> Thanks, but how do I boot from a cd rom usb drive? I don't have any usb floppy drive
You need to first boot the bootable disc using a bootable diskette floppy drive!
Then a driver would be loaded that allows you to boot from the CD/DVD drive

Try disabling secure boot in the BIOS too.
Then connect the CD/DVD from the laptop drive and switch on the device.

The UEFI boot sequence does not take too kindly to optical drives. It is best to make a USB bootable using Rufus:

    http://Rufus.AKEO.IE/

    For an example, see here:

If you make a recovery media using the latest version of Respawn Alienware be sure to use USB (USB key or external hard drive USB) and not a DVD media:

Since there is no integration PAM for ESXi, you cannot authenticate to ESXi itself using active directory.  -What are you talking about?  You can always have virtual machine with windows and active directory.

You can boot from the external USB CD drive, but you need a supported drive.

  • SA30-414 boot from the floppy USB drive

    Hi all!

I'm tryin to get my my satellite A30-414 to boot from the floppy USB drive and enter the dos mode, but all I get is a black screen (without a slider, of course!), and then the windows XP login page directly. Can you tell me if this model has a boot device menu shortcut keyboard?

Also, I may be permanently changed some configurations of starting (to know by pressing F12 at startup, then press F2 to try later) with my attempts to get the machine to boot from the floppy drive: now even when the floppy drive is not connected, I get this black screen awkward and then, after a few seconds, the logon windows page. How do I access the Setup menu and check?

Thank you in advance for your help!

    Hello

You can access the start menu by pressing the F2 key during the boot process. This will take you in the "setup" menu where you can change the order of selection of boot device as well as the other BIOS settings permanently.

  • Equium A100 - unable to boot from the bootable disc

    Equium A100-549

My son s partner has a 2 year old Toshiba which has become slow over time. I had done a backup of the system with office installed etc using Acronis. Anyway, decided to rid running Acronis and recorded image. The program runs normally, and he falls down to a denial of service as the ready to restore screen. It is then with the cursor flashing as usual and then it crashes, and doesn't allow you to access the image.

I am that it can be altered, so reinstalled Acronis. Make an Acronis boot disk to run the image, and he does not take into account the disk boots directly to the normal hard drive (IDE 0) still no joy. Then I tried the restore of laptops disc. In the BIOS, I said peripheral CD as everything first and also the restore disc says place in the drive and turn off.

While it starts up press F12, which brings a menu allowing you to boot from the CD drive. I did, but it doesn t appear to look at the CD and just load windows from the HARD drive. I removed the CD for system devices and rebooted. He found and added the new device to herself and asked to reset. Still no joy!

Scanned with Norton, but still not good. Norton removal. The result is the same. Able to read the CD and also write to it as well. Diagnosis Toshibas ran on the unit and everything seems ok with it.

Tried to make a bootable flash stick on floppy, but it is ignored, well specified the amorçage using other devices.
Basically, it seems that I can t get it to watch prior CD onto the HARD drive.

Flashing the BIOS would heal it? -Registry error causes this?

Y at - it everywhere where I can talk to someone from Toshiba about this?

Any info / help much appreciated

    Hello Nick

Put the delivered device DVD recovery DVD and turn on the laptop. Press the C button and keep it pressed for a few seconds. This will force the DVD player to read the DVD, and I hope that you will be able to use the DVD of recovery for the installation of the OS.

If possible, test it with some other bootable CD installations. Please post the results.

  • Satellite 5100 503: unable to boot from the CD drive

    Hey all,.

I have a HUGE problem with my 5100-503 Satellite.

Windows XP connects and then it disconnects right away.

    I found a fix for this at: [url] http://www.mcse.ms/message616432.html {/ url}

The problem is that I can not boot from a cd, because the BIOS is configured to boot from the hard drive first.

I get into the BIOS. I read on a few websites on the net than on machines 5xxx Satellite, you can only enter the bios through windows! ..., BUT windows does not work so I can't enter the bios. I can't even use the Windows installation CD when I boot, because once again the HD is set to boot first.

When I press ESC while turning on the laptop and then press F1, I have the option load default BIOS values. I did, but the HD is still set to start first!

What I can do... I can't reinstall windows or get into regedit to fix the paper / log problem!

    Help!

    Hi Jamie,

Normally, you can select a boot device selection menu when you turn on your laptop. You can do this by holding down the F12 key when you turn on. Hold it down until the phone beeps or the device selection menu appears.

If this does not work then you can try the shortened Toshiba habit that is to hold the 'C' button in the power that would then cause the laptop to boot from the CD drive. Of course, there must be a bootable CD inserted first.

    Kind regards

    Hello

    Try the next method.

    Judgment of the laptop.

Tap next to the ESC key as you power to access the start menu.

    Insert the 1 recovery disk.

Press f9 to access the Boot Manager, use the arrow keys to select the CD/DVD drive and press ENTER.

If you get a prompt to "Press any key to continue..." ", do.

    Kind regards

  • Acer Aspire e 15 is unable to boot from the CD

I bought an Acer Aspire E 15 yesterday and am relatively satisfied so far.  However, I have one caveat.  While I don't mind Windows, I prefer to use a Linux OS.  I burned a Ubuntu ISO on a DVD and rebooted the system.  Windows 10 has begun.  I rebooted, went into the BIOS and change the boot order so that the DVD player should be started everything first.  No power-, always loaded Windows.  I changed the boot for a legacy one sequence, and then nothing would start at all when you restart.  So I just had to go back and change back to where it was.

I want to try it on a flash drive, but can't find it at the moment.  I think that if I could not start the DVD, it probably wouldn't start a Flash either, but will try anyway.  Upgrading the BIOS would make a difference?  I know that it is not recommended, but for me, not being able to boot from a CD to install the OS I use is a pretty big problem for me.  I googled and lift you on several Linux forums who have not been supportive.  You guys can understand a fix?  Thank you.

If you try the way that the flash player, please use Rufus to create a flashdrive bootable with Ubuntu .iso

It does not respond to any keyboard input and the Dungeon of yellow light on flashing...

Are you sure that the adapter LED is flashing orange and not battery LED?
If the battery LED is flashing orange, so this means that the battery charge is lower than battery threshold.

But if it s a DC in LED, so I guess that there is an error.
Disconnect the laptop from the AC adapter and try to remove the battery for a period of several.
After this procedure, put the battery in the laptop and connect the power adapter.
    Try to start the laptop.
