Activation key invalid for Netbook

I tried on other operating systems on my netbook and uninstalled the windows starter 7 factory and has been tyring on ubuntu, jolicloud etc... When I went to windows 7 edition starter on my netbook it says my key is invalid.  The key which lies outside my netbook does not work and says its for windows 7 starter edition.  I was wondering if netbooks came not with the Starter 'real' windows 7 but another just for netbooks and this is why I get this error key? If that's true, y at - it a link to the installer or iso image and I was able to install that?

I have a toshiba nb205 netbook.

Thank you

Kyle

  • Product key invalid for Activation, failure Code: 0xC004F050

I have a Dell with Windows Vista Home Premium 32 BIT computer. I have been using this computer for over a year without any major problems. I have not recently installed any software, etc. I shut down my computer last night and when I tried to start this morning, I received the following error message:

"The product key of Windows Vista Home Edition Premium you typed is invalid for activation". I gives me three options to fix this problem:
    1. access your computer with reduced functionality. (This also will allow you to buy a product online key).
    2. enter a different product key.
3 contact Dell to help solve this problem.

I tried to re - type the product key that is listed on the bottom of my computer and I received the 0xC004F050 error code. I tried typing the key again (to make sure that I had typed correctly the first time) and I got the same failure code.

I looked in the old posts in your forum of answers and I could not find any information to help out me.

To clarify, I don't have access to my Start menu. When I connect, I just asked to select one of the three options listed above.

    Help, please!

    Hello Cgharagozian,

    Safe Mode boot

    -%SystemRoot%\System32

-Ask the client to rename (WPA. DBL and WPA. (BAK)

-Rename to WPA. DBL. OLD and WPA. BAK. OLD

-Who is finished, I'll have the customer insert the Windows Vista DVD

    -Direct the customer to %systemroot%\inf

-Locate oobe.inf and ask the customer to install and the path towards the D:\

    -Find the I386 folder

-In this folder there is a folder named "ActShell" click Open and click OK

While in Safe Mode, access the registry

    HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\Current WPAEvents (OOBETimer)

Within WPAEvents, there is a value (OOBE Timer).  "Change" the value data.  One of the characters was "69."  Change it to '72.  One time changed, right click WPAEvents and click on "Permissions."  Change the permissions of 'System' to DENY.  Then access the "advance settings".  "Uncheck the inherit permissions from Parent."  then the system user account on "Edit" and change permission settings.  Click on apply and OK all settings and then start in Normal Mode.

Try to activate by phone but first change the product key for the same.  Once completed, I got the customer continue with the wizard.  The activation was successful.

    * First of all, check that all information is accurate.  Verify that these files are in this situation, otherwise do not continue.  I used these steps to resolve this issue * if things are not identical, please do no change.  I have a few additional troubleshooting step to work around this problem.

Your Dell computer is too old (bios of 2003) were shipped originally with Vista Home Premium.  It's the bios does not even recognize that Vista even existed when it was written (no SLIC table).  I venture a guess that the sticker of the product key on the box of your desktop for Windows XP Edition family (as normally shipped with this computer.)  Vista was not yet released for manufacturers of computers until the end of 2006.

Now your choice.  Buy a license retail for Vista or Windows 7 (if you can find the drivers for your computer 2003) or get the original installation discs and reinstall Windows which shows on the license on the case sticker.

What is curious, if you notice at the beginning of the report's true State.

In any case, go to the start menu and type slui 4. Make sure you do it on an administrator account.

In the dialog box that opens, select your location and call the Microsoft Product Activation Center. Follow the instructions that the automated phone system gives you and then try to activate it.

    Let us know what happens.

  • W7 Upgrade activation key is no longer valid after the second boot disk failures.

My computer, purchased in 2009, had Vista pre-installed (no disk). AprΦs dΘmarrage player shows errors last year I bought an update to W7 (this time as a virtual drive). The upgrade went without problems. Now, a year later, my boot drive has yet again, this time a complete crash. I had to replace the drive and install W7 from scratch - and now I get the error message that the activation key is valid for an upgrade, not for a new installation.

I tried to restore from an Image backup, but it turned out that the image was also corrupted. I have nothing more than the 'User', no file system folder. The old boot drive is totally inaccessible (blue screen just at the moment where I try to reconnect it), the first disc of starting (with Vista on it) is gone (and there were gaps, in any case).

I understand why this (activation key invalid) happens, but I also believe I am justified in using this version of W7 and should get it activated. Someone has any suggestions how to solve this problem?

Thanks in advance for any help.

You can complete the installation of upgrade by following the instructions here...

  • Help with error message: "Windows Vista Home Premium product key you typed in is invalid for activation.

Original title: help with error message... Please...!

I use a desktop PC of HP Pavilion a6202.uk with Windows Vista Home Premium & Microsoft Office 2003.  When I am back from vacation & turned on my PC, my password was OK, but rather to raise Windows, I received the following message: "Windows Vista Home Premium product key you typed in is invalid for activation.  He then listed the following options: "access your computer with reduced functionality (this will allow you to buy a product online key)" or "Type a different product key" or "contact HP to help solve this problem."

I have no idea what a product key is and don't have anything either in the type comes to connect as usual.  I can't access anything to be same to reduced functionality.  I can not type in a new product key because I did not.  I can not contact HP - phone number does not... !!

I'm quite desperate, I travel docs to print and e-mail to answer and I don't have any idea what is happening.  Please can someone help with this not very IT clued-up DTP...!

    Moved from Vista programs Forum.

You should have a sticker with the product key on your computer, on the bottom, or under the battery cover.  I try to type this key in and see if it accepts it.  If this isn't the case, you might not have an authentic version of Windows installed.

  • The family windows vista product key premium you typed is invalid for activation.

Hey guys, I recently restored my computer toshiba laptop to factory settings and at the end of the factory restore it takes me to the screen too activate my windows vista. It gives me the option to activate windows now or wait 15 seconds and activate later. So, obviously, I click on activate now, but I get an error that says: "the windows vista home premium product key you typed is invalid for activation." So o get three options that are 1. Buy a new product online, 2 key. Type a different product key, 3. Contact toshiba to help solve this problem. I know that the product key was under my laptop, but the problem is the product key is faded and I can read is no longer the key. I also contacted toshiba to see if they keep records, but they did not. Any suggestions?

Well; Toshiba was right in saying that it was the way in which the recovery Partition and drives to work.

All we can suggest is to use Microsoft phone activation method; do not follow the instructions of the car, but brace yourself for a real person explain your problem to.

    Hello, Phindude13,

    ) Click the Start button

    (2) type: slui.exe 3 and press the Enter key

    (3) enter the product key from the sticker on your computer

    4) click on the next button.

    (5) you will be asked if want to enable, click ok

    (6) it will attempt to activate over the Internet and will return an error of invalid key (it of ok, go to step 7)

    7) click the Start button

    (8) type: slui.exe 4 and press the Enter key

    (10) the next screen provides the number to call to activate by phone

NOTE: when you call this number, you will first hear an automatic voice who will try to activate Vista for you. If the automated voice gives you an option to speak to a representative of Activation Live, select this option. If this is not the case, do not enter all the numbers. This should force the voice automated transfer you to a Live Activation Rep. trying to activate through the automated voice will not work, in your case, your Activation will be successful only through the Live Activation Rep.

Once completed, you may need to restart twice.

I bought a dell Inspiron on 2007. He died this year and I bought a used machine, using the memory of the dead dell printer. I installed Vista on my disk and now recieveda message on my screen saying my code is invalid for activation! It's probably my drive. What they are up to?

    original title: not valid?

Dell you provided with what we call an OEM of Windows version. OEM versions are related to the computer first it is installed on and can not be moved / installed on another computer.

You need to buy a 'Full' version retail of windows (if the computer that you want to use never had an earlier version of Windows AND valid a certificate of authenticity).

You can use an 'Upgrade' of Windows Vista (or Windows 7) retail version if Windows XP or Vista has been installed and you have always a product key and the COA.

  • The Windows 7 Professional product key you typed is invalid for activation?

Hi, I'm a user of Dell who recently installed Windows 8. He wouldn't let me dualboot, so I installed it on my C: drive. I then installed 7 on my D: drive (I also have an E: drive but it is for storage). Now I get the following error message 'the Windows 7 Professional product key you typed is invalid for activation' I went to the proproties system and clicked on activiate now. After that, I have 3 choices.

1 buy a new product key.

    2. enter a new product key.

    3. contact Microsoft to help solve this problem.

So I tried clicking on the third on. Then this help file came.
