agent of undiscovered database grid control

Hello

I installed the agent 12 c under user oracle grid control-> we use oracle userid to install grid agent oem12c
but I have a hypd database running on the same server under user PHyp. We used PHyp userid to install the hyperion database.

now when I try to add the database in 12 c agent is not to find out.

appreciate any suggestions.
Thank you

Assuming that the database in question is an Oracle database, check that:

-The owner of the agent software can read the/etc/oratab or/var/opt/oracle/oratab file depending on the platform.
Note: For the discovery of database work, it is necessary to have an appropriate entry for the database in the oratab file.

-The owner of software agent (oracle) should be in the same group of BONES with the owner of database software (PHyp) to allow reading and enforcement officer some files in the database host.

Kind regards
-Loc

  • RMAN and repositories on the same database grid control

What are the disadvantages of having the RMAN Repository and repository on the same database grid control?

    What effect does this have

    1. daily maintenance

    2. after disaster or high availability... or the recovery scenarios.

3 is server performance with respect to the use of the CPU and memory - not desirable to have two repositories on the same database?

Currently we have not a RMAN or a repository of GC. We intend to implement both. Angle of savings, it would be good if we can just build another data base for two repositories on an existing database server with 2 production databases. The server has enough CPU and RAM face for 1 new database, but that would mean an exaggeration to have 2 new databases.

If it is not advisable to have two repositories on the same database, then we would need strictly two separate databases, in this case, we will need to go to a new database server host two databases, which the org seeks to avoid, as this would mean that to buy a new license.

I tried searching a few books, but don't have no clear guidance on the same. Any opionion would really help. Thank you.

    Concerning

Where this instance fails, all rman needs to restore is in the database control file. How to restore a database with rman from the command line, without a catalog. (The backup and Recovery Guide has details of how do.) This will get data back so that you can use the grid again control.

In order to insure against a default of the machine hosting the instance, verify that the database is in log mode archive and protected with scheduled backups of hot and copy the backup files to another server.

Other options for high availability, you have a license (Data Guard, RAC) could also be deployed for this instance, if you need more recovery options.

  • Change of control of the database grid control

Client ask us to change the grid control to the control of the database.
The database is located in the windows 2003 server system.
    1. stop the ORACLE agent service;
    2. order entry "emctl start dbconsole", it pops up the message "the service name is invalid.
    3. I try to recreate the dbconsole.
EMCA - deconfig dbcontrol db-rest drop
then we stock in the fall of the EM.

    Could help them about this?

Yes, you can always go back to the old situation of:
    Drop the dbcontrol repository
Start the agent, if it is not already running
Add the (GC) database or use the agent: directory AGENT_HOME run agentca d

Your not to go to dbcontrol would be:
    Remove the target GC
Stop the agent on the server and remove the agent in GC, disable the agent service. Steps if you do not have ' t have any other DB on the server to be monitored by GC

EMCA - config dbcontrol db-rest create if necessary deposit everything first: emca - deconfig dbcontrol db-rest drop

    emctl start dbconsole

You may need a patch for dbcontrole according to the db version you are using:

    Look for them
$AGENT_HOME\sysman\log\emoms.log and $AGENT_HOME\sysman\log\emoms.trc and take action

Normally below a series of steps should help:

    . / emctl stop agent

    . / emctl clearstate agent

    . / emctl unsecured agent

    . / emctl upload agent

    . / emctl secure agent

    . / emctl status agent

  • Upgrading to 10g to 11g agent and switch to another grid control

I have sent a NEW Grid Control 11 g on a new server, but all my targets are enrolled in an OLD 10 g grid control.

Now, I would like to upgrade an agent 10 g saved with grid OLD command 10 g for an oracle target 10.2.0.5 dabase running 32-bit Windows),
    using the pull (agentDownload.vbs) method.

It is supported to run agentDownload.vbs in upgrade mode by specifying the NEW grid control?

    My environment:
    OLD Grid Control 10.2.0.5 on Windows 2003 x 64
NEW 11.1.0.1 on Linux x 64 Grid control
Oracle 10.2.0.5 database TARGET. Standard running on Windows 2003 x 86

    Thank you
    Julian

    Hi Julian,.

You cannot run this mentioned during the upgrade. But after upgrade, you can point a WHO to another agent using the following document:

How to point an Agent to a different grid WHO control and a repository? (Doc ID 413228.1)

NOTE: Please note that this procedure is valid only for the agents of 10 GB & 11g. This procedure is not valid in 12 c.

    Hello

I need help on the extraction of repository of grid control. My database of the Grid control is 10.2.0.5 on Solaris 64-bit.
In grid control, there is a report in the reports (installation of Enterprise Manager-> Agent information) tab that displays the status of all agents configured. I have the similar requirment but I will be filtering based on certain criteria and other factors, so I need a query sqlplus to extract information from the repository grid agent base of databases.
Can someone please help to get information from the OMS using SQL repository Agent * MORE

  • 10g Grid Control with database 11g

    Hello

According to the name of the topic, it is possible to manage a database 11g with 10g grid control? The situation is that 10g grid is up and running and we have several new 11g databases, can they be added?

After that, when I try to install an agent from the web interface, I'm invited only with the Linux platform, however the 11g database is under Windows, how can this be resolved? (Enterprise Manager Grid Control works on linux)

Thank you very much for the input.

Yes, it can. But better to use the Agent and the Group of OEM Grid Control 10.2.0.5 patch.

Not sure I understand how you install the agent, could you clarify? It comes from the OEM Grid COntrol? Have you downloaded the Agent for Windows?

  • Grid Control 11g with 8i databases

    Hello

I have a few databases 8i and noticed that they are not compatible with 11g but with 10g Grid Control that I use now.
Means that they do not work in 11g GC or simply not supported?

    As per

Auditor Certification Oracle Enterprise Manager Grid Control [ID 412431.1]

OEM 10 G GRID supports 8.1.7.4. databases. And through Oracle 11 G grid will not support.

This means that you can continue to use, but in the case of any question, you will not be able to take the help of the Support of Oracle.

But I'm sure that you can monitor the database 8i with 11G grid.

I suggest you use the 10G agent for monitoring database 8i because with officials of 11 G you might face questions of database 8i.

  • Data Guard - Grid Control - Standby database

    Heys,

now I have to Clusters RAC. The next step will be to set up a database on hold to prepare a graceful failover.

But what are the next steps?
I currently install GridControl on a separate host with the option: company Manager10g grid control by using an existing database
    The installation still work...

What are the steps? All documentation? Tutorials?
I need to install agents on each client in the cluster?
    As for name resolution?
Any configuration of the necessary listener?
The configuration is made via command line for the Data Guard?

    Christian

    Hello Christian,.

Maybe you should have Data Guard documentation. Here's the URL:

    http://download.Oracle.com/docs/CD/B19306_01/server.102/b14239/TOC.htm

There is also a section RAC.

  • Is 10g Grid Control compatible with Database 11g R2?

    Hi all

I tried the certificaction for grid control matrix in Metalink and it shows the latest compatible version of the database to create the repository is 11.1 also I do not know if he could watch a 11.2 database...

If I try to install the usual way, I get an error of invalid version and if I use the silent mode, I'm stuck on an error, so I guess that, for now, it is still impossible.

Any of you have had experiences like mine? I had planned to use it to administer Data Guard...

If he could watch a 11.2 database...

It can monitor, at least the basic functions, I added a database of 11 GR 2 targets being watched (more exactly the agent discovered it correctly). New features (and some for dataguard, too) are not yet covered. And it is not supported. 10g is not very accurate, is not the latest version 10.2.0.5 running on Windows Server 2003, don't know about the lower versions.

The lack of official support, I would not included another 11 GR 2 databases in production environments.

  • Unable to connect to databases via Grid Control

    Hello world

I have seen similar topics on the forums, but none of them could help me.

I installed version OEM Grid Control 5 on a rhel 5.3. I started to deploy agents on multiple hosts (windows 2003 and linux). I now opened ports in the firewall:
    TCP_4889: agent-> control grid
    TCP_1521: grid-> agent control
    TCP_3872: grid-> agent control

Agents are up and I see all the instances in the target/databases tab.
    Here's my problem:
The State of each instance is Metric Collection error and the message is * "this database is not configured."

When I click on Configure , then test the connection , I have the following error:
    Unable to connect to the database: IO exception: connection is the connection descriptor was (description = (address = (host = myserver_hostname)(protocol=tcp) (port = 1521)) (connect_data = (service_name = instance_name) (instance_name = instance_name)(UR=A)))

When I connect to the server, I can connect to the database, the listener is in place. But emctl status dbconsole says:
    TZ set to Europe/Paris
OC4J Configuration problem. $ORACLE_HOME/oc4j/j2ee/OC4J_DBConsole_servername_instancename not found.

    But this file is...

  • Can I use Management Agent of dbconsole to upload to the grid control?

Maybe a strange question, but I can't find an answer in the documentation.

I have a 10.2.0.4 normal Oracle Home, and in the past, I used dbconsole at Oracle. Now, I have installed Grid Control.

Now my question is: do I really install another agent, or can I use the existing agent (which has been used by dbconsole) to download the who to control Grid?

    Thank you

    Jürgen

If dbconsole is no longer needed, you can disable it and remove its repository in the local database. Monotherapy with grid control is a weight quite a bit lighter than dbconsole/agent alongside a database.
