Acrobat 9 is not recognizing the Word 2008 structure for bookmarks

Hello - I posted the following on Sunday Acrobat User Community Forums and got zero response.  I talked with Adobe tech support today and was encouraged to post here.

Limping to the finish line of my thesis of doctorate voluminous, broken and with Acrobat 7 only, I have created a PDF file then found that Acrobat was not recognizing my word for the bookmarks structure.  I immediately thought it was because I had upgrade to Office 2008 for Mac and I do need Acrobat 9.  So I used the remaining balance on a credit card to buy Acrobat 9 download, updated, make a pdf of my review of literature part 1 and - ta, da - Acrobat 9 does not recognize my word structure.  In other words, when I go to bookmarks and select the Options menu, 'New signet of structure' option is not available.  My Word docs are all set up with heading styles allowing automatic table of contents in Word.  I thought that's how it is supposed to work to create bookmarks in the PDF files.  I had created bookmarks manually to my maps and tables but, as noted, my thesis is large and so are the tables of contents - far too long to have to manually enter unless there is simply no other way.  Already in the hole at the end of my long doctoral work, it seems currently my $159 for upgrade Acrobat 9 was all for nothing.  My last expert support contract has expired for a long time, and I guess I'll have to throw more precious money, I don't have to get professional support for this issue.  I will be very grateful if anyone on this forum can advise you.

Version Note: after the installation of Acrobat 9, I did making level that arises and thought he said 9.1.3.  Not invited to, I even restarted after the upgrade, but when I check "About Acrobat" it tells me I have version 9.0.0.

After posting the Sunday preceding, I discovered that when I save in pdf Acrobat 9 to Word doc files, I get a pdf file with the first pages of couple in a file separate from the rest - possibly split to a new section.  I was wondering if it was due to a mistake I might have made in distilling trying to follow confusing (to me), Setup of Acrobat 9 for Mac instructions.  While talking with colleagues in tech support I saved a pdf from a docx file and he made that a single PDF as you wait, but as mentioned above, those who do not recognize my style of header structure Word integrated.  I have my text many paper files in format doc at the request of a member of the doctoral Commission and don't want to risk having to reformat after just docx conversion if I can do PDF files - I would rather just to use Acrobat 7 If Acrobat 9 can't read my structure of Word - the reason that I dropped the bucks on it now , because I hope update Creative Suite as soon as POSSIBLE, but can't afford it right now.  The tech asked me to uninstall Acrobat 7 where this may be the source of the problems, but I don't want to do where I still need to use it.  He gave me a few alternatives, including the new preferences and a new user account with administrative access to see if Acrobat 9 will work correctly not used by Acrobat 7 on my main account.  Also I try to uninstall and reinstall the upgrade to Acrobat 9.  But frankly, I'm very disappointed at the idea of be assaulted many more hours trying to get a working product that doesn't seem to be the height of its claims - at a time where I expected to do (finally).  Someone out there has successfully created bookmarks from a Word 2008 for Mac style hierarchy?  Considering the time I've spent so far, I might as well have stuck with Acrobat 7 and just to introducing bookmarks manually.  I am reluctant to put even more time trying to use Acrobat 9 if I don't know for certain that will work, given the time that I should probably spend ion entered manually some bookmarks.  Unfortunately, after downloading Acrobat 9 I trashed all of the PDF files I had done with Acrobat 7 to avoid confusion, so I even have to go through those.  Grrrrrrrrr!  Any ideas welcome.

Version of Acrobat Mac doesn't recognize any structure, links or any special properties in any word or an Office Document embededed. The hooks needed to do this are not included in the version of Microsoft Office for Mac. This is the only feature that Windows Office/Acrobat. I'm sorry. To do something like a desseration Ph.d. I would have recommended FrameMaker which is great for long or other technical documents. It is no longer available for the Mac :-( You will need to add bookmarks, links, etc. directly in the final document of Acrobat.

    But you touched kind on your answer. With ExportPDF or Adobe Acrobat, you can convert the PDF file to a Word document that will be redistributed as you want. But this is not a pdf file. It will be a Word document.

    It is the first time I heard about this issue. The Bios doesn't recognize the drive but Windows is possible use it t.
    Why suggest that peut t BIOS recognizes the drive? Is it not possible to boot from the drive?
    Check if the IDE controller is enabled and the Boot section. The CD/DVD drive should be selected and activated.

    Thanks for your concern, but I threw the thing in the trash.  It was one of your printers 'free' which uses a very expensive ink.  We have collected these printers over time so I opened one I got "free" last month.  I hope it lasts over a year.  Will you be playing with programming and I need a new driver soon for this one also?  Sorry to appear cynical, but at the moment I don't have any different attitude to the project.  I am informed that I will need a new driver for the operation of our other printer and I don't understand what was wrong with the old driver.  We did nothing.  It should work!  I just want to print, words!

    I used times new roman in word 2013.  New file.  Apparently the version of adobe that I use will not incorporate.  I use the version line.  I was told that I have to upgrade to Adobe Pro.  I'm dealing with a patent application, so I can't share the document.  The patent office cannot accept that documents with embedded fonts.  My drawings that have been scanned and then converted are a problem too because I get an error based on the size of the page (23.6 "x 32.4") and I am unable to reduce this size in files from Adobe.com.

    Unfortunately I signed up for this product that get these two converted documents and uploaded only to discover that the conversions will not download.

    So I suggest to look at the following and try to 'Clear the CMOS settings' as described at the bottom of the page: HP and Compaq Desktop PCs - specifications of the motherboard, IPISB-CH2 (Chicago).  Then see if there is no change at all.  If there is no improvement, then use the following http://www.hp.com/contacthp, fill in the form, create a folder for your question and then use the information to contact HP.

    (a) don't you try to install the update manually?

    (b) you get any error message?

    (c) don't you make changes to the computer until the problem occurred?

    (d) what anti-virus software is installed on your computer?

    I suggest you try the steps below and check if it helps

    Method 1:

    If you have installed a security software on the computer, then I suggest you to temporarily disable a software antivirus installed on the computer and check if the same problem occurs

    Vista + do not support a command prompt full screen, as indicated by the message. You can manipulate the available to the command window to specify the width and height to be as big as you want, but this isn't quite the same thing...

    Ok. Let's start with: how many characters you use the password?

    I don't remember the minimum number of characters in the password, it might be six, but why not try using a password with 6, I know full well that work of 8 characters.
