Acer Aspire e 15 is unable to boot from the CD
I bought an Acer Aspire E 15 yesterday and am relatively satisfied so far. However, I have one caveat. While I don't mind Windows, I prefer to use a Linux OS. I burned a Ubuntu ISO on a DVD and rebooted the system. Windows 10 has begun. I rebooted, went into the BIOS and change the boot order so that the DVD player should be started everything first. No power-, always loaded Windows. I changed the boot for a legacy one sequence, and then nothing would start at all when you restart. So I just had to go back and change back to where it was.
I want to try it on a flash drive, but can't find it at the moment. I think that if I could not start the DVD, it probably wouldn't start a Flash either, but will try anyway. Upgrading the BIOS would make a difference? I know that it is not recommended, but for me, not being able to boot from a CD to install the OS I use is a pretty big problem for me. I googled and lift you on several Linux forums who have not been supportive. You guys can understand a fix? Thank you.
If you try the way that the flash player, please use Rufus to create a flashdrive bootable with Ubuntu .iso

Alienware X 51 R1 unable to boot from the CD
I've noticed lately that my x-51 R1 running Windows 7, is unable to boot from the CD/DVD drive using the UEFI. I tried with a CD of Linux for the class, and I'm trying to reset my HP MediaSmart Server old ancestors via a disk recovery and in two attempts, the computer will boot directly from the HARD drive.
Installation boot is CD/DVD, USB, CD/DVD or HARD drive.
UEFI BIOS is
Computer is running that Windows 7 Home Premium, Intel i3-2120 3.3 GHz bought in December 2012.
Any help would be appreciated, I will try to answer all questions as well.
Calling Customer Service would be good, but they try to charge me...
The UEFI boot sequence does not take too kindly to optical drives. It is best to make a USB bootable using Rufus:
For an example, see here:
If you make a recovery media using the latest version of Respawn Alienware be sure to use USB (USB key or external hard drive USB) and not a DVD media:

I have download ESXi 3.5 VMware site, write on CD, but unable to boot from the CD, why? ESXi installation does not occur.
Please help on this issue.
Since there is no integration PAM for ESXi, you cannot authenticate to ESXi itself using active directory. -What are you talking about? You can always have virtual machine with windows and active directory.

Equium A100 - unable to boot from the bootable disc
Equium A100-549
My son s partner has a 2 year old Toshiba which has become slow over time. I had done a backup of the system with office installed etc using Acronis. Anyway, decided to rid running Acronis and recorded image. The program runs normally, and he falls down to a denial of service as the ready to restore screen. It is then with the cursor flashing as usual and then it crashes, and doesn't allow you to access the image.
I am that it can be altered, so reinstalled Acronis. Make an Acronis boot disk to run the image, and he does not take into account the disk boots directly to the normal hard drive (IDE 0) still no joy. Then I tried the restore of laptops disc. In the BIOS, I said peripheral CD as everything first and also the restore disc says place in the drive and turn off.
While it starts up press F12, which brings a menu allowing you to boot from the CD drive. I did, but it doesn t appear to look at the CD and just load windows from the HARD drive. I removed the CD for system devices and rebooted. He found and added the new device to herself and asked to reset. Still no joy!
Scanned with Norton, but still not good. Norton removal. The result is the same. Able to read the CD and also write to it as well. Diagnosis Toshibas ran on the unit and everything seems ok with it.
Tried to make a bootable flash stick on floppy, but it is ignored, well specified the amorçage using other devices.
Basically, it seems that I can t get it to watch prior CD onto the HARD drive.Flashing the BIOS would heal it? -Registry error causes this?
Y at - it everywhere where I can talk to someone from Toshiba about this?
Any info / help much appreciated
Hello Nick
Put the delivered device DVD recovery DVD and turn on the laptop. Press the C button and keep it pressed for a few seconds. This will force the DVD player to read the DVD, and I hope that you will be able to use the DVD of recovery for the installation of the OS.
If possible, test it with some other bootable CD installations. Please post the results.

You need to first boot the bootable disc using a bootable diskette floppy drive!
Then a driver would be loaded that allows you to boot from the CD/DVD driveAkuma explained already!

Satellite 5100 503: unable to boot from the CD drive
Hey all,.
I have a HUGE problem with my 5100-503 Satellite.
Windows XP connects and then it disconnects right away.
I found a fix for this at: [url] http://www.mcse.ms/message616432.html {/ url}
The problem is that I can not boot from a cd, because the BIOS is configured to boot from the hard drive first.
I get into the BIOS. I read on a few websites on the net than on machines 5xxx Satellite, you can only enter the bios through windows! ..., BUT windows does not work so I can't enter the bios. I can't even use the Windows installation CD when I boot, because once again the HD is set to boot first.
When I press ESC while turning on the laptop and then press F1, I have the option load default BIOS values. I did, but the HD is still set to start first!
What I can do... I can't reinstall windows or get into regedit to fix the paper / log problem!
Help!
Hi Jamie,
Normally, you can select a boot device selection menu when you turn on your laptop. You can do this by holding down the F12 key when you turn on. Hold it down until the phone beeps or the device selection menu appears.
If this does not work then you can try the shortened Toshiba habit that is to hold the 'C' button in the power that would then cause the laptop to boot from the CD drive. Of course, there must be a bootable CD inserted first.
Kind regards

Unable to boot from the installation disc
I am trying to run repair on my imac 10.6 disk utility snow leopard. I have no problem with the Superdrive drive. The installation disc is fine. I inserted the disc in the drive. When it mounted on my desktop I stopped. I pressed the c key and pressing the Start button. The Apple logo appeared with the spinning wheel. After two or three minuets logo Apple disappeared and replaced a circle with slash. I had to pull the plug at this point here.
Try instead boot into recovery mode.

I don't know how to change my aspire D255 in English language.it is in japanese.please help me... Thank you
Looks like you bought it with the Japanese and want to just English from top to bottom. Probably the best thing to do is call Acer Support and see if you can pay for the DVD of restoration. This will not only get you on English, but you'll have the right support for future use. I hope less than a hundred dollars.
If you want to be darring you could wipe the computer and install Windows 7 English yourself. To do this, you must ensure that there is a COA sticker and the key on the bottom of the computer. 25 letters in five groups. Second, you must borrow a DVD of Win7 which corresponds to the version of Windows 7 on this sticker. Home Premium, ultimate, whatever. Then boot from the DVD, format the computer and install Win7 English. When asked to activate, you need to use the 25-digit key. If that sounds scary, it take to Best Buy or store and have them do you like 50 dollars.
