After that Conversion XP hangs during Activation

I really hope someone is able to help. I will try to be as complete as possible in my explanation.

Here's the scenario. I have a Dell laptop with a version of XP OEM. I want to turn this into a Virtual Machine, then install Windows 7 on the laptop, then run the virtual machine of 7. However, I don't want the XP configuration to change (the name of the computer and domain).

First of all, I made the conversion (which took an act of Congress to complete with success). Then, I needed to install the AHCI drivers. So I used my OEM drive and a floppy disk with the driver, I needed and did a repair install. And never during the installation of repair done I prompted for a product key.

Can I move my VM to a separate computer (a Dell server). Windows starts. I type my password to connect and it pushes me with, you must activate this copy of Windows. You want to do now? If I'm not saying it disconnects me. If I say yes, the popup box goes away, and I find myself looking at my paper painted. I leave like that all night and nothing ever seems to happen.

The reason why I moved the virtual computer on the server is to avoid duplicate names on the network. I also checked the server network connectivity and it is fine. The virtual machine shows that the virtual NETWORK card is filled, but I don't really have a way to verify connectivity.

I know that the OEM product key is a violation, but I intend on editing a volume license as soon as I have the chance. I tried to use the SMBIOS.reflectHost = "TRUE" to see if that would let me connect but it still prompts for activation (I expected that since it is on the server and not the laptop).

So my question is, what is the origin of XP to hang? From what I have read I think that the product activation window is supposed to happen is let me activation online or tell me to call, but I never get it.

Is there one solution other than to change the product key from the laptop to a volume license and then conversion?

Thanks in advance!

because the installation media for OEM and VLK is different, the only way that I usually do is to perform a "repair installation" using the Volume License CD and the product key

Hi people, I'm new to the forum. I have a big problem with After Effects CS5. After the program has been open for some time, when I try to save, the program blocks (the first recorded little perfectly fine, if not a little slowly). I can not even close with CTRL + ALT + DELETE, I have to restart my computer. I work on a PC with a processor Intel Core i7 with 24 GB of memory RAM. Running Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit. • Unable to power the computer on after that he was arrested during the night

I just bought a new desktop computer Compac Persario.  I plugged it in to a surge protector and night I stopped him.  Last night, I stopped it as usual, and when I got up this morning, it lights up.  The power switch on the computer does nothing.  Nothing lights up and there is no sound from the cooling fan in the back.  All other plugged into the surge protector works, including speakers and the monitor.  If I unplug the power cord and plug back in and press the power button it turns immediately. I get a bad cord?  I had several HP computers and never had this problem.

  • After that computer has been idle, error installation about DriverCure

Get the message box on my screen after that computer remained inactive during the night of DriverCure saying Setup error. I was not able to locate to uninstall / reinstall. I don't remember always to help or even try to load this product. How can I get rid of this?

If you go to start and type msconfig. Then go to the tab startup look to see if you see a program called DriverCure here. If so, then uncheck the box and restart your computer to see if you get the Setup error.

Before going any further, do a manual system restore point.
Right-click on the computer icon in the desktop, then choose Properties
In the left pane, click System Protection
Alternatively, to directly access the System Protection tab, click Start and type SystemPropertiesProtection.exe.
If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
In the System Protection dialog box, type a description, and then click on create.

If you find DriverCure, then look at the location and copy the path. It would be something like: HKeyLocalMachine\Software\Microsoft\CurrentVersion\Run
Then go to start, type regedit. Then highlight the path you have copied, if drivercure present in the key, and then delete it.

Then reboot and see if you still see the same error install DriverCure.

Please answer back with an update.

    Sincerely,.

  • Loss of connection network several times a day while actively using internet. Will not stop after that.

I read a lot of posts on the Vista network connections problems when changing modes of consumption, or when the wireless adapter is inactive. None of them apply to me because I lose my network connection when I have my laptop plugged in and I'm actively using the internet (for example, watch movies online). After trying "diagnose and repair" options, nothing seems to work. The only way I found to get internet again is to restart my computer. What makes it still more difficult, is that after that happens, my computer doesn't shut down normally. It freezes at the blue screen that says "shutting down". Whenever this problem with the network connection happens I am forced to make a difficult start (hold the power button until the power is off) if I want to use the internet again. It's only happened for about a month, and it's happened before and after that I installed Service Pack 2. I don't remember installing any software a month ago with the exception of Windows updates that I can't uninstall (the button uninstall is hidden for some updates). Any help I can get would be much appreciated because it is very frustrating to have hard to start my laptop several times a day in order to continue to work on this.

    -Sam Goodrich

    Hi Sam

I regret that no one answered earlier.

Since you don't have physical access to the router, this will make the diagnosis very difficult.  And, given that this problem is intermittent, once again, very hard to track down what is causing the problem.  You can very well just to lose the intensity of the signal.

I mentioned the switch on the laptop because if anything goes wrong, who "could" cause this problem, and given that the laptop is no longer under warranty, you will not be able to have your factory repair it (for free of course).

I don't see what other suggestions from the Forum can give you.  Once again, with this problem being sparadic (intermittent) and since you share Internet access with someone else and do not have physical access to the router for troubleshooting purposes, my hands are basically related...

  • Vista Ultimate x 64 Media Center hang during and after the recording program

I recently bought a Sony VGC-RT150Y.  More information can be obtained here:

    http://www.SonyStyle.com/webapp/WCS/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?catalogId=10551&StoreID=10151&langid=-1&ProductID=8198552921665507557

    Highlights of material are:

    NVIDIA® GeForce® 9600M GT GPU

AVerMedia 313 has (analog TV tuner card)

AVerMedia A317D (digital TV tuner card)

The unit works Vistax64, Ultimate Edition.  I installed all the updates that are available through Microsoft Update.  And there is no download with Sony indicating that they could help solve the problem I have.

The problem is that the computer hangs sporadically after that it registers a program.  After a night of record unattended, the unit is on and does not respond to the keyboard.  The display is blank or frozen.  The computer is connected via a wired network.  I try clicking of the camera and it does not.

Sometimes programs are saved in their entirety.   Sometimes programs are truncated.

When I try to get more information via the monitor of performance & reliability, all I get is "stop disruptive."  When I go into the control panel "Report Problems", there is no reported problems.  History of recording program in Media Center lists only one generic error indicating power has been disrupted or the system was not available.  I know that there is no power failure, because I have a NAS connected to an inverter and there is no paper power failure.

I reported the problem to Sony.  They sent a technician to replace the power supply and the motherboard.  Still no change.

Defective equipment could only be a TV tuner or the RAM.  All other material was traded through the exchange of motherboard.

I'm now back to thinking it's a software problem.  Any ideas on how to start this chasing?

After having poking around on the forums and a little thought, here's what I'll try:

    1. play with the power settings to ensure that the unit never sleeps.  I want to see if the problem is with MCE or power management.

    2. try 'analog' instead of digital recording.  I'm mainly recording clear QAM channels.

I'd be open to other suggestions that you (all) may have to try to understand this.

    Hi Claude,.

Thank you for writing to Microsoft answers Community Forums.

I can't click Next after that I accept the terms of use on programs like photoshop or solid works? Help, please

    Hi Elano,

Thanks for joining us out on Microsoft Community Forums.

According to the description provided, its looks like you is faced with a problem during the installation of programs.

It would be great if you can answer these questions to help you further.

    1. is the issue limited only during the installation of any program in particular?

2 have you made changes on the computer before this problem?

I suggest you to check if the program is compatible with Windows 7.

    Windows 7 Compatibility Center: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/compatibility/windows-7/en-us/default.aspx

If it is not compatible with Windows 7, then try to run the program in compatibility mode.

Make older programs in this version of Windows: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/Make-older-programs-run-in-this-version-of-Windows

I suggest to perform a clean boot, and then try to install programs.

Clean boot will check if any third-party application is causing the problem, as the clean boot helps eliminate software conflicts.

How to solve problems using the clean boot in Windows 7:

Note: Once the diagnosis has been made, make sure that you try to step 3 of the article to reset the computer as usual

  • Add a homegroup password after that put Windows in place is over and a password was not entered during the set up process

    Hello

I had a hard drive crash and had a new hard drive installed.  At the end of the recovery process, I was asked to answer questions such as the choice of a language.  I also had the opportunity to put a password in a homegroup. Not entered a password.  BIG MISTAKE.  I can't reach my home group now because I do not have a password.  I don't have the ability to change the password that I never entered one in a first time.  Unless someone can help me, it seems that my only option is to make the process of recovery everywhere.  My concern, there is that I won't be able to download Microsoft Office almost again because it won't let me this time.  I activated once and he didn't allow me to activate again. But he did.  I think that he won't let me activate a third time.  Can someone tell me where I can go to add a password to my homegroup.  No help from HP or Microsoft Windows has been useful.  I have Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium.

    Hi kschoff.

Thanks for posting your query in Microsoft Community.

From your description, I understand that you are unable to add a password for home group after that Windows set up was complete.

I suggest you create a new group home and check.

    Hope the above information helps.
Make it happen to us and made me know the status of your question so that I can fix it as soon as possible.

Other alters, work very well on other applications if the retructure is running in like 1 hour.

    MAXL > alter system disconnect session on application CONSOLE;

    MAXL > alter database CONSOL. CONSOL force restructuring;

MAXL > alter enable CONSOL application connects.

    ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Above COMMAND FAILS and HANGS - must

    Restart Essbase

These errors go to the screen in MAXL to reboot which is probably norman.

ERROR - 1042016 - network error []: connection was closed...

ERROR - 1042016 - network error []: connection was closed...

There is also a timeout parameter in the EA.  Right mouse click on the name of the server under servers Essbase and choose the Edition command-> properties

Then change the autodisconnect / limit of inactivity over the 210 minutes that takes your restructuring.  The default setting is 60.  I'd do this first, before you attempt to modify the time-out of the Regional service in my last answer.

    Good luck.
