  (1) change your screen saver so that it becomes active after 1 minute of inactivity.

  2) change to something simple (white screen) - but REPLACE it with something you don't normally use.  Test it (Preview).

  (3) check your hibernation settings.  I recommend turning them offshore, but at least make sure that the time is longer than your screen saver time.

  (4) check your settings ' Power off Monitor "or"set Monitor to Sleep. "  Make sure that the time is greater than the screen saver, but less than the hibernation.

  (5) reboot your system.

  (6) If you have a wireless mouse - turn it / unplug the machine key.
  Even for a wireless keyboard.
  If you have a laser mouse, make sure that the surface under it's clean/solid color.

  Now, wait.  If the screen saver does not strike after 90 seconds (give him some extra time) - then you have a problem.  If this is the case - one of the things that you did above was your original problem.  Work from there to know which.  ;-)

  Seems to me that you can download in the wrong place, or you can have a case mismatch in the name of the file.

  Make sure you have the root directory defined correctly in your FTP credentials and that you do not have this directory appear anywhere in your local files.

  For example, if the root directory of your site is "public_html" it must show in the field of root directory / Directory FTP host your site and NOT in the files of the window list.   Wiping the phone clean and restore to factory condition as advised by "customer service" (that may be), you actually deleted all the files that were on the computer. Recovery, even by a specialized at great expense data recovery company will be at best fragmentary.

  I'm moving your question to the forum space Windows for system repair and recovery, where it is possible that you may receive some additional tips, but I think that you can simply cut your losses at this point. If there is a hardware problem that caused the initial symptoms, it is likely that you will face more questions and data loss unless you get the hardware repaired/replaced.
