I right click on the icon, click on remove, then OK and get messge this file is no longer located at the location try again. Tried to drag the trash - same result icon.

Hello

Try this: open the file/Options/Display Control Panel tab and change the options to display the hidden files and folders and uncheck the line to Hide protected operating system files. Click apply/ok. You should now be able to see one or two files desktop.ini on the desktop. Delete both, then logoff all accounts (everything must be in user switch mode) and reconnect. See if the icon is still there. If so, repeat the steps above but reboot after deleting the files. • After uninstalling a program cannot remove the icon on the desktop

After you uninstall a program, I stayed with the icon on my desktop. I tried to remove the icon, but I couldn't. I got an error message saying it did not find the program so could not delete the message icon. I ran across this error often and would like some comments on how to remove icons or everything that's left after you have removed (uninstalled) a program, thanks.

The easiest way is to reinstall the program > removes 1 icon > then uninstall the program again.

  • my volume icon is missing after uninstalling some programs inadvertently. What should do?

When trying to uninstall a program, I uninstalled inadvertently something else. Apparently has something to do with the sound icon. According to the constructor for the audio endpoint Microsoft.either audio, Windows or Windows does not work.

I can help you to restore the Volume icon in the system tray (some call it the taskbar, some call it the notification area). But no guarantee that the icon will only work if you had uninstalled something you're not supposed to.

    Here is the tutorial.

    Hello

Why you n t use the Restore tool of the Windows system that would help you to define the operating system back to the point of time at the beginning?

I guess you deleted the sound/sound driver software and the System Restore tool should help you recover this software.

Go to start - all programs - Accessories - System Tools - System Restore
Then, select choose a different restore point. A choice, a restore point dialog box appears. Choose a restore point and click Next.

    Hello

    1. you have an active antivirus program installed on your computer?
2 - is the issue appear only on your computer desktop or other readers too?
    3. have you done any software or hardware changes on your computer before this problem?
To work with the issue, refer to these methods.

    Method 1:
I suggest you run an antivirus scan using the Microsoft Safety Scanner to confirm that your computer is free from any infection by the virus. Please find the link below.
    http://www.Microsoft.com/security/scanner/en-us/default.aspx
Note: the Microsoft Safety Scanner expires 10 days after being downloaded. To restart a scan with the latest definitions of anti-malware, download and run the Microsoft Safety Scanner again.

The Microsoft Safety Scanner is not a replacement for the use of antivirus software that offers continuous protection.

    Hello

It's like as if all your slots target for your shortcut got a little messed up. Here is a list of the simple troubleshooting steps that I suggest.

    • When this problem started to happen
    • Have you made a change to your system, such as installing the software before that happens?
    • Have you tried to delete the shortcut icons and create new ones on the oldest?
    • Have you tried to change the target location manually? -To do so, right click on any shortcut icon of the present Office on your computer, locate your target and see if it takes you directly to your location of program if not, go to your local disk, program files and scroll to the program that you want as a shortcut on your desktop. Then go on the address tab and click once. Copy and paste the address into the location your shortcut properties target.

    Hope this helps,

    Kind regards

  • Volume shortcut icon has disappeared from the Vista tray

Volume shortcut icon has disappeared from my status bar at the bottom of the screen... How do I get it back?
Seems silly, but I can't find it!

    Hello

Have you checked the settings in the taskbar and Start Menu Properties?
There should be a tab named Notification area.

In this tab, you find an option; Hide inactive icons.
You can turn off (disable) this device or you can customize it.
In addition, you can choose which icons should be available and shows even the Hide inactive icons option would be activated.

In some cases, these options may be grayed out
In this case, you will need to find a registry key:
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER Settings\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion \TrayNotify

and here you have to delete the keys: + IconStreams + and + PastIconStream +.

If you have tried to change the shortcut icon on the desktop, by parameters change icon, sometimes do it 2 - 3 times before that change selected icon.
If this does not work, you can try changing the addition of your account under the tabs for security and parameters.
If this is a common problem, you can change the security for the folder Desktop (C:\Users\Your account-utilisateur\Bureau), same procedure, parameters and security, add your account with full rights to the folder.
If dinner you can use advanced security features, change of ownership, to your account and then add the account under approval. If possible change prior to the same owner or administrators.

NB. Version not English this name for the tabs are perhaps not leave right.
    It worked in my case.
