  I know this post is very old, but it is the top google result when searching on this question, so I thought that a useful response would be in order.  I also had this problem, but I discovered the problem in the way I had my place set for My Documents, my pictures, etc..

  Short answer, you must use UNC paths for mapping.

  Longer answer - like you, I have a House (in my case sup) drive connected to my network of the company.  So, I can navigate to U:\Documents.  I had put the location of my documents (and other user files) to U:\Documents, well it worked most of the time it's really not the right way to do it.  If you open your drive mapped in file Explorer, the window title bar will show you the UNC patch.  It will look something like this: yourUsername (\\servername\home$).  Set the location of your My Documents, etc. to match - for example, to \\servername\home$\yourUsername\Documents

  Note that you can not change just the My Documents - you must fix all of your user files that point to a network drive letter (C:\Users\blah bla... is fine) in the format of a UNC path instead.  Then re-run the installation of acrobat and you should be golden.  If the foregoing makes no sense to you, or you do not have the required privileges on your workstation, talk to your resource and they will be able to sort it out for you.

  I've recently updated my system to MacOS Sierra 10.12 PB3 to test and Adobe Reader acted weird since.  I get an error now (which was shown before) about the error 1042 connection Adobe Update Server when checking for updates.   Is no longer, I can check or receive updates.

• Acrobat Reader Installer error: connection failed.

  I tried to install the player for about 2 weeks now.  I erased the space on my hard drive.  I rebooted several times that I can count.  I tried to install an older version.  I checked then double my antivirus to make sure it wasn't block it somehow.  I can not get this installer.  I have attached a picture of the error window that I get...  When I click on start over, he told me the same thing and brings back me to the download window.  I'm at a loss as to what's wrong or what to do next... any help would be very appreciated!

• Standard Adobe Acrobat 7.0 - error missing "resource files".

  Have just changed to a new workstation running Windows 7 (64-bit), while the old computer was running windows 7 (32 bit).

  A copy bought Adobe Acrobat 7.0 Standard and after much struggle Adobe support online was told the CS2 download site and I downloaded the file and opened and installed. However it does not work properly problems as follows:

  I noticed during installation it said unable to create a PDF printer (I have both 2016 Word and Word 2003 on the PC)- but now see main point below where this error message is given in detail...

  Have tried to use 'create PDF' to a word 2003 document as a PDF. Does not work as a pop-up window States:

  You might be able to patch up some problems, but you can't make it work properly on this system not supported. The Adobe PDF in Acrobat 7 printer driver is only for 32-bit systems. It is also required by the PDFMaker Office functions, which therefore cannot work.

  Follow this thread to reset the Acrobat preferences:- How to reset preference settings in format Acrobat.

  Also after opening Acrobat, go to the Help menu and repair the installation.

  Try this: -.

  Open a PDF in Acrobat

  Go to file > export to > Image > JPEG

  Save as dialog click on the settings button in the lower part

  In the color management pane

  Click on the drop down to RGB

  Select Off & Ok

  Save the file in JPEG format

  If the problem persists, please check with the different user account to reproduce the problem.

  Start button-> Run-> regedit.exe

  Navigate to the adobe directory: HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Software/Adobe

  Remove the directory Adobe set of registry keys.

  Now install Acrobat DC again.

  I would like to know if it works.
