  Hello rebeccajw, open the XI player, go in Edition > Preferences > Updater and select something else that "automatically install updates." You will probably need to download and apply the patches manually to keep XI. The last non - MUI for Windows patch is Adobe - Adobe Reader: for Windows: Adobe Reader 11.0.13 - all languages updated.

  As Adobe reader has tried several times to install the 11.0.06 version and failed (think I already had the 11.0.07 version, not sure), I completely uninstalled and installed a clean last version (11.0.09). Now, I continue to receive notifications (Adobe Reader Updater window opens) updates to version 11.0.06! Is this possible to cleanup my setup as I only receive legitimate (new versions) update notifications and stops receiving 11.0.06 "updates"?

  I have the users configured as standard users to prevent them from installing unapproved software.

  This causes problems with products such as java and adobe reader running automatic updates.  We then get cranky users because they are prompted to install the update and approval from the administrator.

  Is it possible with group policy to allow pre-approved software to install as update of adobe reader?

  Something you your registry database points to the H: drive and the installation/upgrade program has a problem with that.

• Adobe Reader update scheduled task? Is this Normal?

  Hello, I started my computer today and as I usually do, I checked my startup items. Adobe Reader and Acrobat Update Manager has been removed from the list. I was confused and after the reboot to see if that fixes it, checked again. Went again. The research, apparently a "Adobe Refresh Manager" with the number of version 1.8.0 has been installed or something. Or at least configured. Check with CCleaner, I looked up from the Startup tab... the Windows tab remained empty from the entrance of Adobe. However check the section of the scheduled task, I found an entry for the update here for some reason any.

  Is this a new feature? Did update the Updater itself and grown from a startup to a scheduled task item? I'm a little worried that something is wrong with my computer. For the record, my Adobe Acrobat had already updated December 9 11.0.10.
  Is this normal now?

  Yes, Acrobat and Reader Updater automatically updates itself with the latest version. There is nothing to worry about. Moving to the Scheduler of tasks done checks more predictable updates. Remove the Run key launch improves the system startup. You can probably find other updaters as well in the Task Scheduler, such as Google, Windows itself, Adobe Flash, etc...

• Adobe Reader XI update failed.  How to fix?

  When my 64-bit machine of windows 7 has been updated to adobe reader XI, the update function began to fail continuously.  I get the following message is displayed "Adobe Reader Updater":

  Annoyingly, this message appears when adobe tries to automatically check for updates.  I also get this message every time I check the updates manually.  I tried to 'check for updates later' a million times without success.  I also uninstalled and reinstalled drive a million times.  I also uninstalled, used the removal tool from adobe reader for the removal of old versions and reinstalled a million times.  I also tried to reinstall the older versions.  However, if I use the XI version or an earlier version of the player, I always get the above message when I ask for an update.  Help, please!

  Reader XI is not supported under Vista; the latest version of reader for Vista is 10.1.14.
