  Adobe change Acrobat a lot between releases. Make sure you follow instructions to the same version you have.

  What do you mean when you say that Acrobat Pro XI has stopped working? What happens when you try to run it?

  A workaround would be to upgrade to XI player for now. I agree this is a major issue and hope Adobe will solve it soon.

  I use Adobe Acrobat Pro 10.0.0 and Adobe Reader 11.0.07 for some time now, but never stopped updating because they have begun to develop strange problems.

  Everytime I open all PDFs, the page is jerky or broken (I don't know how to describe it). The display of page breaks. The menu bar disappears. Also, the title bar disappears.   A PDF with InDesign is just one PDF file like any other. If Acrobat can open it. Almost no circumstance you would change it in Acrobat.

  Here's why. Editing PDF files is a last desperate resort. Sometimes easy/practice, often disappointing, frustrating, if not impossible. You modify a PDF file when life depends on it, the original has been lost, and all backups have been eaten by termites. If you do not edit an InDesign PDF in Acrobat. Nor of course in InDesign. What you do is change the original InDesign file and make a new PDF. Even to fix typo.

  You can activate certain player features, such as the signature and recording, allowing the reader to the document in Acrobat. Exactly how do you this depends on which version of Acrobat you are using:

  A9: Advanced > extend features in Adobe Reader

  A10: File > save as > Reader Extended PDF > activate additional features

  A11: File > save as other > Reader Extended PDF > activate tools plus (includes filling form & save)

  I tried the upgrade to Adobe Acrobat Reader XI (AARXI) or the trial version of Adobe Acrobat Pro XI (AAPXI) and get the same debugging message "attempt to access invalid address."

  I UNINSTALLED AA9P and THEN restarted. I then tried to install AAPXI = even debug message. No error was present during the installation and I also checked the MD5 signature on the download, I get a full set of install package

  I then UNINSTALLED AAP XI, then restarted.

  I INSTALLED AAPRXI and received no error during installation. Yet once, all facilities are caused under an ADMINISTRATOR account with all security software disabled. Tried to open AAPRXI and get the same debugging message.

  My OS has every available patch installed for Microsoft and third party.

  Any suggestions on how to correct this installation?

  I fell right on this issue when I disabled it EMITS to perform debugging things. Taken a few troubleshooting to understand.

  Aparently, if you have installed anytime EMET, that adobe is installed, the drive does not start unless the EMET options are enabled for AcroRd32.exe. So either you set EMITS the parameters of maximum security (you can do unless you're a programmer or tester pen) or EMET set all options for at least asking Opt In and configure Apps so the EMET options are enabled for AcroRd32.exe.

  Or... Uninstall EMET, but then your box will get jump overnight 0, so don't do that.

  Please try to remove Adobe Acrobat Pro XI using cleanup tool Download Adobe Reader and Acrobat cleaning - Adobe Labs tool , and then restart your system.

  Then re-install the application from this link: download Pro or Standard versions of Acrobat DC, XI or X

  I moved your question to one of the Acrobat forums, where it is more appropriate.

  Go to Edit - Preferences - Page display in both applications and compare the settings. If it works well in the drive then set Acrobat to be the same as those of the reader.

  Acrobat Reader DC is not an update to Acrobat Pro. It is a different application, with less features (since it's free).

  You need really not drive if you have Acrobat. You can remove and re - associate PDF files on your system with Acrobat.
