  You can change your password to something that you remember another administrative user account. If you had only an administrative user account and you have forgotten the password, all is not lost.   General recommendations for creating users in Vista:

  You absolutely don't want to have only one user account. As XP and all the other modern operating systems, Vista is a multi-user system with integrated system of accounts as default Administrator and comments. These accounts should be left alone because they are part of the structure of the operating system.

  In particular, you do not want one account user with administrative privileges on Vista because the administrator account integrated (normally only used in emergencies) is disabled by default. If you use as an administrator for your daily work, and this account is corrupt, things will be difficult.  It is not impossible to activate the built-in administrator to rescue things, but there may be more that you want to do.   Start Orb > Search box > type: netplwiz [Enter]
  Click continue (or provide an administrator password) when you are prompted by UAC

  Uncheck "users must enter a user name and password to use this computer". Select a user account to connect automatically by clicking on the account you want to highlight and press OK. Enter the password for this user account (when it exists) when you are prompted. Leave blank if there is no password (null). MS - MVP - Elephant Boy computers - don't panic!

• How can I make Firefox the default browser in a non-administrative account in Windows XP, where clicking to do has no effect?

  You have to understand one thing. Even if you are the administrator of most of the measures you take is the normal user (you are the administrator and normal user with this single account). And most of the measures do not need administrator right. If they need that for the most part, you are prompted to give permission to the administrator (especially if you have UAC - active user account control).

  There are two ways how to provide administrator privileges to run something:

  • The dialog box appeared to provide right administrator and there the continue button, or field to provide a password (your password).
  • You may need to run something as an administrator, you need to click with the right button on the FILE (on your desktop, in the Start Menu, in Windows Explorer) that is to run your game and choose Run as administrator explicitly (on the picture you have an example how to run Adobe Reader as administrator.)   Comment of "No Mo" is grammatically correct, it won't you anywhere with your current problem or the other. Maybe one of these options will solve your problem:

  • Restart the computer with your CD to repair Windows, then use system restore to set Windows in a few days (only works if the problem occurred recently).
  • Logging in as a different admin account and then reset the password for your existing account (works only if create you an alternative admin account).
  • Log in as administrator mode without failure, then reset the password for your existing account (works only if you have activated the account administrator and know its password).
  • Insert your flash drive USB with the password key file (only works if you have created such a keyfile).

  If none of these standard precautions work for you, then the remedy will be painful. Post again if this is the case.
