Ability to export an InDesign CS5 clipping path?

I ran into a minor problem. We have just improved CS1 CS5 in our society, and at the present time, we are very happy with the change to the more 'modern' (if you found my advice here).

In any case, before the installation of Adobe CS5, I recently asked our TI-guy to reformat my pc and reinstall Win XP again. I did this so that I can start from scratch and eliminate most common pc errors in a near future, (I got this pc from someone else some time ago, who used and installed some stuff on this topic that I knew or needed).

Most of my data and files have been saved and re-installed. However, to my horror, that I realized that some of the image files in an InDesign document that contains MANY traces of clipping are is no longer listed as related but missing. I checked and saw that these image files are not saved at all.

Now the problem is not return these images that I can quickly download and recreate a link to them from a number of databases.

However, these images were all carefully cut out in Photoshop by creating paths of shadow for each and every one of them and these clipping paths are now lost with the deleted files.

If I check my InDesign file now I see that each preview still retains the original cutpath of the original (but now deleted) Photoshop file. I tried to mark this cutpath first, copy it and then tried to see if I could insert it into an image file I opened in Photoshop, but this does not - at least for me - work.

My question is now.., can these somehow clipping paths saved and re-imported in Photoshop.

All creative, ingenious, heavy and even crazy thinking and methods are very, very welcome, because I wouldn't sit once more and spending hours of recreating these paths.

Hoping on some bright minds out there... ;-)

Thanks for any help in advance.

You should be able to get a framework it starting from the clipping path.

Copy this image in illustrator, then copy from Illustrator to photoshop file.

When you are prompted in Photoshop, choose 'Path '.

Seems like a lot of work to be honest.

I'd be inclined to redraw the paths again if they are not so complicated that they shouldn't take too long.

  • Best way to export from Indesign CS5 for Ipad presentation

Hello, I want to create a portfolio of our work to put on an Ipad, so I can show it to my clients. Would be nice if I could slip through the different screens by scrolling with my finger. Now that I read a few articles about it, but still I can't find out what is the best way... Interactive PDF is not supported on Ipad (?) so I should create an e-book, but which is the best way? Or is it better to simply add a few images in my photofolder and simply scroll through them?

Thank you very much for your answers!

There you go. You already have the opportunity to browse the images and run them in a slide show. There is no need to complicate things with PDF/ebook.

  • Automatic import of Images w / clipping paths

All my images are automatically import in Indesign with clipping paths lit. I don't want to! Everything started happening (apparently at random) a few days ago. Happens if I place the image. Happens if I slip and fall. It happens in any way that I get the image in Indesign. Help!

I don't know how to turn off once it is in Indesign, but I have THOUSANDS of images, I can't select each to disable the clipping path. I was hoping it was a setting/preference somewhere that I'm not aware of.

[Left the forum Cloud/Installer generic for program specific forum... MOD]

I checked into this a bit. There is an import adjustment that allows for your to choose or not to apply photoshop clipping masks in your TIFF. He must have been checked and is now applied to all.

On the next tiff that import you, select The show Import Options before clicking OK. Uncheck the box Use Photoshop clipping paths . I think you'll just have to do this with a single file, and then it must carry over the placed files.

  • Problem using Adobe InDesign CS5 to prepare a PDF file to download on Magcloud:

I use the trial version of Adobe InDesign CS5 30 days.

I have downloaded the Magcloud model, created a document using InDesign CS5, it has exported to PDF and uploaded to Magcloud. Magcloud rejects my upload, saying: he has an incorrect number of pages. For example, if I create a 24 page document in InDesign, Magcloud think she has only 13 pages - front and back covers, 11 more two-page spreads.

Details, please, how to export from InDesign CS5 so that Magcloud sees the same number of pages as InDesign.

  • Videos in Indesign CS5 swf docs plays do not in some browsers

I have included a video in a swf file exported from Indesign CS5. It plays fine on my pc in IE8 on a macbook with firefox 3.6.13 and safari 4.1.3 the video can be seen, but when you click on play page turns white. Any help gratefully received.

I've never had no video problem with Mac/FF/Safari... Have you tried to open your SWF file to the same location you used with PC? or move you to a different location to open it with Mac? If you have moved it, did you also move a folder of resources where the video file is stored?

InDesign does not ship the video in the SWF file.

When you use Safari and some test tube work doesn´t element, you will probably see this window of activity in (window > activity).

Yes. Thank you. I based on another post misled. Successfully done this by selecting 'File', 'save a copy... ". "then choosing"for CS4 or later (IDML).

He had little patience and several tests, but I think it was because of hardware (memory) overloaded version CC cloud or something. It was a 50 MB, file of 500 pages and took 17 minutes to convert/save,

Recap: dnuee to CS5, do not use "Export" (IDML); use ' Save as ' or 'Save a copy' and select "for CS4 or later (IDML).

    Advice much appreciated.

  • Workspace export InDesign Cs5

I am trying to import my workspace to work in a new mac mini (lion) at home. I have a backup time machine (mac Leopard pro) work computer and I went searched the XML in your Applications / Adobe Indesign Cs5 / Presets / Indesign workspaces U.S. /en_. He was not there, I did a search and it did not. I created a new workspace with a unique name on the new mini and I could not locate where the file has been saved.

Any idea on how to export a workspace?

  • Exporting to PDF from InDesign CS5

Probably a real simple question to answer, but I am confused.  I'm trying to export a bulletin 6 pages in .pdf format from InDesign CS5; It comes out as a 4-page document in the following sense: the first page is fine (vertical on letter size), the 2nd and 3rd pages appear side by side (horiz. / letter) like pages 4 and 5.  Page 6 is again very well (vertical/letter).  I never had this problem with CS4...  Any suggestions?  Thanks in advance, Wharton

  • AppleScript which rotates all clipping paths in InDesign CS3

At the following link, there is an Applescript script to light all clipping paths and another script to turn everything off. The script to turn off works great.

    http://forums.Adobe.com/message/1106200#1106200

I get an error when you try to run the script to enable clipping paths.

Adobe InDesign CS3 has been an error: invalid value for set property 'type of cutting. Planned none / detect the edges/alpha channel/photoshop path/user path of change, but has received (= > ("clippingpath", (cutting type = > traced photoshop, applied path name = > "Path 1"))).

    Running InDesign CS3 version 5.0.4

Any ideas on how to solve this problem?

    Thank you

The forum ate my post. I would try again.

You cannot use 'all', you must use the name that was used when the path was made. You can find the names by getting "the photoshop clipping paths" of an image.

    It works very well here:

    Tell application "Adobe InDesign CS3"

    Tell document 1

    all graphs the value allPics

Repeat with i from 1 to number of allPics

define paths to the names of path of photoshop clipping point of allPics i

If (count elements of paths) > 0 then

    {set the Properties of the point i of allPics to {(traced clipping:{{class=fontblue}}applied the name of path:(point 1, path), type of cutting:traced photoshop}}

I allPics Properties of the traced clipping point

    end if

    end repeat

    tell the end

    tell the end

  • Disable the automatic application of a related to PSD clipping path

    Beings,

The forum search is broken so excuse me if this is already covered. I've recently updated to CS5 and every time I place a PSD file in my document, the clipping path (if it exists) is automatically applied.

I'm using clipping paths in my Photoshop PSD inside Indesign more that I use, so I would like to prevent this happening automatically. This habit never to arrive before CS5 and I did not find the setting that controls this.

I hope that this can be disabled because it is boring!

    TIA

    Paul

Check "Show Options" in the place of dialogue and stop it here, it should be so sticky.  Or if you drag from Explorer / bridge to do a file > place instead, do it once must reset it.
