Additional installation of hard drives... help!

My HP Pavilion D4100E has an internal hard drive bay that can accommodate two additional internal drives, but I can only find a housing of additional interface on the motherboard. Am I missing something? Are there other places in the interface that I'm missing that are far from the area where my first hard disk is connected? In addition, in outline form reading here, it says that there two open "external bays. Is it just a way of saying, he has two USB slots including two external drive can be plugged on, or are there real external bays for hard drives?

Any idea that someone could provide on any of these questions would be greatly appreciated!

According to the specifications of your system, it is possible that the system came with two motherboards. Here are the specifications of the card mother ASUS A8AE - LE Amberine-GL6E and here are the specifications of the card mother MSI MS-7093 Ahi / Ahi2. Refer to these Web pages to determine what motherboard your system. The Amberine has two connectors x IDE for up to four IDE devices and two x serial ATA ports for up to two SATA devices. The Ahi/Ahi2 has two connectors x IDE for up to four IDE devices and 4 x serial ATA ports for up to four SATA devices.

I hope this helps.

    Hello

I bought the HP ENVY 15-as032nr with only 512 GB SSD laptop. I want to add additional 1 to hard drive. Can it be done?

Yes, you have the 512 m2 NVME PCI - e (lucky) drive gig and that goes into a slot and then there is also a slot open for a standard hard disk 2.5 thumbs or SATA SSD. See pages 30-33 of the manual here:

    Repair manuals

It is likely that your laptop does not contain the HDD mounting kit and cable as shown on page 30 and 31 and this note is in the Manual:

The disk spare parts kit hard does not include the rubber hard drive support or cable hard drive. The hard disk rubber support is available using the spare part number 857797-001. The hard drive cable is available by using the spare part number 857806-001

An extra $ 66 for the housing and the cable seems a bit strong, but I couldn't find their sale anywhere other than HP Store.

I had a bad hard drive crash. I installed a new and got the bios to boot from the cd drive, with windows 7

orginal cd of installation in the drive.  He acknowledged drive 0, I clicked again in the options. He created a system partition.

Installed windows 7 apparently very well. Inserted the recovery driver and application and installed disk. Everything seemed fine. This morning I turned it on and it the hard drive error (3F0) Please install an operating system. I shut it down and restarted, it seemed normal.  I installed a few programs, stop it again. Returned by, it starts again and it took me to screen diagnosis saying SMART Check - not installed and short DST - not installed...  Can someone tell me how to remove that partition and I can format the drive in a usb sata enclosure and try again.

Please tell me the correct procedure to return this laptop running to a factory State. I have the original Windows7 and Windows8, Driver and Application for the two OS disks ' are...  I want to stay with the installation Windows7.

Thanks for any help on this problem. I have no idea where I was wrong!

It is not impossible that the new disk is bad, have seen before. It is also possible that the controller sata on the motherboard is bad, but I'd watch this last possibility. You can get an Exchange on the new hard drive?

  • Bad sectors on the hard drive; help to isolate or repair

Hello, recently I discovered that my windows get to slump that closely mimics a gel at a random time. After a lot of research on this topic, I did several diagnostic tests on my laptop and finally reduced to my hard drive.
The problem is evident for the following reasons:
    • When I tried to run chkdsk/r/f, which is always translated by he stuck to "step 4: check the data in the file" around 70%.
    • When the slowdown occurs, the resource monitor from Task Manager for the disk activity showed 1 KB/s (not sure if this is suspicious)
    • Tried various hard drive diagnostic tools. WinDLG gets blocked for a certain sector, but has never even if I waited for 6 h +. SeaTools for DOS has reported that the hard drive failed the tests. Dell diagnostic tool also pointed out the hard drive, is not the test of confidence in some sectors. Toshiba Diagnostics tool did not work as I could not highlight the readers so he could test.
Formally, this means that I have bad sectors on the hard drive and I want to know if there are solutions to 'fix' or isolate him rather than replace the hard drive. The hard drive is only a year old and I would like to get as much time as I can with the drive without having to spend on a new.
In addition, I also came to this post here which seems to reflect the same situation:
However, there are a few parts where I am confused and does not really apply to my situation (for example, meanwhile his stage 5, for me its stage 4). Thanks in advance for any help.

CHKDSK does not indicate a failing hard drive, it indicates problems with the filesystem (NTFS.sys) hard disk.  I like to repeat because that may indicate more out of trouble (if you get several times CHKDSK repair things, then something else is the cause).

    That's what I'm looking for:
"Windows has made corrections to the file system."
    Know me mistakes.

DO NOT use the drivers from the resource CD.  They are overwhelmed when you get them.  Go to the Dell support site and download the latest versions here.

Unfortunately, unless your highly qualified with a soldering iron on small electric parts, then there is no replacement of the part.  Also unfortunately, there is no test for a motherboard problem, so we have to everything else on the rule.

If it passes all the tests, it indicates that it passed all tests.  All these tests are software - they can not physically 'see' a hardware problem, but can deduct that it based on the results of the tests.

I suggest you a few additional tests before start thinking that it's the mobo.  They are Prime95 test and tests stress CPU at this link: http://www.carrona.org/hwdiag.html

I also suggest another facility 'clean' - just to be sure.  Here's what I propose for a clean install:
    [quote]
For testing purposes, it is best to install Windows "clean".
It is, basically, install the way that Microsoft intended (with the drivers from Windows Update).
This procedure is for Windows 7, Vista is similar (but has 2 service packs)

You will need your installation/recovery DVD (s) before you start.  Once you wipe the hard drive, there is no going back!

I tried also to install the updated RAID/AHCI drivers of intel to the windows installation, as recommended by the windows forums - I always get the same error message, even after several attempts to completely reinstall windows.

Several forums, I searched for recommended to change the settings of the HDD (RAID COSM) in the BIOS.

    Hello

The SATA driver is not necessary if you use the Toshiba Recovery disk because the image on the recovery disk contains the SATA driver.
So there must be other reason for it.

In your case, I recommend setting the BIOS settings by default and start over once the recovery procedure.
Maybe something went wrong during the configuration of the OS if second installation is worth a try

Yes, the cable's owner. HP recovery will not install the software from the factory to a 256 gigabytes as the SSD drive, you want to buy. Now let's work on getting to the supported Windows 7 installation if you install it on your Virgin SSD. You are going to need some sort of media set as an external hard drive. We need to get the HDD 1 TB in the Bay of primary and get Windows 7 running on it. The HP recovery disk will work for this.

  • Addition of 4 hard drives to existing Dell R620 Server

    Hello

I have a dell r.620 server which is under warranty until 2016 and the service tag is (service number removed for reasons of confidentiality by the moderator). From now on, he has 4 discs (2 * 146 and 2 * 300 GB - SAS6, 10, of the 2.5, H - CD, E/C).

I want to add more than 4 (4 * 300 GB) to this server. My question is,

    a. have 4 additional disk array?

    b. will be that the controller RAID H710 has connector/ports for all readers of 8?

    c. have we order any other hand to support the 8 discs altogether?

    Thanks for your help...

Yes, your system has the configuration of the 8 disc that has what it takes physically add the 4 discs.

Depending on where you buy your discs, ensure that you buy the kit. Your Dell sales team can easily provide you with the hard drive kit which includes carriers and screws.

Otherwise, buy only bare drives will require carriers and screws purchased separately.

Please let us know that we can help with something more. We will be happy to help you.

  • Satellite P100-307 Exchange HARD drive help/advice needed

    Hello

Thanks for your recent advice on exchanging my 200 GB HDD in to a 500 GB Sized HDD.

Can you please let me know what I should do with the new HARD disk, so that my P100 can recognize (I format etc.)? I would like the existing to the new mirrored HDD... How does go?

Sorry to bother you with this beginner Questions...

    RGDS

Windows will recognize a new hard drive (I assume that you will start the machine from cd) and it has need of formatting it will tell you. You will then need to change the format to FAT32 to NTFS - Windows Help will tell you how to...
If you are keen on the old disk to the new disk of mirror image, then I think that google some research is in order for example "mirror new portable drive ' there are older versions of disk imaging programs available for free download that will handle NTFS. to search for names include Norton Ghost and Acronis.
How do you think 'connect' the old and new readers - for example, external usb box on a network, set up two disks on a pc.
You can copy all the files using the DOS command xcopy with the selector include hidden files/folders.
Your old drive has a hidden for purposes of recovery partition and you must decide how you manage it.

  • New installation of hard drive on Y510

I recently bought a bigger hard drive for my Y510 and I wonder how I'll be able to install it because the computer did not come with a recovery disk as would a dell. And I guess there is no way to add the recovery on the new disc either partition? I have tried searching with no will. Any help would be great...

That's exactly what I did, and it worked like a charm... have not tried restoring to a single key, but I clone the partition of the same size. I encountered an error while trying to boot Windows, but there is nothing that the Vista recovery environment could not fix it for me in a minute or two. I think that the manual fix for this would be to start at a command prompt or from the recovery console and use the commands /fixboot or /fixmbr to take into account the reorganization/resizing partitions.

  • HP Pavilion 15 t-n200 CTO: new hard drive Help

    Hello

Laptop was not start at all or take 15 + minutes to start.  I did a full reset by removing the battery and was still stuck on the Hp logo.  Conducted quick system check.  All passes except Hard Drive short DST check: failed.  Failure ID: GGFFTX-7407SB-MFPV6J-60V103 product ID: F6G93AV

Date of purchase was 08/05/2014 so out of warranty & cannot get help from support.

I guess I need to replace the hard drive?  Is this correct? I need not recover files or data of the machine, so from own is fine.  I want to upgrade to windows 10 once I get it - the initialization of the disorder began when I tried to upgrade, then machine evolves to 8.1.

How can I find the specifications to order a new hard drive to make sure that I get the right thing?  Currently the car is ATA & 500 GB. Machine has Intel Core i5-4200U CPU @ 1.60 GHz Machine is not a touch screen.

Of course, I'd appreciate any help someone could pay before ordering something.  Thank you!

    Manual

See p. 59 for hard drive replacement. Unfortunately, yours requires a bit of work to get on the hard drive, involving a removal of the top cover, but not the motherboard.

You definitely need a new hard drive and the system will accept any 7 or 9.5 mm thickness 2.5-inch wide SATA hard drive or disk solid state drive.

I'll assume that you are located in the United States, unless post you back and let me know if not.

I settle down to less than a mechanical drive of 7200 RPM like this:

OK, I just got a new hard drive for my tx2-1275dx and I got has... well one of them.

    http://www.Amazon.com/Western-Digital-2-5-inch-internal-WD5000BEKT/DP/B003TOE4PQ/ref=pd_ys_iyr_img

It doesn't seem to work, when I put in my laptop and tried to install Windows, it would come to the top, then I went to the start screen and went into the BIOS or anything... I went to run a scan of the hard drive and he said: it did not exist. I guess I screwed up and you have the wrong hard drive, or something...

I'm sure that it was installed correctly, but it seems claws on the end of gold are not the same and I guess there is no way about it is there?

The original drive was a Seagate Momentus 7200.3.  7200 RPM and 320 GB.

EDIT: I'm back there... If anyone has any recommendations for what I need and can be assured, it will work in my tx2... I'd be in your debt. (Hard drive preference preference less $80...)

He did not notice to disconnect the connector from the old HARD drive and plug in again just as in photo (number 3) below.

Steps, how remove and install the HARD disk in this model are indicated in the documentation for the service for this tablet here (page 38).
