address bar is a grey bar

I am running Ubuntu 14.04 with the gnome desktop. Instead of a list the web address I see a bar gray with different thicknesses. On a secure site the bar turns green. How to display real address?

  • How to secure a safe address bar?

Mozilla is defined as my Start Page, in the settings, and the Green lock will appear in the search bar.

However, with just a single letter typed in the search bar - a grey globe is displayed.

I tried the "Refresh" and even removed Fire Fox & reinstalled after a complete cleaning of the registry.

    Suggestions please?

Once you open a page via the HTTPS protocol, then the lock should reappear after the end of the loading of the page.
This has to do with pageproxystate = "valid" that goes to pageproxystate = 'invalid' when you start typing in the address bar.

  • How to eliminate the sites listed immediately below the address bar?

In the grey area immediately below the address bar are four icons, the most visited, loading and two other sites that, for privacy reasons I don't want not illustrated here. (On the far right is favorite with a star next to it). I have not put a some of them here. How can I get rid of the two I don't want not shown?

Hello Rwarren, you can remove them as normal bookmarks - right click (or on a Mac, cmd + click) them & select 'delete '.

  • My address bar is not "go".

The address bar at the top of the browser window does not work. It displays the address of the page, that is fine, but when I type in an address and hit either "enter" or the little 'go to this address' forward arrow, nothing happens. In addition, the arrow is always grey.

It has nothing to do with the address is invalid, as it happens, even if I copy an address of a page I was on earlier (which I just to check).

Ah well, looks like Firefox 3 Aero Theme for Firefox 4 + 2.0.0 , which is by the same person as the theme I was using and looks almost the same as 'Firefox 3 thème' does not cause this problem, which means that its fixed. WunderBar!

  • If http: is grayed out in the address bar is a security warning?

I had a recent problem with Windows 7 and icons blurry bleeding through the menu bar.

In researching it, I came across a statement that if the http is grey on in the address bar, this means a security problem and you can be monitored.

I never even noticed this on the address bar but the http: is grayed out and the rest of the address is in black letters. This w/o the cursor on the address bar. When I put the cursor on the address bar, then the full address shows black including the http.

Is it really a security problem?

    Thank you

    Hello Doug,

Thanks for posting your question on the Microsoft community.

I would like to know some information about the problem so that we can help you better.

The problem is specific to any particular browser such as Internet explorer?

Thank you for details on the issue.

This problem can occur either because of incorrect browser settings or if any infection as malware or virus is present in Windows.

I would suggest trying the following methods and check if it helps.

    Method 1:
Run this Microsoft fixit and check number.
    Reference:
Troubleshoot Internet Explorer to IE quick, safe and stable
    https://support.Microsoft.com/en-us/mats/ie_performance_and_safety/en-us
(Valid for all versions of Internet explore in Windows 7)

If this does not help, use method 2.

    Method 2:
Microsoft safety scanner run and check.
    Reference:
    Microsoft safety scanner
    http://www.Microsoft.com/security/scanner/en-us/default.aspx

Note: The data files that are infected must be cleaned only by removing the file completely, which means that there is a risk of data loss.

    I hope this information helps.

Please let us know if you need more help.

    Thank you

  • How can I stop Firefox giving search suggestions in the address bar?

From the last update, if I start typing something in the address bar, I get random search suggestions as if I was using the search instead. How can I disable this? It is kind of annoying, and it really bothers me. I read in another article that I went to about: config and checked "I'll be careful", it would stop, but I'm worried it may screw up my browser. Is there another way to solve this problem? Or do I just move a superior browser?

No it won't cause other problems as long as you do not change other preferences.

  • How to turn off the suggestion of "Search with Google" on the address bar?

  • My address bar search has changed and it's really annoying.

    Hello.
Today, my firefox has changed something in the address bar search system.
Now the first link it provides is for "popular sites" or your partners no idea but it's boring as hell.
He destroyed all my combinations of site search...
When I wrote normally shortcuts like 'pwn' 'kol' 'da' for my sites now the first link provided to ask me "want to pwn/kol/da search in google? Dailymotion? »
No ffs I don't want that. If I wanted to, I would use the search bar.
I tried to fix it but can't find it in the normal options and won't play with the config of my own.
Where I can it turn off? I can't stand it.

You can set browser.urlbar.unifiedcomplete to false to remove the suggestion to visit the location bar page menu drop-down.
Note that the sound is not really new, but it has now enabled by default in Firefox 43.

You can open the topic: config page via the address bar.
You can accept the warning and click on "I'll be careful" to continue.

  • I want to search in the address bar

I have the new firefox 43, when I type things in the bar recipient, my most used web sites pop up at the top and I press down arrow once and get the website, I want, but now article 1 is always the search option, I don't don't need or want it to be there I have a search to the search bar.

How do I 100% completely remove the search from the address bar icon so that the 1st item in the list goes back to be web addresses?

PS I also find it very disconcerting that during this update we asked me if I wanted to search option/suggestions in the address bar and I said no, but when I was looking into options to get rid of this 'new' this option has been activated.

What others of my preferences during the installation you just ignore?

This is a new feature in Firefox 43. To turn it off to do this:

    1. Go about: config in Firefox
    2. Click on the I'll be careful button
    3. Locate the Boolean browser.urlbar.unifiedcomplete
    4. Change the false value

Note: You may need to restart Firefox for the changes to take effect.

  • How to prevent the address bar to view the same site twice

Since your 43.0 update, whenever I type in a URL, it first shows me "visit [site]" then "[website]" by itself directly underneath. It is redundant and was not here before and I don't like it much.

For example, when I type "t" in the address bar, it shows 'visit tumblr.com'first, then tumblr.com se below. How can I stop to say "visit [site]" and just display the site itself, as before?

It is a new feature in the latest version of Firefox. To disable this feature, follow these steps:

    2. Press the I'll be careful

  • When I type in the address bar the first option on the menu drop-down is always of the form 'visit' or 'search' How do I prevent these from appearing?

Until typing today on behalf of the part of a site or a page that is shown a list of suggestions from my previous navigation. However, since installed 43, the first option is now either visit: xxxx, which is always a site, never a page, or when the string does not have a page it goes to the research: what I just typed.

I would like to disable this, but I am struggling to find the solution for it.

Can someone point me in the right direction please?

You can set browser.urlbar.unifiedcomplete to false to remove the suggestion of visit page from the drop-down list.

You can open the topic: config page via the address bar.
You can accept the warning and click on "I'll be careful" to continue.

I want to block Ask.fm, because I deleted the whole story but when I type A is always the first thing that appears... I want to eliminate all memory of it

When you type? The address bar?

When that appears, use the arrow keys to select this entry and press DELETE.

  • I wish increast the font size in the address bar, cession bar and tab headings do not see how

I would like to increase the font size or make the "BOLD" font, so I can read them better for the address bar in particular, but also for the entries tab, the menu bar and the bookmarks bar. Is this possible?

    Thank you

I don't think that there is still a setting for this in Firefox. You can, however, install the addon address bar font size bigger your version of Firefox to adjust the size of the font of the address bar.

Let us know if it works for you.
