• ExtendScript Toolkit is identical to native InDesign dialog boxes?

  Please excuse the absolute level novice question, but I didn't know where to go. The Options of UI Scripting under Featured Content (http://forums.adobe.com/docs/DOC-1025) refers to native InDesign dialogs, which are described as easier to create. As a result, I thought it would be the best UI for a beginner. However, I can't find anything with that name ID 5. Is it the same thing as the ExtendScript Toolkit, or it refers to something else? Also, can I use JavaScript in InDesign native dialogues/ExtendScript Toolkit or only AppleScript? Since JavaScript seems more versatile, I prefer to start with this.

  The ExtendScript Toolkit is a programming environment, i.e. an application to write and debug scripts in, that's all (it is for JavaScript only). You can use different applications, notebook, because the JavaScript scripts are plain text files. The Toolbox JUST makes life a little easier (in the versions other than CS4 InDesign).

  The native InDesign dialogues are part of the InDesign object model, they can be used only in the InDesign scripting. Script UI dialog boxes can be used in other CS applications as well. I do not accept that the native InDesign dialogs are easier to implement than ScriptUI ones. I was happy when ScriptUI came and I could let the native dialog boxes. ScriptUI is much more versatile than the InDesign dialogs. Another advantage of ScriptUI is that there is good support for it in this forum, with dialogue of InDesign, you're pretty much on your own. ScriptUI can be used with JavaScript. See http://tinyurl.com/25thymh for an introduction (which assumes knowledge of JavaScript).

• Acrobat 9 pdf links not working not not for InDesign CS3. What's wrong?

  My links work in my 40-page Indesign CS3 using Mac folder. Once I converted to a .pdf file, some of the links aren't in the right place. They have to be duplicated other links, or trying to take me hard my office or network. Cannot know what the problem is.

• Adobe AIR iOS app is not running in the background

  I have an iOS with Adobe AIR application. It does not in the background even if I did the following things that I can think of,

  1 NativeApplication.nativeApplication.executeInBackground = true;

  Whenever I pass the app at bottom, no matter how short time, it always starts at the beginning when put in the back. The only exception is when I take a phone call, in which case it seems to continue where it left off. Is someone can you please tell me what is happening? Is there still hope for me? Thanks to a bouquet.

  BTW, the same app packaged for Android has no problem running in the background, and I didn't do anything to turn it on.

  I forgot to update here once I found the problem.

  There's a UIApplicationExitsOnSuspend key that was for some reason the true value in my application.xml file.

  If you update Acrobat 9 by manually downloading patches, you will need to follow the sequence below:

• ExtendScript Toolkit running command-line - approved place message

  I run the following in a command line of Windows 7:

  "C:\Program Files (x 86) \Adobe\Adobe ExtendScript Toolkit CC\ExtendScript Toolkit.exe"-run "C:\Users\john\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\InDesign\Version 11.0\en_US\Scripts\Scripts Panel\example.jsx".

  However, I get the message "you are about to run a script in Adobe InDesign CC 2015. You should only run scripts from a reliable source. "You want to run the script", with Yes/No options.

  I was wondering if there is a way to remove this message from appearing. According to Indesign Java Script running error, this message is deleted if the jsx script is located in a trusted location. I thought that C:\Users\john\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\InDesign\Version 11.0\en_US\Scripts\Scripts Panel is a trusted location.

  In my documents

  Folder.myDocuments; ~/Documents?

  Do Folder.myDocuments.execute ();

  Should see a folder called it Adobe Scripts.

  If it not is not, create it.

  In the Adobe ExtendScript Toolkit CS4 application, I don't get the "InDesign CS4" in the drop-down list.

  What would cause this? I tried with reinstallling InDesign CS4.

  It is a well known bug in CS4 that you can't do anything about. But if you run this line:

  indesign #target;

  InDesign reappears in the drop-down list.

• InDesign CS3 is in conflict with CS2 Web on the same PC

  Hi, I use CS2 Web on my PC under Windows XP2, and I installed InDesign CS3 on the same computer. The installation went well. The software works well. The problem is that I received an InDesign file to a co-worker who is also running InDesign CS3, but I can't open the file. I get an error of my InDesign message telling me that it cannot open the file because I need to upgrade my version of the software (upgrade check tells me that there are no other updates available for my InDesign). In the HELP menu I check the version and I'm under InDesign 3.0.1. The packaging clearly says CS3 on it. But he insists on acting as if InDesign was only CS2 as the Web Suite that I have on the same PC (but I'm not runing this software at the same time as InDesign) and does not open the files of other users of InDesign CS3 in my office.

  All the files I created with my InDesign and sends to a work colleague appear to them as if they were introduced in CS2.

  This conflict is avoidable somehow? Or is the software designed to not be compatible with Adobe software to other versions on the same PC?

  What I wanted to say is: you have CS 3.0.1 and CS3 (5.0?) installed at the same time, but you double click on the new file and seeks to open it in CS 3.0.1.

  You cannot use 'all', you must use the name that was used when the path was made. You can find the names by getting "the photoshop clipping paths" of an image.

  I am running CS4 on Windows XP and try to look at certain information helps extendscript Toolkit to help with problems of script in ID, but for some reason any Toolbox will not load. I've tried right-clicking on a script ID, and then selecting Edit script. I tried to run in the start menu, and the results are the same: sometimes I get a brief hourglass (or not) and then nothing.   You will have to perhaps press these keys while starting... and that is hardly possible when the program stops to quickly. I recognize the error you have, but don't remember exactly how I fixed it. There are probably a few preferences to disk files (if they are the problem), which can be renamed in order to let new be generated. This has been the case with the main application.

  Look for the InDesign (Help menu) updates, so you are sure to have the latest.

  Also try resetting the InDesign preferences (the main application) by pressing Shift + Ctrl + Alt keys to starting it. If there is no difference, you could have a look (v. google) for reset/trashing preferences at hand for the ESTK.

  A last resort would be to reinstall.

  Yes, you reason as acrobat 4 is not compatible with Windows 7.

  Acrobat 4 is a very old version and Adobe no longer provide support for this version.

  I suggest you buy the Acrobat DC subscription or license.
