  • "The administrator system has set policies to prevent this installation" error install Steam .msi program

Hi, I am trying to install the Steam (http://store.steampowered.com/about/) software, and I can't seem to. The steam program is an .msi file, and unlike the programs .exe, when I click right there is no option to 'run as administrator '.

According to the instructions I connected as the 'administrator' on my computer (it's one PC at home to the unique user ID is the ID of the admin), but every time I try to install it it stops with this message: "the system administrator has set policies to prevent this installation. I am running Vista.

I tried Googling this issue, there seems to be a common problem for some, however, it doesn't seem to be a single solution (which does not require a degree in rocket science). I'm quite honestly only a basic computer user (I say this so you don't expect me to know how to get into the registry or anything exotic like that), so if you could help with instructions on how to fix this it would be much appreciated.

By suggestion of Steam, I have updated my Microsoft Installer (4.5). This did not help.

    Thank you very much.

Ah, I did it - did not work. The error message is actually a bit of a herring - turns out he can appear for a variety of reasons.

Turns out that my gut wasn't about it being a registry problem... the MS Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable entries had broken somehow, preventing the installation of all instances of the same Windows install. Of course, most installers begin with MSVC Redist installation, that's why they were all fail. Fortunately, I didn't have to change the registry manually.

I found a program on the Microsoft Download Center for help. Don't remember that actually was called but it is mainly to fix broken installations of MS Office (when they go to halfway, so there are entries in the registry, but the installation has not actually finished... so that windows will not let you install or uninstall). There just uninstall things correctly and released their registry keys. I zapped the entrance MSVC 2005 that has been there all my installers started working again!

    Fantastic.

So yes, by sorry, that's probably all really confusing... was actually broken registry ultimately. Fixed by Googling for a few days. :)

  • No sound on Vista as administrator system

From what I've seen here, this problem has been going on for a few years now.

I did everything under the Sun and have still no system sounds and sounds no online who use Adobe Flash Player. The only thing I have not seen someone mentions is the fact that if you go into another user account that is defined as a Standard user sounds function very well.  Under the administrative user the system sounds and the sounds online will not work.

You can't test the system sounds in the sounds tab. You get no sounds. You can test your speakers in the Read tab and get the perfect sound.  You can also go to the Windows Media folder and test the system sounds from there and they work perfectly.

  • Administrator & system updates

I can't do updates to the window and who & where can I find my system administrator?

    Hi DonLee_61,

If you can not get an update for your current Windows, what you can do, is to use the Windows Update troubleshooting tool. You can do this by visiting this link.

For the system administrator, it's someone who can make changes on a computer that affects other users. Actually assign you as the system administrator by using the appropriate account type. To learn more, you can check this link.

Let us know if it helps.

If you find it useful, you can mark this as a response.

  • Administrator system with 50 + licensed individually machines... can I put?

I'm a system administrator with more than 50 machines, all licenses of Windows 7 OEM running.  I use WSUS to update my machines, so that they do not get the update through Windows Update notice, and in fact, I don't want my users to have this ability.  I'm not sure if Windows 10 will work in our environment.  I would like to download at least one license to test.  If it works, I would get the rest of them upgraded.  Since they are all OEMS, I guess I would have to download for each PC... is that correct or could I just download one and use it for all PCs in my shop?  Thank you.

Is the joined area not volume license Pro Windows clients receive the offer to upgrade?

The domain joined computers are not supported at the moment unfortunately. Your best option is to download the. ISO file and upgrade the computers manually or off line.

How computers joined to a domain that are not volume license customers will be able to control their systems and book the upgrade of Windows 10?

You will need to use evaluation tools of the company for all of the computers you have. The reservation application does not work in the complex IT environments.

Microsoft is likely to release a new version of its Microsoft Assessment and Planning Toolkit (MAP), which will support Windows 10. It can help you quickly COMPUTING environments small or large inventory without having to install any agent software in your environment.

Watch this blog updates when it will be available with support for Windows 10.

  • I can't use my USB because of administration system or blocking USB problem.

Because of my ignorance in the use of some security as USB security guard software and changes in my control panel, now I can't access my USB drive or any external memory device. When I put any external memory via USB device, it is noticed that my USB guard is locked and that the system cannot perform it.so contact your system administrator. But I uninstalled all my software security completely and checked my boot settings and the bios and the problem is still there. so I can't use my USB or external memory device via USB port in my laptop. I use the Windows 7 operating system. so please help me through your friendly consultation.

  • Administrator system role assignment

How do you give the Administrator role to a user of 11g R2

R2 mainly has the new feature called ROLE ADMIN who has the list of roles OOTB and you can assign to any user.

Click on organization-> research organization-> 'Top'-> open detail page go to the Admin role tab-> select role 'SYSTEM ADMINISTRATOR'-> click on the button "assign"-> the user to find now that you want to assign to the site-> click on the button 'Add'-> finally click ok.

Make sure that check the option 'including suborganization'. If the user keep on IOM together.

Why 'Top'-> because the Top is the parent of any organization. If you want the user to be administrator for particular org then you can choose that.

However, normal role can be assigned using the catalog
Search for and select user-> open-> tab "My Role" goto detail page-> click on "Demand accounts"-> now add the role of 'SYSTEM ADMINISTRATOR' catalog and finally to complete the request.

It seems that this error is due to a virus.  You should try to run a scan for viruses on your system.  You can try to start safe mode and run a scan with your antivirus.  If you do not have an antivirus program, then you can start using the safe mode with networking and try to run a free scan online here: http://onecare.live.com/site/en-us/default.htm

    Hello

Defender has a conflict with AVG

    read this:

If you use microsoft security essentials, AVG , norton, mcafee, avira etc they disable the vista version of windows defender by default

the basics of Microsoft security has its own version of windows defender

and other anti-virus programs use their own particular type of application to scan for spyware and malware

It of nothing to worry and is the default action, which is designed for them to do

to check the problems of malware:

Download update and scan with the free version of malwarebytes anti-malware

    http://www.Malwarebytes.org/MBAM.php

You can also download and run rkill to stop the process of problem before you download and scan with malwarebytes

    http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/anti-virus/rkill

If it does not remove the problem and or work correctly in normal mode do work above in safe mode with networking

    Windows Vista

    Using the F8 method:

    1. Restart your computer.
    2. When the computer starts, you will see your computer hardware are listed. When you see this information begins to tap theF8 key repeatedly until you are presented with theBoot Options Advanced Windows Vista.
    3. Select the Safe Mode with networking with the arrow keys.

    5. To start Windows, you'll be a typical logon screen. Connect to your computer and Vista goes into safe mode.
    6. Do whatever tasks you need and when you are done, reboot to return to normal mode.
