  How is formatted the external hard drive? Is the file system on the drive Mac OS extended (journaled) or other system files?  Is the drive directly connected by USB or similar, or is it a SIN?

  Are you sure that the HARD drive is recognized correctly in the BIOS?
  Seems that the laptop does not support the new drive (100 GB, 7200 RPM).

  Perhaps because of the large size of HARD drive and the fast rotation value.
  I would try to use a 60GB 5400 RPM a 80 GB HARD drive maybe works but it seems that the 100 GB HARD drive is not compatible

  I think that the boot order has been the bad HARD drive in the BIOS.
  At the new disk you do not installed any OS, and in my opinion, this is a reason for starting problems.

  I had a problem with my computer so I reset my PC back to factory setting. Before doing anything, I backed up all my documents/pictures in an external hard drive.

  After successfully resetting my PC to factory setting, I ran restore backup files... I took me 4 hours to restore. Restore files has been a success.

  When I restart my PC, I couldn't find anything my back upwards. I don't know that there have been restored as I have only 50 G to 200G left of my C drive.

  I was running factory installed windows 7 Home premium in my laptop hp pavilion dv6 6119tx. Due to hard drive crash I replaced with new HARD drive.  Previously, I did system image backup using easeus todo backup and recovery softeware.   (4) I then did a hotsync, which now had the name of Hotsync to choose and feeling that it was a Virgin tungsten, all the old data has been reinstalled.

  The Seagate Barracuda SATA 1 TB hard drive died, and I replaced it with a Seagate Barracuda 2 TB drive. The re - install Windows 7 went ok, but I couldn't connect to the net.
