ADF Faces & BC: best practices for project implementation

Season greetings my fellow JDevelopers!

Our group of software works with ADF for about 5 years and over the years, we have accumulated a good amount of knowledge in collaboration with JDeveloper and ADF. A large part of our current structure of demand was resurrected in the early days of JDeveloper 10 where there are more codes samples floating around, then there was the 'best practices' documentation. I understand that this is a subjective question, and varies from one site to another, but in my view, there is a set of common practices, our group began to identify as essential to the rationalization of a development process (reusable decorated with user interface components, modular common biz logic, the development with svn, continuous integration/build team, etc...). One of our development objectives is to minimize the dependence between each engineer as everyone is responsible for the client and middle tier application without losing the consistency of coding. After speaking with a couple of the ACE to the last openworld, I understand a large part of our planned architectural requirements are filled with JDeveloper 11 (with the introduction of models, declarative elements, bordered of workflow, etc...) but lack of time on the results expected to come, we are still almost a year away before moving to this new version. Here's some of our group/application.

JDeveloper version: 10.1.3.4
Number of developers: 7
Responsibilities of the developer: build both faces & collection bc

We currently have two applications in our production environments.
1.A flavor of the dynamic module from Steve Muench jdbc connection credentials
2 core application ADF Faces & BC

In our Core ADF Faces application, we get the following structure:

OurApplication
-OurApplicationLib (common framework files)
-OurApplicationModel (project BC)
src/org/ourapp/module1
-src/org/ourapp/module 2

-OurApplicationView (project faces)
OurApp/public_html/module1
OurApp/public_html/module2

SRC/org/ourapp/support/module1
SRC/org/ourapp/support/module 2

SRC/org/ourapp/pageDefs /.

Total number of application Modules: 15 (including a RootApplicationModule that references the specific AMs module)
Display of number objects total: 171
Total number of entities: 58
Total number of files BC: 1734
Total number of JSP pages: 246
Total number of pageDefs: 236
Total number of cases of navigation in faces - config.xml: 127
Total number of application files: 4183
Application size total: 180megs

Are there other ways to divide this application? IE: module specific projects with distinct faces-config files/databindings? If so, how can these files be "hooked" together? A couple of aces has recommended that we must separate all files of the entity in its own project that make sense. In addition, we look at maven builds that must remove the pesky model.jpr files that gets constantly "touched". I would love to hear how other groups organize their application and anything else, they would like to share as a best practice ADF.

See you soon,.
Wes

After discussions in the summer/fall by members of the ADF methodology group, I have published a wiki page ADF Coding Standards that people may find useful:

It aims to ADF 11g and is intended to be a living document - if you have any comments or suggestions please post them to the ADF methodology ([http://groups.google.com/group/adf-methodology?hl=en]) google group.

There is not a general guide outside the configuration guide of product on the support page.

Partners have access to a guide designed for deployments of the value which is fairly comprehensive, but that is not published publicly.

There are some useful tips on recent presentations from Cisco Live in this area, but they are more PowerPoint as the deployment guide.

  • Best practices for the implementation of META tags for content items?

    Hello
The portal site, I am responsible for the management of our content (www.sers.state.pa.us) runs on the following WebCenter products:

    WebCenter Interaction 10.3.0.1
    WebCenter Publisher 6.5
    WebCenter Studio 2.2 MP1
    10gR 3 content services

The I work for the Agency is one of many for the commonwealth of PA, who use this product suite, and I meet some confusion on how to implement META tags for content of our site, so we can have effective search results. According to the [explanation of META tag standards W3C website | http://www.w3schools.com/tags/tag_meta.asp], description tags, keywords, etc., should be between the cephalic region of the HTML document. However, with the configuration of the suite WebCenter is implemented, how the head section of the HTML is closed at the end of the model code to a common header portlet. I was advised to add fields to our entry presentation models and data for the content to add these meta fields, however, since they are then placed in the body section of the HTML accordingly, these tags fail to have a positive impact on search results. Instead, a lot of our content points, when searched, the description in the search results displays only the text that appears in the header and the left navigation of our model, which arrived earlier in the body section of the HTML.

Please advise possible or methods that would be best to implement the use of META tags so that we can our pages containing content to come to the top in the search results with relevant data.

    Thanks in advance,
    Brian

Basically, you want to add tags portals in the presentation model to move the meta tags of the element of the header of the actual document content. Check out http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E13158_01/alui/wci/docs103/devguide/apidocs/tagdocs/common/includeinhead.html

  • Best practices for the implementation of environment laboratory in ESX 3.5

    Hi all

I currently have two systems ESX 3.5 in a dmz on a network for a lab environment. The place has a few other external servers such as dc, servers, exchange, ect, so even if it is in a demilitarized zone and a controlled DMZ network I want to ensure that the ESX 3.5 systems are in a sandbox environment. They need 1 external network adapter so that the virtual machine can download patches ect but the rest of the communication, I would like to be established between the VM internally. In other words, in a world of VM Workstation 6 I would have only 1 bridged network adapter but all others would be articulate under internal network cards.   This lab will be available for a lot of people like someone not running a DHCP server or a new domain controller which could knock out the other test environments in the demilitarized zone.

How would you put this together with the vswitches? is Director of the laboratory, the best way to do this?

To my knowledge there is no way "internal" to do. Workstation is by design the use of test/development and not the production-oriented and therefore the set of features is different from ESX (i).

  • Best practices for network configuration of vSphere with two subnets?

Well, then I'll set up 3 ESXi hosts connected to storage shared with two different subnets. I configured the iSCSI initiator and the iSCSI with his own default gateway - 192.168.1.1 - targets through a Cisco router and did the same with the hosts configured with its own default gateway - 192.168.2.2. I don't know if I should have a router in the middle to route traffic between two subnets since I use iSCSI ports linking and grouping of NETWORK cards. If I shouldn't use a physical router, how do I route the traffic between different subnets and use iSCSI ports binding at the same time. What are the best practices for the implementation of a network with two subnets vSphere (ESX host network: iSCSI network)? Thank you in advance.

Install the most common iSCSI would be traffic between hosts and

the storage is not being routed, because a router it could reduce performance.

If you have VLAN 10(192.168.1.0/24) iSCSI, VLAN 20 (192.168.2.0/24) ESX

MGMT and VLAN 30 (192.168.3.0/24) comments VMs and VLAN 40 (192.168.4.0/24)

vMotion a deployment scenario might be something like:

    NIC1 - vSwitch 0 - active VMK (192.168.1.10) MGMT, vMotion VMK (192.168.4.10)

    standby

    NIC2 - vSwitch 1 - current (VLAN30) guest virtual machine port group

    NIC3 - vSwitch 2 - active VMK1 (192.168.1.10) iSCSI

    NIC4 - vSwitch 2 - active VMK2 (192.168.1.11) iSCSI

    NIC5 - vSwitch 1 - current (VLAN30) guest virtual machine port group

    NIC6 - vSwitch 0 - MGMT VMK (192.168.2.10) standby, vMotion

    VMK (192.168.4.10) active

You would place you on VLAN 10 storage with an IP address of something like target

192.168.1.8 and iSCSI traffic would remain on this VLAN. The default value

gateway configured in ESXi would be the router the VLAN 20 with an ip address of

something like 192.168.2.1. I hope that scenario help set some options.

  • best practices for placing the master image

Im doing some performances / analysis of load tests for the view and im curious about some best practices for the implementation of the image master VM. the question is asked specifically regarding disk i/o and throughput.

My understanding is that each linked clone still reads master image. So if that is correct, then it seems that you would like the main image to reside in a data store that is located on the same table as the rest of the warehouses of data than the House related clones (and not some lower performing table). The reason why I ask this question, it is that my performance tests is based on some future SSD products. Obviously, the amount of available space on the SSD is limited, but provides immense quantities of e/s (100 k + and higher). But I want to assure you that if, by putting the master image on a data store that is not on the SSD, I am therefore invalidate the IO performance I want high-end SSD.

This leads to another question, if all the linked clones read from the master image, which is general practices for the number of clones related to deploy by main image before you start to have problems of IO contention against this single master image?

    Thank you!

    -

    Omar Torres, VCP

This isn't really neccissary. Linked clones are not directly related to the image of the mother. When a desktop pool is created and used one or more data stores Parent is copied in each data store, called a replica. From there, each linked clone is attached to the replica of the parent in its local data store. It is a replica of unmanged and offers the best performance because there is a copy in every store of data including linked gradient.

  • [ADF, JDev12.1.3] Best practices for maintaining a form validation

    Hallo,

in my application, I need to create a registration form which contains fields that must be validated (for example they should follow a format like e-mail, phone number, tax code,...).

If the data inserted by the user are ok, a new record in my custom db table Users will be created.

I would like to know which are the best practices for maintaining the validation, which means the place where the controls must be made and a message to the user who fills out the form when something goes wrong.

The best vo or EO or managed bean? Or some controls should be put in the OS, others in the VO and other in the managed bean?

I would be happy if you could give me some examples.

    Thank you

    Federico

Assuming you want the validation on the value of the field to any screen data can be entered in (and possibly web services that rely on the same BC ADF) then put the validation on the definition of the attribute in the EO.

If you want to add a little more friendliness and eliminate some of the network traffic to the server, you can also implement the validation client in your page - for example by using the regular expression validator.

  • Best practices for the application of sharpness in your workflow

Recently I tried to get a better understanding of some of the best practices for sharpening in a workflow. I guess that I didn't know, but there are several places to sharpen. Who are the best? They are additive?

My typical workflow involves capture an image with a professional DSLR in RAW or JPEG or import into Lightroom and export to a JPEG file for the screen or printing of two lab and local.

There are three places in this workflow to add sharpening. In the DSLR manually into Lightroom and when exporting a JPEG file or print directly from Lightroom

It is my understanding that sharpening is added to RAW images even if you add sharpening in your DSLR. However sharpening will be added to the JPEG from the camera.

Back to my question, it is preferable to manually the sharpness in the SLR in Lightroom or wait until you export or output of your printer or final JPEG file. And additive effects? If I add sharpening to the three places I am probably more sharpening?

You have to treat them differently both formats. Data BULLIES never have any sharpening applied by the camera, only JPEG files. Sharpening is often considered to be a workflow where there are three steps (see here for a seminal paper on this idea).

    I. a step sharpening of capture which compensates for the loss of sharp in detail due to the Bayer matrix and the filter anti-repliement and sometimes the lens or diffraction.

II. A creative sharpening step where some details in the image are 'highlighted' sharpness (do you eyelashes on a model's face), and

III. output sharpening, where you fix the loss of sharpness due to the scale/resampling for the properties of the average output (as blur because of an impression how process works or blurry because of the way that a screen LCD sets out its pixels).

These three are implemented in Lightroom. I. and II. are essential, and basically must always be performed. II. until your creative minds. I. is the sharpening that see you in the Panel to develop. You need zoom at 1:1 and optimize the settings. The default settings are OK but quite conservative. Usually you can increase the value of the mask a little so that you're not sharpen noise and play with the other three sliders. Jeff Schewe gives an overview of a strategy simple to find the optimal settings here. It is for the cab, but the principle remains the same. Most of the photos will benefit from optimization a bit. Don't go overboard, but just OK for smoothness to 1:1.

Stage II as I have said, is not essential, but it can be done using the local adjustment brush, or you can go to Photoshop for this. Stage III, however, is very essential. This is done in the export, the print panel Panel or the web. You can't really get a glimpse of these things (especially the sharpening printing-oriented) and it will take a little experimentation to see what you like.

For jpeg, sharpening is done already in the camera. You could add a small extra capture sharpening in some cases, or simply lowering the sharpening in camera and then have more control in the post, but generally, it is best to leave it alone. Stage II and III, however, are still necessary.

  • Just improved m tips on best practices for sharing files on a Server 2008 std.

The field contains about 15 machines with two domain controllers, one's data is the app files / print etc...  I just upgraded from 2003 to 2008 and want to get advice on best practices for the establishment of a group of file sharing. Basically I want each user to have their their own records, but also a staff; folder. Since I am usually accustomed to using windows Explorer, I would like to know if these actions can be done in the best conditions. Also I noticed on 2008 there is a feature of contacts. How can it be used? I would like to message or send an email to users their file locations. Also, I want to implement an admin at a lower level to handle the actions without making them far in on the server, not sure.

I read a certain bbut I don't like test direct more because it can cause problems. So basically a way short and neat to manage shares using the MMC, as well as the way that I approach their mail from the server of their actions. Maybe what kind of access cintrol or permissions are suitable also for documents. Also how can I have them use office templates without changing the format of the model.

  • Best practices for color use in Adobe CC?

    Hi all

Is there an article that describes the best practices for use of color in Adobe CC?

I produce a mixture of viewing online (PDF, for the most part) and real world print projects - often with the obligation for both. I recently updated my PANTONE + bridge books for the first time in ages and I am suddenly confused by the use of Lab colors in the Adobe Suite (Illustrator and InDesign).

Everything I found online, looks like Lab color mode preferred to use because it is device independent. And perceptual (on screen), it looks much closer to the color, it is trying to represent. But when I mark a Spot color Illustrator rectangle using laboratory coordinates, to the sides of a rectangle using PANTONE + bridge CP and then export it to PDF, the version of CP to mix CMYK color corresponds exactly to my Pantone book - while the version of laboratory (after converted to CMYK using the ink Manager) is far away.

I have this fantasy to manage only a single Illustrator or InDesign file for both worlds (PDF) printed and online. Is not possible in practice?

Any info describing the basic definitions of the color modes - or even a book tracing more than use them in the real world - would be much appreciated!

    Thank you

    Bob

Here are a few best practices you can already do.

1 make sure that your color settings are synchronized on all applications.

    2. use a CMYK profile appropriate for your print output. Lab spot colors convert to CMYK values based on the CMYK icc profile.

    3. include icc profiles when save or export pdf files

In theory, your imagination is possible today. It requires color management and the use of icc profiles. You can place RGB images in InDesign and use Pantone colors in your objects. The problem lies in the printers. If a printer uses a RIP with built in Pantone library, the colors will match when printing. Unfortunately, this kind of CUT is more expensive and not enough printers use them. Most of them is always manually approximate CMYK values composition given Pantone colors.

  • What is the best way or best practices for access to the session defined in servelt pipeline component?

    Hi Experts,

What is the best way or best practices for access to the session defined in servelt pipeline component?

    Please, share your ideas.

    Thank you

    ankV

As performance is concerned, a lot would depend on as to how your design & logic is implemented and you presented search operations to support the specific performance problems. In fact the operation itself can be not expensive than in-house it is somewhat like a search for key/value of the objects in session/application context name. But having said that, Yes, a potential performance problem could be because it's a synchronized operation. So to avoid searches to be performed during each request, caching the results of a search of a component. And in the majority of cases to solve a 'A' component within your component, you must configure a property reference 'A' in the file properties for your component.

  • AF best practices for video

I'm using an EOS 7 d for 1080 p HD video shooting. New to SLR camera and digital video. I have watched several tutorials but do not yet have a good understanding of what the best practices for the development.

If I put the camera in AI Servo it will auto focus if the subject is moving away or toward me with depress me back AF-ON or the shutter button? Or should I press one of these buttons to make the camera continues to focus?

You know tutorials or video lessons that cross using update with the video?

    Thanks in advance!

I don't know any tutorials, but more serious videographers say it is best to use only the manual focus.

Trial and error is a good teacher, when it comes to video DSLR. You'll quickly learn that video Auto Focus is really bad with the 7 d and most of the people do not use it all together.

The method that works for me is to use AF before the filming of the video and then adjust manually if you want to you to shoot the video. With the help of f/8 or f/11 to keep everything in short without having to keep the setting.

More recent Canon DSLR's like the T4i, T5i, 70 d and SL1 have a "hybrid AF" that does a much better job of AF during video, but it is not yet as good as a camcorder

    Clean install XP sites
You can choose which site to reinstall XP.

Once it is installed, then you do not have to connect what anyone, however, some updates may be required to perform the work, test this by installing work and see if you get an error msg. Except that you should be fine.
