About discovery of Nagios Plugin

I recently installed Hyperic and I try to integrate it into an existing installation of Nagios.  I installed the agent on two different servers of Nagios (production and dev) and in both cases the automatic discovery Nagios detects that the Nagios server in/usr/local/nagios but finding no services/plug ins.  There is no 'Availability of Nagios' entry created under resources-mast head, and no service appear in the Nagios server on each platform.  I tried manually adding a Nagios Plugin service and this will give me the option of availability in the mast-head, but no data is displayed and the service seems not really to do something.

Any suggestions that I can do to get Hyperic to discover my Nagios checks?
I run the agent HQ to the same user running Nagios slot, so it has full access to the nagios/libexec directory.  It is an essential feature to operate if we adopt Hyperic because we have hundreds of services monitored in our existing Nagios installation, including some custom archiving scripts that would be very intensive time in port.

Thank you.

Error is probably related to a complex installation of the Nagios model

  • More questions about registration of the plugin on a Production Server package

I tried to review other messages (as well as the documentation for VMware) regarding the plugins installation/registration on [the customer] production servers.  Specifically, I was looking at this recent announcement:

    https://communities.VMware.com/message/2292717

The following response was a very good point, but I was looking for a little more in detail about how other developers are doing this installation/registration:

laurentsd: as a plugin developer, you are responsible to write an installer that customers will run to register your plugin package. You do not want to treat to run a java program directly :-)  The installation program should be easy to use.

I was curious to know how many people have their customers to install a Web Client plugin.

The States of doc SDK - Tutorial.html in the 'record of your plugin...» "article for the mode of production (step 1), you can:"

Use a script program or installer to create the object of Extension data programmatically and enter this data object using the ExtensionManager.registerExtension method

This means that the .zip file must be placed on a server access with HTTPS access.

[Variant 1]: are most of the people having the client stores the .zip file in a HTTPS server in the customer environment?  If Yes, then I guess that the installer prompts the user to specify the URL to the zip file, which is then rolled into the Extension data' things "programmatically.

[Variant 2]: or, most people hold their own on their own server HTTPS .zip file by using an installation program with hard coded URL value in the .zip file, and having the user simply launch the installer without entering any additional data?

Or maybe there is an Option of [3] that I have not yet thought?

It seems that [option2] is obviously easier for the customer, but makes it harder to make a plugin that everyone has access to.  [Variant 1] requires a bit of work for the customer, but allows the developer to restrict access to the plugin for customers who have paid for the product.  Certainly the installer can block based on the license key, but anyone with some knowledge of vSphere Client Web plugins as well as documentation 'Save your plugin package' could take a plugin .zip file and install it manually without an official Installer (when the .zip is hosted to the public).

You must take the URL of the ZIP file as an input for your script so that all options can be supported. If the zip file is hosted in the customer environment, then the URL should point to that. If you host the zip file on your own server, then the URL should point to your server.

You should code hard not URL that you have mentioned in the #2 option, because there are several companies and agencies Government which do not allow to connect outside of their network.

I was at one point running the B200 M1 blade in each chassis without any problem until the time came to test XenServer. After that I was done with the test I driving the service profile I believe before you turn off the blade.

From there curiously service profile was unrelated, but I couldn't turn off the two B200 M1 blade, so I tried to reset the and I even had to reinstall the two blades. Once those two servers were never available, always on and cannot be turned off with the following status, when occurs a discovery

Overall State would be ' discovery-a failed ' and the current task status details shows:

I just open a TAC case on the same issue.  It is caused by a bug fixed in 1.43i - background process cause more queue MTS block. (CSCtq03411).

Temporary workaround until you can update is to ssh in the interconnection and connect to the local-mgmt and deliver orders pmon stop and then start pmon.  This will cause an interruption of service.  No configuration change is possible until this is done.

  • Question about discovery/inventory/status schedule

    Hello.

    I have a question.

    Can I disable schedule discovery/inventory?

I'll manually run discovery/inventory during the installation of new devices.

and then I turn off hourly status?

If the calendar of the disabled state, draw the attention of job function properly?

Hi and thanks for the post.

You can go to the Discovery Portal page - the place that you have created your discovery beaches... from there, you should find an arrangement to clear the calendar of discovery/inventory.

With regard to the status, I would like to keep it to 1 hour.  This is the survey that will check the health of hardware for all your devices.

If, however, you use only OME as SNMP trap receiver, you can disable this too I guess.  But the icon of health on the tree view of the devices will probably not updated unless a trap happens on a particular device.

    Thank you

  • Maybe not mission critical, but you know... Plugin of MaxThon and debugger

Then, I was absolutely delighted, about six months ago, when I finally realized, you can configure FB to point for browsers other than IE and FIreFox for debugging and were between Safari, IE, Chrome, Firefox fortunately since - with many advantages for me because I want to have documentation open in a browser, test to another etc. Also very useful to test the stuff of conference that you can have different user sessions in each of the browsers without conflict.

    Then...

Then I updated my BIOS and Windows put in this small link on my desktop to download some browsers more and I thought: ' well, why not?

    Then...

Now, I am testing against Opera also, but _not_ MaxThon.

Oddly, all other browsers I have are about 11.5 debugger plugin, but MaxThon is definitely on 11.3 non - debugger. I was to download FlashPlayer and downloaded the latest debuggers, but still nothing.

I have a nasty suspicion, maybe it's like the Chrome that uses some godawful, concocted, customized system to do something unwanted without good reason, but unlike Google, there are not enough people who care enough to find out.

    Where I just what is...

Anyone know how to get the debugger plugin to play nicely with MaxThon?

    See you soon,.

    Cool.

Their technicians have responded (very quickly) in the forums to say:

"You can force M3 to use the version of your system in ultra mode by removing the file prog NPSFW32.dll > Maxthon3 > webkit > Nnplugins folder.

So, I now FB Setup to use IE, FF, Safari, Chrome, Opera and MaxThon (retro and ultra modes).

MaxThon is a very cool browser, btw. Like gestures and shortcuts.

  • Is there a page of archive for the Flash Player plugins for PORTABLE versions of the web browsers?

Is there a page of archive for downloads installers for Flash Player plugin for PORTABLE versions of web browsers like Firefox ESR?

One of my web browsers is Firefox ESR 10.0.7 and is a PORTABLE of Firefox version that apparently needs a different Flash Player plugin that the plugin Flash Player normal requiring regular versions of most web browsers.

I don't want to install the most recent PORTABLE Flash Player plugin version because I read about the problems with it and it is the only capable version this ESR Firefox will give me the opportunity to download and install when I try to install the plugin Flash Player necessary through the browser.

I already know about the page archive plugin Adobe Flash Player normal, below, the link, but who don't have the Flash Player plugins for MOBILE web browsers.

    http://helpx.Adobe.com/Flash-Player/KB/archived-Flash-Player-versions.html

I also looked on OldApps.com and I couldn't find anything there.

Where can I download an older version, maybe one of the plugins Flash Player 11.2 to round April 2012, that will work with this version of PORTABLE Firefox ESR?

I tried this question in the forum of Mozilla Firefox Help, but no one could answer.

    Thanks for any help,

    digiday

I met the same problem with the version of portable Firefox, I've tried.  I found myself ignoring the record (with the text file) that they have provided and created my own folder 'plugins' alongside firefox executable.

As to why I went with 10.3 11.4, it was mainly because we added in Flash Player 11.3 protected mode.  While this might work (it didn't on my first attempt), it adds a layer of complexity that I didn't want to face.  If you need some of the new features of 11.x, then you have to play with it to see if you can get this to work.  One thing to try would be to modify the mms.cfg by disabling the protected-mode, however, I do not know if this file is accessible outside your windows\system32\macromed\flash folder.

You can find all versions of 10.3 here: where can I find direct downloads of Flash Player 10.3 for Windows or Macintosh?

  • Flash Player plugin that displays the output window?

    Hey there,

I remember reading about a Flash Player plugin that shows the output window when mistakes happen, but don't remember the link or where I read about it.

Does it exist or did I did it upward?  I would use it if it can be useful when testing on Flash you can hear it on the web.  If someone has a link to find out where to download it from the adobe site that would be of great stuff.

  • MMIC certificate import error

I try to install the stand-alone UCS Nagios plugin to monitor our C240M3 which uses the XML API to read the data from the sensor, when I try to use the plugin with the self-signed certificate of MMIC I get the SSL error, so I thought that no problem I'll generate a cert for the MMIC of our internal CA. I produced a CSR in the webUI MMIC according to the instructions and left our CA cert, but I have problems to import the certificate.

I tried the DER encoded .cer file both a B64 and I also tried to import the chain into a .p7b file and I get "certificate Upload Failed. Could not validate"of the MMIC every time.

As I said I am trying this on a C240M3 and it is running v 2.0.1(a) I know 2.0.1(b) is out, but I saw nothing about SSL certificates in the release notes and we are a 24/7 facility, and it would be at least two weeks before I can schedule downtime to perform the update.

I came across something very similar recently trying to sign and to download a third party PositiveSSL certificate (public certification authority).  It could not download, and TAC has determined that it was due to the presence of an attribute extended usage (EKU) key, namely "SSL client: Yes.

    See https://tools.cisco.com/bugsearch/bug/CSCup26248

If this is the same bug that you are running in, I suggest you open a TAC case and related it to this Bug ID.  This gives Cisco a better indication of the number of people affected and the priority more that he'll get to the extent where attaches.

  • Update to version 4.1 EXSi 5.1 with NetApp Filer as storage device

It is simple to upgrade a single host EXSi the old version to a new version. But how to change a host mounted storage NetApp Filer (data store). I'm not familiar with NetApp Filer as storage device. Receive detailed information or step by step example 1) disassembled the NFS share? (2) the driver update from 4.1 to 5.1 3 exsi) then go up the NFS share?

    Hi ginger8990,

It's me again by reviewing some of your recent posts, I see that you're eager to learn, so I'll throw a little more treats to snack on there.  That's just my opinion and how I do things, your and other approaches may vary.  A large part of it, you'll already know so forgive me, but better too much, not enough, I say.

    Compatibility

Always check the compatibility and interoperability of the matrices for all suppliers.  When in doubt degenerate to a provider and ask, it's their job to answer.

    BIOS / Firmware

When you upgrade, you can also take the opportunity during this downtime to update your BIOS Firmware server, etc. to the desired standard.

    vmkping

Once the server is online and ESXi has been updated, you can confirm own access to storage by a vmkping on the IP Address of the file server to a session of putty/SSH on the VMHost (particularly useful for testing the frames extended if use you it).  Other than that, if you see that data warehouses are not grayed out (i.e. you can right click and browse their) then you should be good to go.  Set up a test of the virtual machine and discover things.

    VSC NetApp data OnTap Versions

As you upgrade your VMHost 4.x to 5.x, this means that the version of vCenter was already updated (requirement hard as you know).  I see that you mentioned that you use vCenter (VCSA).  You also use the Netapp VSC?  If so this would be installed on a Windows Server of some sort I don't think that it is still supported on VCSA (but I could be wrong).

See the version of your NetApp VSC plugin and talk to your storage team to decide if they want to update.  They might want to consider their Data OnTap version among others before deciding (OnTap version is also very relevant if research of VAAI and SIOC features... don't worry about these last 2 If you have not yet started it in this way).

    IVMS

After the upgrade of the VSC, you should review annex IVMS (NetApp snapshots) If you use those.  Do not skip the IVMS review or you can violate SLAS for lack of shots every night.  The reason is that after a VSC your schedule component upgrade snap may have to be reconfigured.  In any case, the VSC upgrade is optional, but desired.

    Advanced settings (vmkernel)

Using the traditional fat vSphere C# lient, you must also confirm that each of the ESXi hosts have the best practical vmkernel advanced settings for NFS.  You can view your VMhost conformity of the Home > NetApp plugin on the vSphere client.  I don't have it in front of me now, but I think it's under the "host discovery" in the plugin.  Just scroll your host in the plugin and see if it is consistent.  Alternatively, you can right-click and apply the settings to the VMHost in question (required restart ESXi).  The advanced settings can also be made manually in the Client vSphere for each host, or using PowerCLI.

    CDP and own Communication reports

As always, before making any upgrade, it is always useful to collect a RVTools report and store it off to Excel for reference.  A COP report (as this or that) is also useful.  The CDP report shows the switch ports that your host is connected.  Send this report to your boys network and tell them of ' contempt restarts on the following interfaces during upgrades of the host'.»»  It's always nice to communicate, more if you have trouble the ports in question are clear for everyone.

    OOB (out-of-band access)

Ideally, you should have the band access to the server (that is, KVM over IP, HP ILO, Dell iDRAC, IBM RSA, etc.).  These are all examples of the technology used to reach the server where the management interface is not reachable on the network.  If you do not, you should have physical access to the server, or planning your upgrade, when you know that someone who does not have physical access can reach the server if you have trouble.

    DNS and time synchronization

Make sure that the synchronization host is NTP correctly and that the DNS addresses are correct.  It is a town that gets loser on fresh builds.  Your upgrade which should carry on but without problem.

    Profiles of the host

If you use the host profiles, the final step would be to update or create a new profile of the newly updated reference host host (host > Host Profiles), and then verify the compliance of each improved host.  This view hosts and Clusters by selecting the Cluster in the left pane, and then clicking on the 'Compliance profile' tab in the right pane.  Then, right-click on the desired host and select "Verify profile respect" (then scroll way down to see if something fails verification).  When in doubt, stick to the upgrade of a host at a time and test/prove your success.

Tools and vHardware for virtual machines

After the upgrade, you can choose to update tools VMware, then the material as usual (both optional and can be postponed to a later date to support simple roll-back to 4.x if necessary).

Note: since you're going to 5.1 we still call vHardware.  5.5 it is called virtual compatibility.  You can be several versions behind on this and always be supported.  Most people just do it sooner than later however.  Always just, don't forget to make the tools before hardware.  I think you have it mastered well

    Summary and closing

OK, so it's a lot of techno babble I just typed (and believe me there is more) but the reality is that you would be fine not to read all this and just upgrade.  Try and do your best to organize your approach and research / ask questions until you are comfortable.  In the end, the best way to learn is through practice.  Anyway, NFS is very forgiving and is probably the easiest support in VMware thing.  Good luck and have fun!
