  Yep, win 8 64-bit.  Here's what the "system information" said for my machine:

  If I understand the 'x 64' means 64-bit.

  Dreamweaver MX 2004 installed from the original CD to the top without any problem except for the activation glitch which, in hindsight, would have been processed in 2 seconds with the correct serial number from Adobe and I opened my eyes.  Just for the record, the correct serial number according to the helpx page is DWD700-56626-60325-58074.

  MX is the latest version of DW which was created by Macromedia, before the Adobe acquisition. I do not think that it was never actually supported by Adobe, but definitely not now (I think that DWCS6 is the oldest version still supported).   It all depends on what version of MySQL, your server is running. If it's MySQL
  4.1 or higher, you can use a subselect like this query:

  SELECT * FROM MyTable
  WHERE seriesDate = (SELECT MAX (seriesDate) from myTable)

  If your server is running an earlier version of MySQL, you should use
  SELECT successively two queries: the first to create a SQL variable.
  the second to perform the actual selection like this:

  SELECT @latest: = MAX (seriesDate) FROM myTable

  SELECT * FROM MyTable
  WHERE seriesDate = @latest

  The way that you do in Dreamweaver is a little complicated, so I
  won't go in unless you are using a version of MySQL.
