Administrator account not giving admin access

I need to change my Hosts file in system32, but my computer tells me that I need administrator privileges to modify this file. I'm on an admin account so what's the problem? Why my admin account doesn't have admin privileges? How can I fix it?

You need to be familiar with the concept of UAC in Windows 7. It prevents the unauthorized software to do things behind your back. Click on the globe to start, then help, then search for help on UAC.

To change the file, follow these steps:
1 log in under an administrator account.
2. click on the start planet.
3. type notepad.exe in the search box.
4. press on Ctrl + Shift + Enter
5. click on "run as Administrator".
6. open, edit and save the Hosts file.

Tried all the foregoing, including disabling UAC, before activation and connecting the built in Administrator account.  Even so, some programs told me I had no administrative privileges when I tride to execute.  After working in this market and for several days, I have concluded that the problem was related to virus/malware and, given that I could not all my programs/utilities AV running, except those located on bootable disks (none of which were of no help), I simply gave up and did a factory restore on the computer.  Unfortunately I could recover some of the files of the student.

  • The standard account users are able to access the files of in the administrator account.

Original title: help with the Standard of Windows 7 user account

I'm completely lost as to how I can possibly set it up on my computer. Here's the scenario, we don't have that one computer that all we share.

I use my computer for the working documents and other important files that I do not want others to have access to, my only siblings uses the computer to access the internet to check their emails, games, regular and other navigation.
I created an administrator account for me and a single standard user account to allow them their use, but not be able to make changes or install things without my consent. But the problem is that they are, log on with a standard user, they still manage to access the file on my "my documents" of the administrator account.
As I check, they were able to do by accessing the C:\ drive > users > My Name here > my documents.
I tried it myself using the standard account and I was able to make the changes/remove files store on my files of administrator account without even receive a warning or be asked an admin password.
Is it possible for me to avoid this? How can I prevent someone using a standard account to access files on my administrator account? Or better yet, can you please provide steps on how to do a standard user cannot account not able to access to the "Users" folder in the C:\ drive?
Is it also possible to have the only able to access their personal files user account?
    Any help is appreciated.

Here are the key to your problem:

    B. users (HomePC\Users) - check (Allow) "Read & Execute", "List folder and content," finally "to read"...
You must add your account name and give him full access, then remove the marks of graduation for "users".
Unwanted permissions have been applied probably because you activated the group home environment and shared your own folders. There is a network issue, not a safety issue. I know little about this feature of Windows 7 and recommend that you ask the networking experts for advice in this forum.
  • Enable SSH access to administrative accounts non-standard

    Hi all

According to the administration of VCS Guide (p 298, x8.5.1), he suggests that "in general, local administrator accounts are used to access the VCS on its web interface or the interface API, but are not allowed to access the CLI".

Well, I would like to make an exception then, how do I do this. The sentence that precedes suggests that exceptions are possible, but I can't find additional references.

We looked at the ' / etc/ssh/sshd_config ', but of course, it is a read-only file structure.

    Any ideas?

    See you soon

    Chris

I don't think it's possible, outside the admin account to access the CLI.  I know that the sentence says "In general", but to me, it reads as if all CLI access is reserved to all except the admin account.

    Hello

Using the hidden administrator account (or any Admin) will allow you to access all the files on the computer.

You can try to fix it with Safe Mode - repeatedly press F8 as you bootup.

Some programs such as the Google Updater (if you added the toolbar Google, Chrome or Google Earth) has been
    known to cause this problem.

  • Created 2 standard user accounts and now the admin account is inaccessible. How to access my administrator account?

I have Vista Edition Home Premium.  I got the account administrator and only called 'everyday', which were both available on the Welcome screen.  I was usually you log in to the admin account for my daily use of the computer, but realized that it was a bad idea.  I created a new account, he made an admin account and called "administration".  I changed then the administrator account, I had used so far for a standard account and named it 'everyday', which makes the account would connect you to our daily use.  Finally, I created a new standard account called 'secondary' for my husband to use.

Now, when I turn on the computer, only accounts that I am able to connect in the Welcome screen are 'everyday' and 'secondary '.  I tried to find articles that would already be answering my question, but good solutions I've seen do not work or are not completely suitable for my situation.  I know the administrator account exists, I don't know how to connect to it.  How can I access my administrator account now?  Things like system restore and cmd / 'run as administrator' failure because I don't have privileges admin so I can't even begin to perform these tasks.

    Any help is appreciated!

  • Can not save anything - access denied-, but using account Admin

I have Windows 7 and whenever I try and save something in my user folder, it says access denied because I'm not an Admin - but I am - and it then asks me to save it in the folder of the previous user that has some sort of lock on him, so I can't delete it. There is only 1 account (mine), but it still won't let me save files anywhere, but the locked admin folder. How to remove or unlock it? I'm minutes to throw my screen by the window. I tried prntscrn'ing the problem, but it wouldn't let me save the MS paint doc!

Your very first step with a used computer is to do a clean install of Windows. Not sure what problems you inherited from the original owner. If you don't want to not do it (not recommended), and then as new accounts work very well do yourself a new Standard for the daily user and keep one new account administrator for your account 'CompAdmin' as described in the above recommended. Copy the data from your old account to your new account Standard user and then delete the old user account. MS - MVP - Elephant Boy computers - don't panic!
