After reformatting my pc, the activation code is incorrect.

Hello.

I decided to reformat my windows xp home pc. It reformatted with success.

I tried to enter the product key on the side of my pc and it seems to be incorrect.

I also tried "activate your product over the phone" that did not work.

Is their any idea of what the problem is?

Thank you.

    Help, please!

Your relocation was made of a set of recovery discs Dell - which uses a key to Dell and cannot be enabled on any other brand.

It's a Dixons computer odf, then I suspec that the COA sticker on the case is for XP Home edition, while the installation is Pro.

You need to return to this system to its licensed version of Windows by using the recovery media for that PC - or a good disc XP Home OEM System Builder.

  • I need to reinstall a clean vista 32-bit, but after you have entered the activation code I get the error from a previous version of windows

Because the two system restore points are corrupt, I need to reinstall vista, but I get an error message using the previous operating system after I entered the activation code, is there a work around? (lost in moving to the new apt disk backup)

    Hello

you sitting not what type of disc you are using

you start from the DVD drive to do a clean install

to boot from the dvd drive to be able to you will see a way to get into the bios Setup at the bottom of the screen or command menu start

It would be F2 or delete etc to enter the BIOS or F12 etc. for the start menu

Change boot order it do dvd drive 1st in the boot order

    http://helpdeskgeek.com/how-to/change-boot-order-XP-Vista/

    and read this too

    http://www.theeldergeek.com/Vista/vista_clean_installation.html

and here are the different ways to reinstall vista

Contact the computer manufacturer and ask them to send you to vista recovery disks to reinstall the operating system back as it was when you bought it

they do it for a nominal cost of $

also ask them if you have a recovery partition on your hard drive to get back to the way you bought

you would normally press F8, F9, F10 or F11 or Alt + F10 or 0 to start to start the recovery process according to the manufacturer

Ask them of the exact key sequence

or borrow a vista microsoft dvd; not a HP, Acer recovery disk etc

Make sure that you borrow the correct 32-bit or 64-bit microsoft dvd to your computer

they contain all versions of vista

This is the product key that determines which version of vista is installed

    Hello

You can contact Dell and ask them to send you a set of recovery disks and to reinstall the operating system.

They should do this for a small fee.

If this method has not been destroyed by the last re - install, and if you have never received a recovery disk when you bought your computer, there should be a recovery Partition on the hard drive to reinstall Vista on how you purchased your computer.

The recovery process can be started by pressing a particular combination of the key or keys at startup. (Power on / start)

    Maybe it's F10, F11, Alt + F10, etc., depending on the manufacturer.

With a Dell, you press F8 at startup and follow the instructions

    http://www.Dell.com/support/troubleshooting/us/en/19/KCS/KcsArticles/ArticleView?docid=266618

The methods above resettlement generally do not require allows you to provide a product key during Installation, the recovery process uses the Installation product key factory to activate automatically during the resettlement process.

I had a problem with my window 7 do not allow me to do live updates. Supprt Tech guided me through the steps necessary when requiring eventually get a difficult access remotely guided. The tech assured me that since I don't have the activation code for my Windows 7 ultimate that it provide me on. That I would be prompted to enter one after recovery and the restoration was complete.

I wonder if I'll be able to get this code now?

Also, I lost all text documents I had written and recorded? We did a flash drive recovery I've used but I am unable to locate my document.

    Thanks for any help.

System Restore does not destroy documents, but a recovery will depend on what has been done.

If the remote technician entered the product key, so he could be there.

  • Is it possible to get the activation code of the older PC so that I can use it in my class?

Original title: Activation of Windows 8.

If there is some time I had windows 8 pro to use in my construction of future games. Not knowing I could install it on 1 computer (thought it would be at least 2) I installed it as a test on my desktop PC previos where it has not yet run properly cause it was an older model (and if you haven't used since then, cause I have a laptop with Windows7). But now my PC gaming is finished and I suddenly find I could activate only on 1 PC.

So my question is. Is it possible to get the activation code of the older PCs (that I use even more, maybe even remove it) so that I can use it in my class? Or that the activation code and the money just went in the toilet?
I could install Windows 7 to 2 different PC-s(didn't try more cause there was no need) with no problems and it wasen can't pack family, why is Windows 8 different? Sometimes errors occur.
Ask cause I went all on buy the parts, I have no money to buy a new copy of windows 8.
    Awayting for your answers.
    Thank you
Edit! Maybe I'm a solution. Going to try it out after I return to work.
    It's the solution

"I have Windows 8/8 Pro is installed on my PC." If I replace with another PC, can I install my copy of Windows 8 on my new PC until I remove it from the other? »

Yes. The highest point is the one you mentioned: you must remove Windows 8 from your old computer before you activate on the new. In other words, you can have your copy of Windows 8 or Windows 8 Pro running on a single computer at a time.

Another thing to keep in mind is that if you have installed an upgrade copy under license of Windows 8 on a computer and then you want to use it on another computer, the same 'upgrade' rules apply: you must have a previous version of Windows on the computer before you install Windows 8. You can ignore this rule, if you started with Windows 8.1

Important: You can't "move" Windows 8 or Windows 8 Pro on another computer if your computer is pre-installed with Windows 8. Your copy of Windows 8 is what OEM licensed which means that you are allowed to use Windows 8 on the computer on which he came already installed on.

"How many times can I reinstall Windows 8 on another computer? Assuming I follow the rule 'uninstall old installation', peux I keep installing Windows 8 on different computers? »

There is no limit to the number of computers that you reinstall Windows 8 on as long as you follow the rules, that I discussed in the last question.

    Hi NeemeK,

We appreciate the research you have done to find more information on this issue. The information you found were correct.

OEM product key can only be used with the computer on which it is installed on.

When the operating system is not active (uninstalled) in the old computer, you can install it on the new computer. This applies to any number of computers you use.

If you get any errors, you can perform the activation of the phone.

I'll perform a clean reinstall of windows xp. I would like to know how to order a replacement installation CD and locate the activation code.

The key is on an orange label on the cd case, if a commercial version, if a preinstalled version its on a sticker on your box

  • Have the activation code but not to the disc I have.

I replaced my hard drive on an old computer. I do not have electric copy of Windows XP Home Edition activation I have I. I have the activation code for the home edition that came on my computer. It is an old computer that I don't want to buy Windows & because I intend by replacing it in 6 to 12 months.

    Hello gwil5,

First of all, look carefully around in the old computer.  There should be a sticker (known as a certificate of authenticity or CoA) who would have the product key for the windows initially provided with this computer.

Otherwise, if you do not find the product key for this computer, then you will need to purchase a new copy of Windows to be used on this computer.

The product key provided with your other computer cannot be used on the old computer.  Windows (and product key) that are pre-installed in a computer can be used in a computer and cannot be used on other computers.

    Thank you

  • I don't have the activation code for my Windows Vista.

    OT: activation code.

I have a computer dell laptop with windows vista. The OS has been corrupted and I had to reinstall Vista.  I lost the original disk, but concluded that a backup I had made when I got the computer. It worked, but I don't have the activation code. I called Dell to ask them to send me disks of software for the software I got when I bought the computer. They are my account, but was told that they no longer support vista. For $200.00, they could get my computer work. I told them it worked. I just need the disc or activation code. They said that Microsoft would not let that happen. I don't know why. I bought the software, when I bought the equipment. It's mine.

I called Microsoft. Microsoft said that they no longer support Vista. They said buy a new computer or a new copy of Windows. I have four computers, without counting those at work. My other computers use Windows 10. I use the vista computer to play music. I know that I can buy a new computer for 200.00, but the Vista computer is all I need. I have that I just need a code to activate it. Because Microsoft does not sell, does support it, just give me a code. Microsoft tech support guy told me: 'go to the black market on the internet. Do a search for activation codes. I said, OK, given that Dell will not help me with the products that I've bought from them, and Microsoft doesn't help me with the product they make and Microsoft makes me refers to the black market, I guess that's my only option. »

A search of the internet has shown that there are a lot of people with my problem and many solutions of the product to keygens keys lists. But so far none of them have worked, and my anti-virus try to protect myself against malware. Y at - it REALLY No. MICROSOFT SOLUTION to MY PROBLEM, BUT THE BLACK MARKET?

    Hello

Recovery Dell disks who buy from Dell are what is recommended when when you lose your product key.

But you never mention looking for him:

The COA sticker is either or in the battery compartment on the underside of the laptop.

With a desktop computer, it's on the side, the back or the top of the computer case.

If you need a disc to use this product key with:

You can also borrow and use a Microsoft Vista DVD, which contains the files for the different editions of Vista (Home Basic, Home Premium, Business and Ultimate) must be installed. The product key on your computer / Laptop box determines what Edition is installed.

Other manufacturers recovery DVDs are should not be used for this purpose.

And you need to know the version of 'bit' for Vista, as 32-bit and 64-bit editions come on different DVDs

Here's how to do a clean install of Vista using a DVD of Vista from Microsoft:

"How to do a clean install and configure with a full Version of Vista '

    http://www.Vistax64.com/tutorials/117366-clean-install-full-version-Vista.html

And once the operating system is installed, go to your computer manufacturer's website and get the latest drivers for your particular model or laptop computer.

And phone Activation may be necessary when you use the above installation method.
