Add esxi host to vCenter fails

Hello world

I recently installed vCenter Server. I added the first host by the name of full domain with no problems at all. I tried to add the second host and he stopped the vCenter service and I have my client I disconnected.  When I restart the service and connect through the client, the host is as disconnected displaying 7 VM 12 of offline as well. All virtual machines and on the first host are always connected without any alarm.

This server was connected to another server vCenter, more than a month and deleted successfully, I can add. I tried to unplug and reconnect several times, restart management agents and manually uninstall the vCenter agent using the console "unsupported."

One thing I noticed, is that it gets to 8 or 9 percent, and that's when the vCenter service is stopped. I opened a second client to watch where it stops and it is just after "Select the virtual NETWORK adapter" full show then nothing.

Any help would be much appreciated!

Thank you

Ahh. There is your situation.

Stop the virtual machine. Click on remove inventory.

Go to your other ESXi host. Browse the data store, find the folder of the virtual machine, right-click on the VM.vmx file and add to the inventory.

It works and're you good to go.

Conversely when you need your choice.

  • Cannot add ESXi host to vCenter Server

    Hello

I created a home set up a VMware datacenter for study purposes. I currently have 2 virtual machines: an ESXi host with vCenter Server Appliance deployed on this subject.

I configured the server vCenter through web interface device and I have connected using vSphere Client.

I created a data center, but when I try to add a host, I get "ERROR: the request exceeded."
Connection with vSphere client directly to the ESXi host works.

I can connect using SSH to the ESXi host.

I have disabled the firewall on the ESXi host.

I have read many articles on the kbase but nothing helped me to solve this problem.

    You have any ideas?

    I finally got to understand.

It seems like my vmware workstation is not connected to the esxi as a physical host in my local network host, and so I was able to ping it unit of vCenter Server (but it worked the other way around, and that's why I thought it was ok).

After the connection to the physical LAN of VMware workstation settings, everything worked fine.

  • Can no longer add ESXi host to vCenter but OK VI Client connects

I removed an ESXi host in a cluster on vCenter. Now when I try to add the host (whether for the cluster or stand-alone) the add hosts Wizard appears and has the correct information, but when I cliquerai on closing, that nothing happens for a few minutes, then I get the error:

Unable to reach the specified host... Maybe it's because this host is not available on the network, there is a problem with the network configuration or management on the host services do not react.

However, I can connect to the host directly with the VI client and which works very well, even though the events tab displays "VFAT: 2583: Possible FAT Corruption." My copy of ESXi is on a flashdrive in a HP Blade.

I tried to reboot the host, but it makes no difference. Several of the responses to other users of similar problems is recommended to perform "service vmware-vpxa restart" on the host, but this does not apply to ESXi. I also tried to restart the vCenter, but that makes no difference either.

    Any ideas?

    Thank you

    Will be

Download iso hpvm-recovery on HP site and reinstall ESXi on flash drive.

UPD: Yes, as Neil said, check your key USB HP if you bought ESXi Embedded. If you have the Green key aluminum, require the replacement of HP. And then, you definitely have to download iso that I mentioned above

  • vCenter crashes when you add esxi hosts

When I add an esxi host to vcenter, it crashes when it comes to installing the agent vcenter at the bottom of the screen. Then my vi client will expire and say he lost the connection. What of weird is that my vcenter is just a virtual machine sitting inside the physical esxi server, I am trying to add. My connection is both high speed broadband as well. I don't understand not for vcenter IN the esxi server, I try to add, you would think that the connection should be fairly quick. My vcenter vm using windows xp pro 32-bit.

When you run the add in vCenter you are connected to the local ESX and vCenter through the vSphere client?  I don't think that cause this problem, but if you are connected to two, during the add, delete the vSphere client connection in the ESX and try to add it again.  In addition, if you publish newspapers at the time of failure:

    ESX

    / var/log/vmkwarning

    / var/log/VMkernel

    var

    vCenter

    Journal of vpxd

Is this the only ESX add that causes the problem?  You can VMotion the vCenter to another ESX Server and try to add the ESX problem?

  • Adding esxi host to vcenter

    Hello

I can't add a 5.1 ESXi host to VCenter server (5.1). When I try to add the host to vcenter, I get an error message "a general system error occurred, VMODL incompatibility between VC and ESXi."

    Need help.

Usually this error appears when the ESXi host, you're trying to add has a newer version than vCenter.  Depending on your case, both have same version. In fact, it should work fine without any problem.

Can you please confirm the ESXi and vCenter versions? Also can you please post numbers comes together?

  • Manage an ESXi host using vCenter Server?

I understand it is possible and requires of the specific licenses for ESXi hosts, even if I find information on the VMWare site a bit confused as to what I need exactly. We have-

    1 License Server Standard 4 x vCenter

4 x vSphere Enterprise license 4 (who manage our ESX 4 hosts this site)

3 (and soon 4) remote sites that have the same server ESXi

I would like to be able to manage ESXi host using vCenter as well, is this possible with what we have? If this isn't the case, can someone direct me as to what it takes?

    Thank you

You need the standard by CPU socket for each host license to add to vCenter.

You can always create a separate environment and get the Essentials Bundle (up to 3 guests max) for $500:

    http://store.VMware.com/servlet/ControllerServlet?Action=displayPage&env=base&locale=en_US&siteid=VMware&ID=ProductDetailsPage&ProductID=126843700&RESID=psfyPAoBAlkAACQ2y-kAAAAX&rests=1277824287882

So you should have 2 vCenter servers.

Found the problem as vCenter 6.0 version I was running. I was running an older version of the VC and the current version of ESXi.
Downloaded the current version and reinstalled and all good.

  • Add ESXi4 host to vCenter 5.5 has failed, host do not support VSANS

Hi all. I have to build a laboratory to test running with vCenter 5.5 and a server Dell PE 1950 ESXi 4.  I try to add the ESXi 4 host to vCenter 5.5 (towards a test cluster), however, the process of adding a host failed with the error message "host"x.x.x.x"does not support VSANS".  If anyone of you experience this problem, and is there a way around this problem?  I understand VSAN is a new feature on ESXi 5.1 and later, but I don't expect you to stop me adding ESXi 4 on the cluster... Thank you.

My bad.  I thought about it.  I activated the VSANS on the cluster; Once I disabled the option to VSAN on the cluster, I am able to add the host ESXi 4...

  • Add a 5.1 ESXI host to vcenter server 5.0

    Hi all

I just installed an esxi5.1 host and tried to add in vcenter server 5.0 without success.

    The error is:

A general error occurred: Timed waits vpxa to start

Is it possible to do? If not, is documented somewhere? I searched a lot and found nothing relevant.

The installation was made using an iso file, the new facility, in a shared, storage warehouse that has been formatted.

I don't want vcenter server 5.1 as the impact of my infrastructure is high.

    Thanks for the help!

VMware product interoperability matrix got the update and you would need 5.1 vCenter to manage 5.1 ESXi hosts

  • Cannot access ESXi host in Vcenter after moving to accommodate different subnet

I moved a different host EXSi 5.5 on a new subnet at a physical site.  The host has been identified by IP not the DNS name.  After the start of Vcenter, I realized my mistake.  The host is always identified by the old IP so it appears as disconnected.  I was hoping I'd be able to simply change the identification of IP address, but have not been able to see how to do this.  I also tried to remove the host (this configuration has a data center and a host), but I can't do it.  I can't add the host (with the new IP address) I get an error message that the data store is identified with the original host.

Is there an easy way to this?

Welcome to the community - you need to remove the old entry in your inventory (using the command delete inventory) and then re-add the ESXi host FULL domain name.

I also moved it to a more appropriate forum-

  • Unable to add previous hosts to vCenter device

Greetings.  We are migrating our guests to new hardware.  We had three hosts for running ESXi 5.5.0 - 1331820 with the vCenter device on one of them.  Everything worked well.  In the process of moving virtual machines around, vCenter device has been deleted (intentionally).  We recreated the device of the OVA 5.5.0.5201 vCenter and ran through the Installation Wizard as previously.

Now, when you add one of the existing hosts to vCenter, it finds the host and displays information.  When the user clicks on finish, it works quickly up to 80% and the host appears, and then disconnects.  The log shows: add host independent, added host, unable to connect host computer in the data center; connection error host, removed in the data center.

The error showing is: cannot communicate with the specified host (x.x.x.x). The host may not be available on the network, may have a network configuration problem, or that the management on this host services may not respond.

Now the stupid thing is that we can not even add the host on which the vCenter unit is on.  In addition, all hosts and vCenter unit are on the same network of management.  There is no firewall doesn't block all ports.  I read through a lot of the display of the Knowledge Base, and most is in regards to incorrect IP addresses or ports blocked or similar.  I checked through everything and could not find anything wrong.

Last thing is that we amazed the ESXi host that had the vCenter device on it and re-installed 5.5.0 - 1623387 ESXi (version a little more recent than before) and reinstalled the that vCenter device exactly as before.  Now we can add that the host but still cannot add other hosts.  So it appears the issue is something with the hosts and not the device vCenter.

    Anyone have any ideas?

I run in to the same kind of problems with other factors.

FWIW, have you tried the following in this order? 1 stop the vpxa on host, 2 service. Stop the service vmware-vpxd on the vcenter server, 3. Start the vmware-vpxd on the vcenter server, 4 service. Start the serivce vpxa on the host. Then try to add.

  • Upgrade 5.0 ESXi host w / vCenter on it

Hi people, forgive me if this isn't in the right place. Finally move the update and patches of my three hosts ESXi 5.0 with Update Manager. I was quite easily able to update two of my guests with managers to upgrade to a more recent version, however puzzled on what to do with the host that hosts my vCenter on that server? We have VMware essentials if we do not have to use Vmotion. Is there an easy way to update this host without vCenter cloning and move to another host to update? Advice or tips or news to point me in the right direction would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance for your time and help!

I guess your vCenter is on the shared storage - connect to the host of your power VM vCenter down the VM and remove from the inventory of the hosts - go to one of the hosts that has been already updated and add the virtual machine to inventory and run it - and now, you're ready to use the Update Manager to update host rest.

  • Add ESXi hosts to vSphere Client

We have 7 servers ESX and ESXi 8 servers.

Six of the ESX servers are sitting in a cluster and the last of them is located in its own cluster.

It's nice to manage all 7 ESX servers in a vSphere Client.

8 ESXi servers, I've been managing each with their own vSphere Client connection.

Is it possible to create a cluster of ESXi in vSphere and add each of the ESXi hosts to this cluster of '? Or even a "cluster"?

I tried and I get the following error.

"License not available to perform the operation. ESXi 4 for Host 192.168.1.10 Server license does not include the agent for ESX Server vCenter. Upgrade the license. »

We don't have a budget to upgrade the more liceneses. I don't mean to make HA or DRS on the ESXi hosts. I'd just like to see servers running on them for purposes of inventory without having to have 9 vSphere customers open.

We have a license entirely vCenter Server so I think we should be able to add these ESXi servers.

    Any help would be appreciated.

You must have at least vSphere Standard license for each host you wish to manage with vCenter. Free ESXi cannot be connected to vCenter.

    Hi Roger,

    Two questions:

    • What is the version of your R910 iDRAC6?
    • If you run the following command, then what is the result you get?

    WinRM e cimv2/root/dcim/DCIM_LifecycleJob - u: - p: - r: https: / //wsman:443 - SkipCNCheck - SkipCACheck - SkipRevocationCheck - auth: base - encoding: utf-8

    • Is it possible to restart your server? If so, can you check if CSIOR is enabled on the server and are you able to see running system services?

You can get information about CSIOR on this link:
