  Is it possible to have these impressive packages of SqlDeveloper / Datamodeller with JDK/JRE, also for newer versions?

  I jumped to SqlDeveloper 4.1 ai2 and amused myself by hacking with cygwin tips etc to get the jdk8 extracted beside the SqlDeveloper in Win7.

  This was due of error dialogs "this program is blocked by group policy..." when you try to install jdk8.

  Because I didn't want to argue the Win7 configurations java driven 'politics of the group' I just have to installation with SqlDeveloper and jdk8 in same home' - directory.

  Otherwise, the installation of the latest version of SqlDeveloper is going very well.

  The absence of the correct jdk in installation package can be real showstopper for many of us.

  What is EA1 or ai2? My version of ai2 is 4.1.0.18 not 17 as you mentioned.

  Ai2, I don't get a popup but I did in EA1. Also find and replace was pretty useless in EA1, but seems to be working (not extensively tested yet) in ai2.

  Your mistake is almost identical in cause and the solution to this

  In SQL Dev, if you specify a string of ' basic' connection, Dev SQL uses the information that you have provided to build the connection string used to route the request to the specified server and port, and then specify the SID or the SERVICE that is requested of the listener.  Of course the specified host must be accessible over the network and it must be a listener on this host, listening on the specified port, and the listener must have knowledge of the SID or service requested.

  If you specify a TNS connection string, what you specify is the name of network defined in $ORACLE_HOME/network/admin/tnsnames.ora service.  This entry defines the host, port, and SID name or SERVICE.

  And it is best to always use SERVICE instead of SID.

  It is in the product.conf file in your directory of roaming profiles (if in windows) and in the \.sqldeveloper of your $HOME file $ if your Mac or Linux

  It will be a 4.1 subdirectory, edit the file product.conf in this directory

• sqldeveloper 4.1 UI refresh problem with win7

  I have a problem with user interface with windows 7 64 bit sqldeveloper. I downloaded the latest version (4.1.0.19.07), I have improved my jdk (1.8.0_45). my video driver is the latest version. Whenever I run sqldeveloper and try clicking on a menu, nothing happens and if I move the mouse menu somethimes drop-down is displayed one by one.

  Also, I tried everything I found like adding this parameter to sqldeveloper.conf. "AddVMOption - Dsun.java2d.noddraw = true".

  I have a problem with my work and personal laptop.actually, this is not new for me, is the latest version, I use sqldeveloper: 4.0.0.13.

  What should I do?

  I guess I think, I compare 4.0.0.13 and the latest versions of conf files and find in older version of the file there is a line "AddVMOption - XX: MaxPermSize = 256 M" when I added this to the latest version, it worked.

  I forgot, I also remove these lines:

  AddVMOption - Dsun.locale.formatasdefault = true

  AddVMOption - Dorg.netbeans.CLIHandler.server = false

  I downloaded sqldeveloper - 4.0.3.16.84 - 64.zip for 64-bit Windows x -zip file includes the JDK 7

  unziped the file, but when I click on sqldeveloper.exe, a window will open and ask is it checked to work... I click on the run button, but nothing will open.

  Try to open a CMD console window and execution of the sqldeveloper.exe in the file sqldeveloper\sqldeveloper\bin directly from there. Maybe some useful error messages will be displayed in the console. This behavior may be due to the lack of write access to the user profile folder - possibly some administrative rules in the way, or it is on a network drive, etc.

  If this is the case, and write rights can be obtained easily, you can always force user settings in another location by adding the following in the sqldeveloper.conf file in the bin directory...

  AddVMOption - Dide.user.dir = path-to-some-writable-folder

  Leave connection type as ' basic' and instead of 'SID', supply "service name".  If you go this route, you will need to provide the correct host name and port.  You can get the values of what you saw when you made "tnsping.

  I am trying to connect to SQL Server with the new version. I have the jtds 1.3 installed and get the configuration of SQL Server tab, but once more to get the infamous SSO error trying to connect:

  Discovered this problem (thanks to Jeff Smith!). I had a 32-bit DLL in the path that are in conflict with the 64 bit one. Once I deleted all of the extra 32-bit versions, the SSO authentication works.

  I played a little bit:

  I also tested with 4.1.873 (ai2) and our current version and I was not able to reproduce.

  Here's a possible scenario leading to bad dl_settings in Design open to your colleague:

  (1) types of data system directory is not set (default datamodeler\datamodeler\types directory is used) - IE is not versioned

  (2) dl_settings are defined as global settings

  (3) to the other workstation - after

  Update 3.1 and

  3.2 opening design.

  3.3 DM see dl_settings are global and

  reload them 3.4 data types directory system - at this stage of the older settings will be loaded.

  The best way to fix this is to erase the global flag (on your computer) and commit the changes, then your colleague can update again.
