'' Additional newspapers on the information '' when connecting to my network.

I can't connect to my home network because of this message "Additional journal information is required to connect to this network." He goes on to say "You need to perhaps select a cirtificate or enter a user name and password to connect to this network". The options are "Enter / select additional log information ' or 'connect to a different network. Ive rang, Microsoft, Netgear, and my ISP and no one can help me. The wired connection, via an ethernet cable, also works perfectly.

Someone has encountered this problem before? How can I get around it?

Hello davies957,

Thank you for visiting the website of Microsoft Windows Vista Community.

I recommend that you check the following:

In the centre network and sharing, machines with questions, make sure that network discovery is turned on. On this same screen, click on connect to a network. You should see a list of available wireless networks. Ensure that the connection attempt is to yours.

If your security provides encryption machines visitors should have the same code encryption.

Let us know if these steps solve your problem.  I hope the information is useful.

Kind regards

  • Satellite A500 - Remove the battery when connected to the network?

    Hello

I bought a new Satellite 500 and I would use it as much as possible. I'm not sure the stage of development of this battery. Should I remove the battery when I use the laptop at all times with the net supply?
Or this does not damage the battery longer years yet there is, or is the problem of the destruction of the battery because of the heat and being reloaded frequently persists?

I'm sorry if I could post to redundantly, but it is difficult to search for information, since I'm not a native speaker.
I encourage you just for a small tip for a related thread if available.

Hi, I am a bit newbie to PC Toshiba laptop (series U) and I was wondering if my laptop has this feature where it bypasses the battery when it is fully charged and the power supply cable is connected?
I see the battery blue led is on even when it is fully charged and the power is connected, it means that my computer is still using the battery?

I'm running a lot and I will not waste my battery life.
    Thanks for any comments.

    Hello

Congratulations on your new machine, I understand that worried you´re for your battery life. I was scared too, but a lot of people here in the forum told me that, in each new machine for many years (i.e. about 6 to 9 years) almost every laptop has an electronic charge that regulates the process of charge of the battery.

Don t worry, if your battery is fully charged, the built-in charging circuit is a special State that is as "cool cool" to maintain your battery and to protect the battery.
S better to keep the battery in the machine then removing it.

    Welcome them

I am running XP SP3 with IE8. A / V is McAfee of ATT Uverse. I downloaded the MSRT tool and ran in safe mode. Can't find any infected files. Has not run mode normal because svchost.exe has exhausted all of the CPU resources. At 8 instances of svchost.exe running at the same time. This computer has only 1 GB of memory and AMD 2 GHz processor. That is to say also jumps at randomly selected sites and opens the Windows SE. Just had it take me to 3 other sites while trying to log on to this site. I have another computer on a home network wireless with Vista, IE8 & Symantec that has no problem. Something other than gasoline and a match is not going to solve this?

OPTION A: There is a good chance that you see the effects of a hijackware infection!

NB: If you had no installed anti-virus application or subscription has expired * when the machine was first infected * and/or your subscription has expired since and/or the machine is not kept fully corrected in Windows Update, don't waste your time with any of the following: Format & reinstall Windows.  A repair install won't help!

    Otherwise...

    1. see if you can download/run the MSRT tool manually: http://www.microsoft.com/security/malwareremove/default.mspx

NB: Run the FULL scan, not analysis FAST!  You may need to download the MSRT on an uninfected machine and then transfer the MRT. EXE to the infected machine and rename it to SCAN. EXE before running it.

2B. Vista or Win7-online this scanner instead: http://onecare.live.com/site/en-us/center/whatsnew.htm

  • WIN8 cannot select the user when connecting more

I used to have the option to select the user to connect as but now I have a screen that says:

Press Ctrl + Alt + Delete or use the Windows Security button to unlock

When I hit Ctrl + Alt + Delete I get only the most recent user login.  If I hit the left arrow right top left of the image, I must return to the Ctrl + Alt + Delete screen.  There is no way I can see to select another user.

If the current user remembers actually disconnect from the screen Ctrl + Alt + Delete I am taken to a login with a choice of the users screen.

This used to work and I don't know if my 5 yo changed something or if a updated Windows did something.  But my wife and son both need to use this notebook so I really need separate accounts.

I found a few long really complex stuff on the ' net on the definition of the strategy group and fiddle with the registry but I know my 5 yo did nothing like that.

    How do I change back?

    Dennis

PS what is the "Windows Security button" anyway?

I realized that I had recently installed Cisco AnyConnect VPN software to connect to the work.  Which of - installed and now life is still happy.  I will contact Cisco.

Sorry for the short reply above.  Validation has been broken here earlier today and several machines at the same time making a response and a new post, I didn't type a bunch just to get the "Oops, something went wrong" again.

  • How to remove Skype in the taskbar when connected

    Hello

I would like to be able to rely on "Skype" > "Close", then the program would close and not only reduce the window - instead of having to click on the notification list, click on the Skype logo and press "quit".

Anyone of you guys know how to do this? (Or if it's possible?)

    Thank you. (:

    Mathilde.

Tools > settings > advanced > Miss keep Skype in the taskbar when minimized. Litte Skype icon down by the clock is Skype in systray not the bar of tasks, and as systray programs you must righclick and leave them, this is normal.

    Hello

I suggest you refer to the link mentioned to ensure that Media Center has been configured properly with the TV below:

Getting started with Windows Media Center

You may also like to refer to the below mentioned link and check if the cables were connected as they are supposed to be:

Connect your computer to a TV

Note: If your computer is connected to a TV, notes that many video cards and cable types do not support audio signals. You may need to connect the sound card of your computer directly to your speakers.

  • Windows 7 freezes when connected to a network

I have a computer that is running Windows 7 x 64 edition and an Acer notebook running Windows 7 x 86 edition and I have this problem on both of them.  The BIOS is upgraded to the latest version, all Windows updates and the latest drivers are installed.

If I connect a router that is permanently connected to the internet (internet is provided through the connection standard network) or one of the computers, everything works fine.  My computers are always on and even for the days without rebooting.

However, as soon as I connect to the internet manually (or a virtual private network) via the network and sharing Center (which means that my network sharing Center shows that I am connected to my network and the second connection), the computer hangs after a few moments.  If I nothing, just leave the computer on idle when you are logged in this respect, it can take anything between 5 minutes and a few hours before it freezes.  If I'm working on the pc, usually only a few minutes.  If I listen to music (for example Winamp) while working, less than 5 minutes.  This happens regardless of what application I work in (Visual Studio, Outlook, Excel, Google Chrome) and no matter if the request, I work uses the network that I am connected or not.

OK, the gel.  What happens is the computer crashes completely.  The mouse pointer stops to move and no keys or whatever it is that you can get the computer out of the gel.  Must reset hard.  No event log is created.  If music was playing before the Frost, the last note that was played just repeat until reset.

It's not a too big problem on my pc that I'm usually connected to a DSL router, but on the laptop that I use for travel, it is a huge problem because I connect to the internet using a 3G dongle which shows as a network that I am connected in the network and sharing Center.

Laptop is an Acer Travelmate 6592 G.  I used to run Windows Vista x 86-based computers and never had this problem.  I had this problem on my pc and laptop with Windows 7 x 86 edition, and then a clean installed x 64 on a new partition on my pc.  The problem is there from the beginning (before anti virus or all other installs).

My apologies.  I should have updated this thread.

On my side, it seems that AVG was the question.  As soon as I removed AVG, the problem disappeared.  I am now using Avira on my pc with Microsoft Security Essentials on my laptop... Did not have a single freeze since about June and my computer is never turned off.

  • MapPoint 2009 does not start when connected to a network

    Hello

I'm currently trying to install Mappoint Europe 2009 on an HP under Windows XP SP3 laptop. Previously he has worked well with no problems at all - until now. After the installation of Mappoint Euro 2009 application will only work if the laptop is not connected to a network or the DHCP client service is prevented from running by using msconfig (essentially the same thing as pulling the cable). I have now tried this on 2 different laptops and can't seem to find what is causing the problem.

I tried to install, run as administrator and also to give the administrative user account access, but they all have the same result. As you can tell from above, I have also lived the tedious process of using msconfig and selective startup options after seeing the other messages in relation to similar problems on Win7. So far, no joy.

At the moment the only way that the user can access Mappoint is to disconnect from everything and remove the cable - use Mappoint and then plug it back in and re-login to all new - which is not ideal.

It seems to be a bit of a weird error then I was wondering if anyone has found this before or has any ideas?

  • How can I stop posting the information to connect to the sites protected by Word

When I start to connect to my email accounts, once I typed the first letter, AutoComplete in start. I do not want the function of login or password

    Hi duffer48,

Firefox has a very powerful password manager. You can access it by going on Tools > Options > Security. If you want to disable it completely, you can just uncheck remember passwords for Sites. If you just want to remove your connection information stored for a few specific sites, you can click on the passwords saved and remove the entries for the sites you want stored.

You should take a look at this Knowledge Base article. He has a lot of information on the use and management of passwords.

    Hope this helps!
