After Effects uses a lot of RAM

Im a bit new to after effects, but I know my way around. My problem is that I have a file FRAPS 1.2 GB I want to add some effects, but after he added into the computer and clicking on preview, I get about 15 seconds of good video but after the green bar made just goes. My look at the use of mu ram and 15 seconds on the ram 11FR spell. Why does this happen?

The file there 720 p and 32 seconds long and 1.2 GB spell, shouldn't the ram so 1.2 GB file? Ram im using is corsair 1600 mhz ddr3 4 gb x 4 revenge. IM also using CS6.

The FRAPS codec creates a compressed video file.  After decompresses video effects in order to treat and it stores this video in a form uncompressed into RAM for an overview.  That's why your smaller file grows to a large amount of RAM required for previewing.

After Effects does not play long video stream in real time.  The RAM Preview aims to build segments of a short preview to check your work.  To view the long segments, make a file of the rendering queue.

  • After Effects using 5 GB of ram for the preview of a video 12 MB in size without any effect.

I after effects CC 2015 to date.

    My terms of reference are:

    CPU: i5 6500 3.2 Ghz

8 GB of RAM: DDR4-2133 MHz RAM

Storage:256 GB SSD (on which After Effects is installed)

    1 TB HARD DRIVE

Graphics card: GeForce GTX M 970, 6 GB

All the drivers are up to date.

The problem is: I create a new project and import a video in. The video has a full HD resolution and is 12.5 MB in size. First of all, it takes a minute to play the video of RAM so that it begins to play in real time. Then, the video is 30 frames per second, but reading the preview, he plays at 60 frames per second (frame rate is defined as 30 fps in composition settings). I saw the RAM usage in the Task Manager and After Effects using 5 GB of RAM. Then I applied an effect and the CPU usage rose to 100% and it took about 5 minutes to get the applied effect, and after that, After Effects crashed.

I'm quite new to After Effects, but I'm also a tech geek. I tried to play in the settings but it didn't help. I also searched on google and forums, but to no avail. This problem is essentially what makes the software unusable for me. Please HELP!

You do not want to edit long movies in AE. After effects is NOT video editing software.  A non-linear editing (NLE) like Premiere Pro is for editing photos to tell a story. AE is for compositing, Visual effects and graphic cartoons. It is for the creation of clichés that you then use in an NLE.

I suggest to get at least 16 GB of RAM to work with AE, but your system should work as it is. You will need to learn to manage your memory well and to get a glimpse at lower resolutions where possible.

Now, as to your original question. AE is not simply to play a video stream, as does a NLE. After effects (such as other software based compositing on pixels) with completely decompressed frames. When you put a video compressed in a composition, the size of the original video file has no effect on the size of the images that works with After Effects. After effects unpacks this video and works internally with a full, uncompressed resolution, frames. AE calculates the values of each pixel in each image, comes with a new pixel and then reads these pixels. Who is?

In fact, since you have so little RAM and the processor is not either, it may be a good idea to convert your video files highly compressed in a good intermediate codec for the shots, that you intend to use in AE. QuickTime with the PNG codec would be a decent choice. This way AE doesn't have to do a ton of work to decompress images behind the scenes until you can even work with him.

  • After Effects uses a lot of memory (live RAM) when you perform simple work

    Hello

When I open AE, make a new project, import a simple 20 MB mp4 file itself and start playback of the clip (RAM Preview), consumption of RAM of After Effects gets up to 5 GB, and the CPU usage gets up to 50%!

This is a really simple job, and I don't know why it takes so many resources, it wasn't happening to me before.

    I'm on Windows 8.1, I use After Effects 13.2.0.49 (2014.2) and I have 8 GB of RAM.

    Why is this happening?

    Thanks in advance.

MP4 are notoriously calculation-heavy because they are so heavily compressed.  What explains the treatment part.

RAM previews allow AE to use so much memory that it has to play in real time.  What explains the part of the memory.

Perhaps because it doesn't do anything?   When he starts using 32gigs of RAM to display the 'about' dialog that is at this time, you should start to worry.

  • Solution for Google Chrome (Helper) by using a lot of ram and cpu on mac os x

    Hi all

Some people have several tabs of google chrome, and it's using a lot of RAM. It also causes the fan go crazy sometimes. I looked for a solution for centuries, but no solution has allowed, until I stumbled upon the simple solution to use a google chrome extension that hibernates unused tabs. The problem has now completely disappeared.

There are a few different extensions that Hibernate unused tabs, but the only extension which has enough options setting to do what I want, is called "The Great Suspender".

You can set the time, after which the Hibernate (sleep) tab. The tab automatically resumes when it focuses on, (i.e., you don't need to then also click on a specific button). And the tabs of the extended day before will remain in hibernation after you restart the computer.

There are many other parameters that can be changed. (After you have made changes, don't forget to click the 'save changes' button.)

    I hope this helps.

    Thanks for the tip.

  • Can not browse the Presets of After Effects using bridge

Whenever I try to browse the presets in After Effects using Bridge, a warning notification appears saying bridge to not installed when I installed it well. So I try to uninstall it and then installed it again and it still doesn't work. Help, please.

    Hello

We published a new version of Adobe Bridge (CC 2015) on July 19, 2016. This update is available via the Adobe Creative Cloud application.

We addressed some launch bridge issues experienced on the launch of the After Effects application. Please try the new version and look for problems you encounter.

If you are not able to locate the bridge (CC 2015) on the creative cloud application, you will need to update the creative cloud application and restart your computer.

    Thank you

CC and CC 2014 are separate apps, you can uninstall the version that is not necessary, CC 2014 is the latest version.

  • After Effects use not RAM?

    Hello

I just have a question about after effects and use of the ram.

I remember before I installed the Memory Booster app - which allows you to keep track of how much ram, there was a healthy use of RAM there sequelae.

But I noticed today, while making and rendering cache in the background, the free RAM is still available in about 4 GB and I wonder why he does not use this free RAM to help a faster rendering?

This is my current settings of the multi-processing/ram on AE-essentially it is recommended to use up to 6.5 GB of RAM I allocated that I need to make it faster? I was wondering why he is staying stuck at about 3-4GB of RAM free on my system when it could easily be used by AE. I want the AE RAM usage as it is the only program running on my system when I work!Screen Shot 2013-10-25 at 14.56.01.png

Memory Booster to 3.18 GB with tab of a safari open for the Adobe forums, leaving, he climbs up to 4 GB of free RAM

    Confused!

    Thank you

Not all RAM will be used all the time - not by any software. Sometimes, the RAM is not the constrained resource.

  • After Effects keeps crashing during the RAM Preview? [Sound problem]

Hey, personal Adobe! Adobe After Effects worked well during the first week! But about 3 days ago I discovered a major problem. Whenever I have add all the sound/music files in the application and click the RAM Preview, Adobe After Effect crashes. It was surprising to me because it never happened to me before. But here's the thing, if I don't add any audio files in my project and click RAM Preview, it does not crash. Any ideas on how to solve this problem?

    Thanks again!

You should consider updating your OS and your AE.

Apple fixed some critical bugs in that related to EI 10.10.5, so I'll try that first.

So, if you don't mind the new cool blue colors, you should also consider updating AE - at least to the last version of CC 2014. There was a lot of bug fixes and new features added.

  • After Effects uses all my VRAM?

So, I just upgraded my GTX 460 SE to a GTX 770 4 GB and cut my 81 minutes rendering time on a project at 23 minutes which is awesome, but I have a question where CS5.5 AE is not allowing me to use more than 800 MB of VRAM regardles of how many models I use. A unique model of poly 300 k takes me to 700 MB (element using 3D plugin). Addition of 20 several models ranging from 20 k to 400 k does not change my VRAM usage at all. There's just around 700 MB.

What I need to change some setting to get After Effects to see that I have more VRAM which can store more models? I'm not asking so he could fill in completely all 4GB, but I expected to enjoy at least 2 to 3 GB. My old 1 GB card would fill up to 900 MB that I increased the number of models and would scale down that I removed the templates. Thanks in advance for any help!

    System Specs:

    I7 - 3930 k OC had to 4.5 GHz

    GTX 770 4 GB GPU

16 GB RAM (upgrading to 48GB soon) 1866

SSD for the OS and programs only (no games)

    SSD for scratch and media

HARD drive for media audio and low res

    Double 23 "1080 monitors (HP 23xi)

Okay, so I've done a few tests more and I discovered that I had to put the quick previews of Adaptive resolution - Open GL Off. Now, my GPU stores up to 2 GB exactly (value I put my memory of texture to). Thus, it seems as if I can put my memory of texture like that I'll also be able to make better use of my GPU. However, After Effects CS5.5 do not increase higher than 2000MB texture memory. Is there a workaround for this or After Effects is simply not able to use more than 2 GB of VRAM?

Edit: Did some more tests. For some reason any 2 GB seems to be the limit for 1080 video, but bumping up to a model of 4 K me has 4 GB very quickly. So it seems that the high quality 3D models, I've been adding did not place as much VRAM as I thought they would. Even better than it is after changing fast Adaptive resolution preview, now I can have 1000 low to medium poly count models and move around the stage in real time, no lag at all. Still not sure why have Open GL causes things to slow down so well. Maybe because 3-d element using its own rendering engine Open GL and the after effects Open GL rendering engine begins to come into conflict? No idea, anyway I am more than satisfied with my findings.

Edit 2: Ran some tests with a model plane k 4 into a model of 1080. It takes about 1.5 GB of VRAM to load, but once I run a RAM preview it takes up to 3.5 GB. It seems that everything depends on the models that you use in your projects. If you are not using crazy high res/specialemement models then you'll be fine with / 3GB, or maybe even 2 GB of VRAM, but as soon as you start using models high-resolution, models particularly high resolution of very large/complicated models such as big planes, cars, people, etc. then more VRAM really makes a difference. I hope this helps someone else down the road!

  • When will be after effects use metal.

What ae will use the metal?

    I will try to clarify:

What David showed the scene of Apple has been a demonstration of the possibility that the metal was for After Effects, as well as other Adobe creative applications. In his role as leader of our R & D group, it committed us to continue execution in general and specifically with the metal on the Mac platform. But is not a statement of specific timing of when these features will be available publicly, nor is it a promise on exactly this that parts of the application that will take advantage of this technology when that day comes.

My statements here were intended to avoid misunderstandings that there is a specific commitment in the short term to identify the characteristics of this nature in a specific version of After Effects.

    I apologize for the confusion.

  • No audio rendering in After Effects using the render queue

In after effects CC2015, all of a sudden no audio is rendered when I use the line to return, just the video.  When I use the Adobe Media Encoder queue waiting, both audio and video are rendered. All correct audio boxes are checked. I read that there is a new glitch in AE CC2015. I'd rather be able to use the Render Queue, making it faster than the Adobe Media Encoder queue. Does anyone know how to get new once audio rendered using the render queue. Thanks for any help or suggestion.

  • Is it possible to create a Qt Widgets within After Effects using the SDK?

    Hello

I would like to use Qt to create dialogs and widgets inside AfterEffects.

I started with the Panelator sample in the SDK. I can include QtGui in the project, but as soon as I create any object with QObject as a base class After Effects immediately crashes with the following error: '[...] "could not be loaded (48::46)"

When I try to delay load QtCore.dll and QtGui.dll, I can at least start the plugin and see, that the accident occurred in the initializer of QObject.

    I use

    VS 2010

    QT 4.8.5

and my buildenvironment is x 64

I was wondering if there is some sort of incompatibility of incorporation Qt into After Effects (due to the compiler/linker configuration or sets or something like that).

It is the output of the debugger:

My code of the Panel-constructor function:

    int argc = 0;

    char * argv [1] = {""};

QApplication * a = new QApplication (argc, argv); ERROR GETTING PRODUCT IN THIS LINE. for a test, I traded it to QWidget * w = new QWidget(); and sometimes as well.

    QWidget * w = new QWidget();

    w-> show();

    one-> exec();

Beyond the works AfterFX Qt fine and I also can defer loading QtCore and QtGui.

If someone of you has already experience in the use of QT in AfterEffects, I would greatly appreciate your help!

    Thanks in advance.

I've heard a similar problen with QtWidgets in a different context, and that the only solution was to connect the Qt libraries statically.

Another short in the dark: try putting the dll Qt somewhere in the path (if they aren't already) or to the folder where the "After Effects.exe', because I remember, there could be situations where the"current"Directory isn't the plugin but the source of the host folder.

First, uninstall the master application. It is not good for Android.
Second of all, free RAM is not good! The more RAM used, more

Clears the RAM when it IS NOT NECESSARY for Android. Applications like these makes
your phone battery life decrease. The app erases RAM suddenly, but then
When you open an application, Android tries to recover from memory, using CPU,
