Administrator locked hard disk, disk Local (c) asccessing (D :) & (E :)

I was trying to set up a user account for some teenagers and security settings changed for the above partitions. I can access is no longer information stored in each partition. I have the following message. "Cannot open access control ediitor. Access is denied. "

Initially I clicked on "My Computer", the logos of individual training a right click and then click on "Properties" then the security"" tab. Before information is gone so I can't reset the original settings. Do not enter information at the time, but there were 2 columns. According to me, they say 'allow' and the other 'ban '. Three or four accounts were above the column allow/deny.

The next time I let you alone that things worked very well. Operating system is Windows 7 Home Premium

Without success so restored Factoy Image (Vista) PC using HP recovery disks. RELOADED Windows 7 and everything works well. Lessons learned: not to venture into unknown waters without knowing what you are doing and always and I mean ALWAYS up everything in a timely.

Thank you for you time and patience.

  • Files missing after moving iMovie events from local disk to external HARD disk. Are they lost?

    Hi all

Tonight, I tried to clear up little space on my local HARD drive and wanted to spend my events/projects of the iMovie local library to an external HARD disk, which I connected via firewire 800.

I opened iMovie (v10.1 - current version with all updates installed). I clicked on an event to highlight and then the FILE--> COPY OF LIBRARY of selected EVENTS.

There, I sailed on the external drive and created an iMovie new library called ReWatch2015. I copied successfully eight different events, including files from my external hard drive.

The ultimate goal is to get rid of them on the HARD drive internal, I highlighted the 20 remaining events I wanted to move and then used the FILE--> MOVE of EVENTS at the LIBRARY and specified ReGen_2015.

It seemed at first glance to move. In fact, he seemed to move too darn fast in my opinion. When I looked at home in the library of the external drive, they were nothing more than a string of question marks, with a message telling me that particular item is not found and re-import the original clips. It's impossible because I have not kept the original source material on my internal drive. I had asked before if they are preserved in the library of iMovie and told me Yes, so I that's why I deleted the original source material.

Don't see no activity on the disks, I did the cmd - Z to go back. Events have now shown upward into the iMovie library internal. HOWEVER, they still have the question mark, with msg on reimport. What is scary, is that if I go to ALL projects of them have visible thumbnails. Yet, when I click on any of these thumbnails to load the project into the editor, I am back to the page of question mark again.

Are the file on drive HARD internal, and they just disassociated projects, or two-thirds of my library of events of 2015 are now toast? I was not under any type of backup Time Machine to be able to recover them, and frankly, if they left, it is not the end of the world since I was of the .mp4 displayed on Vimeo. But, I would just assume the iMovie library intact if possible.

Suggestions on how to recover are greatly appreciated!

    Robert

    Hi Robert

Am having exactly the same problem on a new iMac 2016 running El Capitan: when I want to MOVE events such as you describe it, they sometimes get lost in the original library, both in the target library. Like you, I noticed that a such attempt to move just a very short time even if several GB of data play a role. Sometimes however, iMovie is able to move successfully. I my case, I had to re - import events so lost since an additional backup, I got on another external drive that I couldn't find the clips 'lost' on the HARD drive more. Very scary!

I think it's an iMovie/El Capitan question which could be corrected with future updates. The only solution I've found is to the events of the FIRST COPY, and then check if the target is really OK and only then select the MOVE option, which will remove the original library to free up space. In addition, I plan to copy on a regular basis my library full iMovie on an extra disk to backup using the finder.

Did you find anything in the meantime?

  • Volume D: is dirty. Check Disk Local Disk d does not solve the problem

Whenever I start my computer under WindowsXP SP3, chkdsk runs indicating that the D: Volume is dirty.  He noted no other problems.  I tried to run check disk Local Disk d with two checked options, but it does not solve the probem.  What should I try next?

    That is right.

First of all, let us look at the ideas of the Microsoft support engineer:

I would never not follow the suggestion of Microsoft Engineer in method 1.  This idea makes no sense.

The Microsoft Support Engineer method 2 does not work for you (or most people), unless you have a XP installation CD bootable authentic with the same Service Pack as your installation.  In your case, you would need a true bootable XP with SP3 installation CD and most of the people do not have such an animal.  It is therefore extremely unlikely that will help you at all - and if your file system is damaged or dirty, I of course never suggests that in the first place until your file system is straightened.

Volumes that contain file system errors is known as "Sales". When a volume is dirty, he has known file system errors, and you must run chkdsk on the volume to repair the problem.

When XP starts, it automatically checks the on each volume's dirty bit (C, D, E, etc.), and if any volume is dirty, XP will automatically run chkdsk/p on next reboot on the volumes in an attempt to clear the dirty bit.  Which does not clear the bit of impurity or it may take several passes.

If the volume dirty bit, one is set, this indicates that the file system may be in an inconsistent state. The dirty bit can be set because the volume is online and has some remarkable changes, because changes have been made to the volume and the computer shutdown until the changes have been committed to disk, or because corruption has been detected on the volume. If the dirty bit is set when the computer restarts, chkdsk runs to verify the consistency of the volume.

Whenever you start a computer that is running one of the Windows XP operating system or the Windows Server 2003 family, autochk.exe is called by the kernel for all volumes to check if the volume dirty bit is set. If the dirty bit is set, autochk performs an immediate chkdsk /f on that volume. Chkdsk /f verifies file system integrity and attempts to fix any problems with the volume.

A simple power interruption is something that could result in a disc was marked as dirty.  Have you had a power failure these days?

You can query the dirty bit on a volume from the command prompt window.  Here's how:

Click Start, run and enter in the box:

    cmd

Click OK to open the command prompt window.

For example, to query the bit of impurity on drive D, type:

    fsutil dirty query D:

    The sample output:
    Volume D: is dirty
    Volume D: is not dirty

Type "exit" to close the command prompt window.

You can not enter any command to clear the dirty bit - only chkdsk /r or chkdsk/p can clear the dirty bit.

When chkdsk runs automatically restart either because XP thinks he needs to (perhaps your NTFS volume has been marked as dirty) or you decide to schedule the chkdsk with error correction during the next reboot, the results appear in the viewing Application event log.  You should look there for the chkdsk log to see what happened and no problems after running chkdsk.

To view the logs in Event Viewer, click Start, settings, Control Panel, administrative tools, event viewer.

A shortcut to the event viewer is to click on start, run and enter in the box:

    %SystemRoot%\system32\eventvwr.msc

Click OK to launch the event viewer.

Search the Application log for an event originally by Winlogon, something like:

    Event type: Information
    Event source: Winlogon
    Event category: no
    Event ID: 1001
    Date: 04/08/2010
    Time: 11:25:57

The dirty bit fade not until chkdsk /r (or chkdsk/p) tracks clean when the system reboots (as in the example) or when you run chkdsk /r from the XP Recovery Console.

Many times, the best remedy is to just run chkdsk /r from the XP Recovery Console so you can actually see what it does.  Sometimes, this also seems to be the only way to clear the dirty bit and this way you can see what he does.

Note that you can not also question the bit of impurity of the Recovery Console and you can't turn off the bit of impurity to enter any command.

If for some reason chkdsk will not erase the dirty, you can simply say XP never check the volume dirty bit, but who will not fix your fault of potentially hard drive, or it could be the drive just need to have chkdsk run on that (sometimes you need to run it more than once) or you will have to think about replacing the drive.

If you have a genuine XP bootable installation CD, you can boot into XP from that (even a SP2) Recovery Console CD will work and run chkdsk /r manually from there and repeat until chkdsk /r is clean.

If you have a genuine XP bootable installation CD, say so and I'll post instructions so you can make a CD of XP Recovery Console and how to run chkdsk from there.   There is no required XP media.

I wonder why it is that I have never see an engineer Microsoft Support post instructions on how to make a bootable CD of XP (no XP media required) Recovery Console... probably because there is no KB article for them to post.

  • Question about upgrading windows and replacement of hard disk

I originally had windows 7 premium 64 bit and later upgraded using a product key anytime upgrade to windows 7 Professional.  I still have the two product keys for the premium and professional.

I want to replace my hard drive and upgrade to windows 10.

    What I asked:

I have upgraded to windows 10 first and somehow make a boot disk, replace my hard drive, and then use the disk on the new hard disk?

Can I get a disk to boot windows professional 7 some hand and use it on the new hard drive and then use the tool of a free upgrade?

Any suggestion would be great.  Thank you

You must first reinstall Windows 7 Home Premium, reactivate and then rerun the upgrade to Windows 7 Professional can make sure that it is turned on.

After which, you can download and install the free update for Windows 10.

Another option you have is to create an image of your current installation of Windows 7 Professional system and restore it on the new hard drive.

How to pass Windows 7 to a bigger hard drive - Notebooks.com

After the restoration of the image and adjust the layout of the partition, make sure that Windows is activated, then check Windows Update for the upgrade of Windows 10 or download manually:

    Retry the upgrade manually:

    Option 1:

    Download the media creation tool

Click with the right button on the MediaCreationTool.exe file and then click on run as administrator.

    then

    then

    • Turn off (preferably uninstall) your Antivirus utility before you perform the upgrade.
    • Reboot several times, and then try again.
    • Disable the general USB peripherals (for example - smart card reader).
    • If you are using a SCSI drive, make sure you have the drivers available for your storage on a thumdrive device and it is connected. During the installation of Windows 10, click on the advanced custom Option and use the command load driver to load the driver for the SCSI drive. If this does not work and the installer still fails, consider switching to an IDE based hard drive.
    • Perform a clean boot, restart, and then try again.
    • If you upgrade to the. ISO file, disconnect from the Internet during the installation, if you are connected in LAN (Ethernet) or wireless, disable both, then try to install.

If you want to lock hard drives to access through a standard or a guest account, you can do this by logging into the administrator account and perform the following steps.

    a. open the "computer" folder, and then click the drive that you want to restrict access.
    b. Select Properties
    c. in the properties box, go to the Security tab.
    d. you will see a list of users and groups that can access this drive.
    e. edit this list and take out everything except:

  • Satellite L450 - how do you start the recovery from the HARD disk?

    Hello world

I just joined the forum and already I need help.

I have 2 questions (10) I'm an ODP, and I volunteer for a local blind group who all have laptops and rewrite the textbooks in braille users. Now a desire to know how start recovery from the HARD disk drive and what you should do disks for this.

and (2) another received a laptop computer Toshiba A 100 and it does not start as soon as the Toshiba screen appears it lacks a password, we tried all kinds of passwords, tails of start and a new record of program but it does not start. Can anyone help please.

    Ken

For instructions how to recover a Toshiba laptop with verification of HARD drive recovery procedure please this document > http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/HTD9102IR0000R01.htm

The Satellite A100, I presume that you need BIOS password. Unfortunately, there is nothing you can do about it. Accredited maintainer Toshiba can remove the password for you.

  • Tecra 8000: Question on the HARD disk and the password

    Hi all
A market recently my son bought an old laptop Toshiba T8000.

Personally, I have absolutely no knowledge of the laptop myself as a desktop is everything I've ever used.
However, I recharged the battery and the power, it asks for a password, even if what I believe to be the HD is missing (Vacant housing, left under the keyboard and behind the battery)

Our local store offers him an incredible £121 a new HD

HA wasted his pocket money on it or can he get a password and the HD at reasonable price to fit?

    Any help is greatly welcomed.

    BREZ.

    Hello

Especially the password appears at the beginning of the startup procedure because the BIOS password has been set.
Unfortunately, you cannot delete or remove the BIOS password if the old password of BIOS is not known to you. Either contact you the person who sells you the device and ask for the password or you will contact the service partner in your country for a deletion.

    I guess that's a Tecra 8000 with the number PAT80XE.
This unit is a little older and so I think that hard drives are rare, a little so more expensive.
By the way: the device supports an EIDE HARD disk interface

  • Re: Satellite Pro L - Eventviewer displays HARD disk controller error

I've had problems for at least two months, with slowing down, freezing same blueys etc. and eventviewer tells me that I have a HARD disk controller error. Now when I check the device it tells me - as do the dealers - work correctly, but after a chkdsk problem erases only coming later. My Toshiba characteristic of diagnosis does not work so I can't check without the use of a third-party application which I am very reluctant to do.

I am now lost for what to do given my position of dealers who fell to something I've done / downloaded etc. All the world has any ideas on how I can get my diag back function or other than eventviewer / chkdsk to identify what's wrong?

The machine is only 10 months with 500HDD core i5, 4 GB of RAM under Windows 7 Professional and Kasersky Pure as my ISS. I use it for general use at home and the little that is worrrying me is that even though my previous Toshiba had a HARD drive crash and had to be replaced - I might have to do a factory default or worse go format and just load a new OS on or get the drive HARD replaced at my expense ($450 last time). The drive is a Toshiba MK5055GSX and looking around locally can not see where we could be contained--if I have to.

It has become a nightmare, and even if I took an additional guarantee that feeling of time will run out before that I get something on this subject.
Any help would be so appreciated.

    Hi johndragon46,

I put t know what laptop you have exactly, but the fact is if the Eventviewer indicates an error of HARD disk controller it can be both: HARD drive itself or HDD motherboard controller.

You wrote that your laptop is only 10 months old then why n t contact you authorized service provider? Your laptop should still be under warranty and that means an ASP can fix your computer laptop free time guaranteed.

By the way: list of authorized service providers, you can find on the official website of Toshiba

    Good luck! :)

  • Cannot access the HARD disk drive HARD - Satellite P300 recovery

    Hi all

I want to perform a Toshiba product recovery, using the partition on the HARD disk. I did it before and no problem.

But when I press F8--> computer repair--> selection language--> then I have to select a user (Administrator / my name/guest) when I select the administrator, it says that my account has been disabled, when I select the user with my name (Kenneth) he continues to the menu where I can choose the different options for recovery. If I select the product Toshiba blah blah thingy a screen comes up saying it can't find 01 HARD drive. I did nothing with the partition containing Vista.

My guess is that I need to log in as an administrator, which is impossible. My user account in Vista is a Director,

    Hi watthhel,

I think the error message must be correct to Windows 7 and you must do what tells you the message: immediately back up your data and replace the HARD drive with a new one. In your case I would never save important files on the HARD drive. Too risky to lose important files

Your laptop is 4 months old and that would mean it s covered by the warranty. Contact your local authorized service provider and ask for a replacement drive. They will exchange it and the service is free. :)
