About the origin/Edge configuration

Hello, I'm quite new to Adobe Flash Media Server and have been reading administration guide.

After reading the information of origin/edge here:

leader = 00000130.html & http://livedocs.adobe.com/fms/2/docs/wwhelp/wwhimpl/common/html/wwhelp.htm?context=LiveDoc s_Parts

I came across a few questions.

1. it is said that edge server essentially act as a "proxy" gets all inbound connections, which redirects them to the originating server.

But I read here:

leader = 00000130.html & http://livedocs.adobe.com/fms/2/docs/wwhelp/wwhimpl/common/html/wwhelp.htm?context=LiveDoc s_Parts

that basically just edge transport server uses 1 connection initially and ordered that all users who connect. I am an old user of shoutcast/icecast, and this terminology is a little different. Origin/Edge configuration is basically correct relay? An edge transport server relays a stream from the origin server, and ordered everyone still correct?

So I might have a relatively low origin server and low bandwidth and have 3 edge server to connect to the origin and have about 100 users to connect to each server 3 edge?

2. This is the question that that concern me the most. Currently I have swf and HTML field restriction to my application on the original server. If I set up an edge transport server it will respect safety (html and swf domain restrictions) set to the correct home server? Or should I re-enter the areas these 2 files on the edge transport server?

3. when I completely setup my origin/edge servers, will still be able to connect to the origin? Or they will have access on board?

4. is there a way to limit the number of users connected to a server and after that it caps out, every future connection is then sent to another edge transport server?

We hope to hear for you guys.

Thank you!

It is not that we do not know, is that we have not gotten here yet.

1. edge/origin does many things.  It is a complete solution or a simple approximation.  Edge tries to take as much load to the server of origin as possible, therefore he handles VOD delivery locally if the media is cached, distributes broadcasts by pulling only once, but redisting, and it multiplexes all incoming connections on the edge more than one (actually two, but that's a minor detail) to the origin by the remote application conveyed. Origin must manage all scripts, is the authority on the content and registration or the Summit meeting point in direct topologies.  If you have a low origin?  Probably not because he is will again fill media content, especially at the beginning, when the caches are empty, constly.  If you run the script, happens to process the script for all customers, including those on the edges, so that can be costly - should be a great machine?  probably not - when caches work correctly, you should see limited on the origin, etc. support.

2 edge transport server has its own independent area restrictions.  They are not provided to original aboard.  Allows you to create an origin configuration where it accepts that the edges or other machines in your domain and you can target other areas by the edge transport server.  So, if you want them all in honor of these settings, you'll want to change it on all configurations.

3. an origin server can always handle direct traffic with or without subscription the edges.  I'll make sure that you are up-to-date with the latest version of FMS, especially 3.5.3 when it comes out that we have fixed some bugs in our DVR implementation in this area.  Nothing catastrophic, just want to ensure that you have the version that works best and we are considered correction of problems loading strongly edge based both local basic traffic (especially in a network of 3 level or more, but you're not here)

4. you can write like this logic in an access adapter - actually it is exactly what it is designed for.  There the number of connections - for the server and the command of redirection at your disposal so write some logic there please.

  • Question about the nonstandard network configuration

    I'm trying to debug the problem following the configuration of the virtual switch.

    On a vswitch on a host ESX 3.5 with two physical network cards (vmnic0 and vmnic2), there are two groups of ports both with no vlan (i.e., the VLANs set to 0 in the configuration of portgroup).

    Two of these groups of ports use two physical NICs in active-active mode.

    The only difference is that on one of them, call it portgroup pg1, load balancing algorithm is mac hash and "Promiscuous" mode is turned on, and

    Another is to use charge balncing alg based on the port with promisicuous off mode id; Call this portgroup pg2

    A dozen of VMs attached to pg2 are all able to get a DHCP lease; However, if I set one of these virtual machines to fix instead of pg1, it is impossible to obtain a dhcp lease

    It is guess I have this problem can be the physical switch is misconfigured in that the switch ports that attach to vmnic0 and vmic2 are incompatible configured. Howerver, the fact that all 10 VMS access and statistically some would use the vmnic0 and other vmnic2 fit not quite this.

    I realize, there is incompatibility between the hash of the IP and the other nic teaming algorithms, but do not see how change of identification of the port to mac hash would whatever it is outside of the algorithm of the virtual machine uses in chossing between vmic0 and vmic2

    Since it will be difficult to get access to the network switches that I would have pragamtically some alternatives ready before speaking to the team concerned. All of the suggestions.

    Thank you

    Rich

    Hello

    Promicuous mode should have no impact on this. If so, I would be very very surprised. In fact in a vSwitch is the vNIC not the bear who switches to "Promiscuous" mode, so there should be no impact on the bear. The bear is actually in bridged mode.

    Also, remember to score the answers as correct or helpful using the boxes on the left side of the wire screen. It is a good way to show appreciation to other posters.

  • Question about the tools Panel...

    I have a question about the Panel edge tools animate:

    In the future, edge animate will have a rich set of drawing tools? At the moment, so wanted to have a symbol, lets say a 'dog', I would have to draw everything first in Illustrator or Photoshop, and then import it into Edge animate (because EA basically allows me to draw rectangles and circles only). In future versions, will there be tools like 'Pen tool' or 'Gum' and other drawing tools know Flash Professional to create symbols?

    Thank you

    JH

    Hi JH,.

    Sorry, but we can't comment specifically about whether or when any functionality in the future versions of edge animate. What we can do, is listen to feedback from our users, and to add feature requests for the EA team who can be considered for future versions of edge animate.

    When new releases are published, there is also a list of the new features added... so stay tuned!

  • books on the oracle network configuration?

    Salvation;

    I'm looking for books about the oracle network configuration details. I tried oracle press, O'Reillys, Amazon and google; However, I only found books specific to oracle net that bear a date entirely. It seems that General database management books have chapters on the configuration of the network, however.

    At the configuration of the network under oracle 10 g + arrived at the point where the comprehensive books on the subject are not worth the cost?

    I was hoping to find information on the syntax of different files, which can go in the and how to solve problems of connectivity - preferably in a place so much when I'm faced with a problem, I don't have to go hunting for more information. This and he is studying a whole lot easier.

    Any info is greatly appreciated.

  • How to get the original item_property after have changed at runtime

    Hello

    for example:

    in my form there is an ITEM_A defined with VISUAL_ATTRIBUTE = "ABCD_RED".

    while executing, this property turns into "XYZ_GREEN".

    Set_Item_Property ('BLOCK_A.ITEM_A', VISUAL_ATTRIBUTE, 'XYZ_GREEN');

    Now I can read this property of Get_Item_Property - (real function, it is "XYZ_GREEN")
    But what about the origin of property "ABCD_RED".

    Is it possible to get the origin of property on a direct question to my form
    without saving it initially in time?

    Thank you
    Norbert

    You can save it in a variable before editing or you can reset the property to the original value that was set at design time.

    SET_ITEM_PROPERTY('my_item', VISUAL_ATTRIBUTE, '');

    Just use two single quotes without space between them "and the property will be reset to what it was at design time.

  • Questions about the configuration of the cache for use with partitioned off-lot...

    Once more, I give it a try to see if we can make use of the new partitioned (split) off-heap storage and are having problems with the configuration of the cache (including configuration files).

    The problems that I had, it seems that < high > units should be specified for the entire cluster (or perhaps for a node? not sure yet!) while < original-size > & < size > is specified by partition. Is this correct? That's the way it was intended (for me it would have seemed more logical to also specify < high-units > per partition since I guess overflow checking and expulsion is made by partition)? The way I read the documentation, it seems that all three should be per partition if < partitioned > true < / partitioned > is specified.
    If I value < > 1 mb high-units (as i belive I should if it was per partition) I get the impression that I posted in a previous question (a message to info on some missing index data, then the crash of nodes in cluster with some of out of memory error).

    Sorry, my description is very confusing. High units is by cache. What I was trying to say, is that cache mapping can train additional units high to affect the memory required by the node. Since multiple caches can map to the same pattern, especially if you use wildcards in the mapping, you must consider the total number of hidden units of high times. It is true or not caches use different services.

    You are also right about high units, applying to the partitioned support cards. You could have easily expulsion are happening as you describe. We must take another look at the configuration because it is too easy to make a mistake.

    As expected, the allocation of card support splitting is lazy to avoid the problem you described. The worst case situation, I was trying to explain can occur if you have caused all buffers to be allocated based on the data before all other nodes could take some of the partitions.

    Kind regards

    Is there a documentation about the configuration of the function keys (program).

    Dell Dimension 1400, model XP SK8110 keyboard.   Yes, I know there are 7 years old, but running like a champ.

    Hello

    You can use various function keys to activate certain features and commands only. The following list details the current functions keys, what they do, and when you can use them.

    Three keys can be used when Setup is loading and when you are prompted to press the F6 function key to install some third-party small computer system interface () SCSI and host controller drivers:

    • F5 - for computer type or hardware abstraction layer (HAL) selection
    • F6 - to install the SCSI controller drivers and third-party host
    • F7 - to run Setup without Advanced Configuration and Power Interface (ACPI)

    When the "Welcome" screen is displayed, the following function keys can be used:

    • F2 - to automatically start the process (ASR, Automated System Recovery).
    • F10 - to bypass the menu screens and to load the Recovery Console

    During the GUI (GUI) - Mode Setup, the following function keys can be used:

    • SHIFT + F10 - to enable access to a prompt during the installation in graphical Mode
    • SHIFT + F11 - to display "old" wizards that give more detail.

    Thus, it is not possible to configure the function keys to perform this task. However, you can use your favorite search engine to perform this task.

    I opened an older catalog and lost the original catalogue with over 2 years of picture about it (I have never opened any other catalogs - I never chose to save either). It is not saved anywhere that I can see as a catalog on my computer. If I didn't save it before opening the oldest catalog (I don't remember specifically save anything) would it save in another format, other than a catalog somewhere?

    What happens if you choose file-> to open the new item? Another catalog is listed, and you can choose it? Simply switch to a different catalogue may not cause the previous catalogue to disappear.

  • back to the original within a workspace configuration?

    is it possible to return to the original within a workspace configuration? Do I have to cancel the deployment, remove the config and add to get the original config? Or tell the user of snapshot before demo and go back to the snapshot?

    Check in the library, saving the State if you wish.

    Returning would be to cancel the deployment (State to throw), delete and clone another copy of the library.

    You can use snapshot/back, but using the library control chain clone linked better.
