  The title pretty much says all of this, I tried to search if this has been discussed before but no could not find anything.

  I'm on the latest version after effects CC, 13.8.1.38.

  This ONLY happens when the composition I work has enough layers to display the vertical scroll bar (which means that the number of layers exceed the size of the size of screen/composition). If I click Hide/Show or lock/unlock on any layer, it automatically increases its content makes life very irritating because I have to close it manually each time. If I increase the size of the composition window Panel so that all layers are visible (i.e. no vertical scroll bar) so it no longer occurs. So the key to triggering it is to ensure there are more layers than your screen has space to show in this Panel.

  I've looked everywhere in the settings and couldn't find something to turn it off. I know that the fastest solution is to keep the composition and store the number of layer, but it is not always possible for me that I must continue to work with items broken down in the same composition. My workflow would be more complicated if I continued to switch between the tabs before publication.

  All solutions would be highly appreciated I just can't work with this 'feature' useless. Thanks in advance!

  Hi, I'm going to try explain your problem.

  In your posted example we see that you have three layers in the layers panel.

  On each layer, we can see, on the left side, there is the thumbnail of the layer, it is a display of the actual image of your layer, then a thumbnail of the layer mask (the white rectangle on the right side).

  A layer mask works as follows: you tell Photoshop to show or hide the actual parts (pixels) of the layer with the grayscale values. Indicates a white pixel on the layer masks Photoshop to display the area of the image with a (non-transparent) full opacity, while tells a black pixel on the Photoshop layer mask to hide the layer completely (0% opacity.) Gray values will therefore partially show the image data.

  But you paint on the document, and you must specify Photoshop if you want to paint on the image (what you did in your example, and you don't want to) or if you want to paint on the layer mask (what you want to do). This indication is called targeting. It is simply done by clicking on the thumbnail of the layer or the layer of your layer mask thumbnail.   This may sound silly but... using ch & AE CC 2015, is it possible to import Photoshop layers with their respective in After Effects layer mask so that we can still change the mask layer in AE?

  What I have is PS layer mask is applied to the layer AE but I can't find a way to change this layer in AE mask.

  I have a PS file with lots of layer masks I want to animate (the position & scale of the masks themselves) in AE.

  It is not possible. The masks themselves must be converted into actual layers using for example a selection. They can be used as mattes in AE and animated in any way you want.

• Door after the effects of mask

  I opened a door, and inside I want to put an image. When opening the door, I want the image inside the show that I open the door. But I can't understand the layers in After Effects and masking. Cannot find any tutorials that will fit on Youtube. I want the mask to follow the edge of the door, so the image inside reveals slowly. But I don't know how to set the mask. No matter how I do it, the mask turns out to be black. I started to do this in FCPX. The image inside is keyed (blue screen), so there is only one tiny inside. I have now two clips. One where I opened the door without someone inside and the same clip with the person inside.

  Can someone help me?

  If you don't get things like layers and masking, it is a great place to start. It covers you many things you have probably not yet realized what will make your life AE a lot better in addition to get you the essential info you need work as how to animate masks.

• Is there an equivalent for Photoshop adjustment layer masks After Effects?

  I have a clip showing the clouds in a blue sky and the Valley in the bluish shade, and I want to darken the blues of the sky without affecting the Valley. Effects such as Hue/Saturation or curves produce good results on the sky, but apply to the entire composition.

  In Photoshop I would just do something like painting a gradient on the adjustment layer mask, but I don't see an equivalent in after effects CC2015.2 and wonder if I forgot something. Pointers?

  Mast track controls are in the Modes Panel. The second icon in the lower left corner of the timeline will reveal the switches and modes column in the timeline panel, or you can press F4 to switch between them. If the second icon is not selected, then you should also see a switch at the bottom of the column switches switches/Modes.

  I'm working on a project that has a lot of masks and shape layers to frame masks in After Effects CS4. For example the timeline that I am focusing is 3 seconds long; There is 2 keyframes in the shape layer (vertical rectangle), key frames are 3 seconds gap and are at the same position (511.1,89.5). If I go to the beginning of the seconds 3 press the space bar and let him play for some reason any moves the rectangle from left to right.   As keyboard shortcuts you go to hold down the option/alt key and the keyboard shortcut ' Show/Hide properties ' to switch between adding and removing keyframes.  Adobe does not have the freedom to document them all in their page keyboard shortcuts, so here goes:

  Option + P: Position keyframe

  Option + R: Rotation keyframe (adds the keyframe at all values of rotation and orientation if the layer is 3D)

  Option + S: Scale keyframe

  Option + A: keyframe Anchor Point

  Option-T: Opacity keyframe (adding a keyframe of intensity if the layer is a 3D light)

  Option + M: Keyframe mask path

  Option + F: Mask Feather keyframe

  Option + L: Levels Audio keyframe

  * This does that for the single letter shortcuts - double letters do not work (i.e. TT for the opacity of the mask, RR for the time remapping, etc.).

  * Option + shift + the letter will work too which is good if you have reconfigured the Option + letter for other things such as throwing scripts - that I have.

  On the "boomerang" effect, I highly recommend you go to your preferences > "Général" tab and turn on 'by default spatial interpolation to linear', then you can manually add the Bezier handles to your keyframes in the composition Viewer if need be.

• Replace the layer source footage with After Effects Composition

  I have a question about the workflow of dynamic linking between Premiere Pro and After Effects. As common for most editing workflows, I started by import and organize my source footage. I then cut the entire project using the original footage. Now, as he comes to effects and final optimizations, I noticed that there are several items that I need to work in After Effects.

  I know (and use) the function 'Replace with After Effects Composition', but this only works for an item in the Assembly. I have dozens of clips from same source footage and would simply replace the master-clip with a composition. In this way, I can do the AE-job once that overall the clip and the whole project remains perfectly organized.

  As I read elsewhere, there is no characteristic that makes this replacement directly. Trying to "Replace Footage" with one generates an AE-project error. After Effects render and replace the images with the rendered results (as advised in a similar topic) is no option, given that I'd lose dynamic links in this way. My question is: Y at - it another way or the workaround to replace my source footage of the layer with an After Effects composition?

  What you can get in the way you want.  Your best option is to export a new clip of the AE and use it to a replace operation in the tray.

  In the future, as a Pseudo-solution you can put the 'AE' in their own, dedicated footage clips and change using these sequences, as if they were real clips.  This would allow you to keep the dynamic link in place.

• How trim/split a layer in After Effects?

  I started to animate using Adobe after effects CC 2015 and I have a few questions about the layers.

  I am aware that I can cut down them to the help option and support keys, however, what I wanted to do was to divide the layer so that there a gap between the two.

  For example, layer 1 is visible between 0:00 and 01:00, but what I wanted was to appear again at 02:00, leaving a blank in the middle section from 01:00 to 02:00.

  The only way I found to do this was to duplicate the layer then adjusting, but it requires a huge amount of layers.

  Is it possible to do so in the same layer?

  # You can do it in first however. The stuff you are talking about sounds a lot like video editing. AE is not a video editing software. This kind of thing is much faster and easier in the first.

  As Rick says, you can press CTRL / CMD + SHIFT + D to divide a layer. You can then adjust the layer or whether a second more to come, but it will be on a new layer. Alternatively, you can use hold keyframes on the opacity of the for keep on the same layer.

  1. Welcome to the family. AE is big, very big. It's hard. Really hard. Not sure how hard AE is learr and master.

  2. no time limit is good, but you will need the money.

  3. This is not a forum of Blender. You want to discover the film, CGI and Blender own forums for this kind of assistance.

  4 AE is for your compositing and special effects. But you will need to learn how both apps work until you decide how to distribute your project. A comparison would be shooting your film. Using a digital SLR? Do you know why? Or do you use a GoPro? Another example may be Apple Final Cut Pro. You can edit the audio in it, but it is preferable to use an audio application. You can do special effects in FCP but it is better to do complex things in motion for After Effects. How can you know what app is appropriate a lot of experience. Many failures.

  I'm working on a project in AE that involves the green screen.

  I'm having a problem with the COMPOSITION of PRE. Please keep in mind that I have done about 0 video and HAVE NOT suffered this problem so far.

  Now, whenever I try to compose Pre pictures green screen, after effects Pre composed the whole MVI_0000.MOV instead of just the DURATION of the LAYER.

  Thus forcing me to do things the long extreme way to find my points IN and OUT, that I'm afraid to do for audio, reason for synchronization.

  I feel like a one hit shortcut keyboard or something because I have not had to deal with this issue all the time I've been editing.

  I tried the things:

  removal of the preferences.

  Open a new project

  uninstalling / reinstalling AE

  software update

  analysis diagnosis by computer

  And yet nothing has worked... Does anyone else have this problem?

  Looks like your mask has too many paths of access or summits. Try to turn on caps lock shift before you open the ASP (project file) or before you launch AE. If this does not clear your Cache and preferences. If this does not resolve the problem, we need workflow details that let you to this error.
