AIR 16 practically unusable for iOS

We develop games Mobile platform iOS/Android.

Apple has recently updated its policy to deny new applications without the support of arm64, we decided to make a quick change to AIR SDK 16 in all ongoing projects.

But as you already planned, there has been a serious * PAIN *.

Too much trouble that cannot be dealt with by our side.

Internal reconstruction native extensions to include symbols arm64 was almost nothing compared to the following problems:

1 applications with native extension's ios will crash on iOS devices 7 64-bit. No work around available except throw all native extensions.

Obviously not an option, as all our products are free-to-play games with in-app purchase. Crash report is not against the native extension code defects.

A quarter of iOS users are still using iOS 7 - we just can't throw away them.

2. There will be a weird behavior with TextField mode iOS landscape 8 devices. iOS text Magnifier will be strange and uncoordinated limitations.

Although the user will be able to enter text with the software keyboard, they can actually copy and paste in (or) TextField.

When these issues will be fixed? We are actually forced to use AIR 16 but cannot ignore these critical bugs.

These issues are not yet addressed in AIR beta 17!

Thank you for reporting the issue. Could you please recheck question 1 you mentioned. This problem has been fixed in the latest beta. Other users have confirmed that the problem has been resolved.

    I tried with the attached draft you shared.

    If this problem could be solved if you add images to your project.

    Please try the application after giving the images of the launch of the publication. The application will launch in full-screen and there will be no black bands if you have already configured the 'true' parameter in app.xml.

    The problem is not of Application Loader or iTunes Connect as when I open again the .fla and check the window 'AIR for iOS parameters' he continues to display the 1.0 version over and over again. If Flash isn't that save the .xml file.

    There are two different values, the build number and version number. If you use a test flight, you can submit an update without obtaining a review by increasing the build number. If you are submitting an update to an application in iTunesConnect, you must increment the version number.

  • Flash cc could not play video when I change target air 17 for IOS.

    I think it is because you are using a component FLVPlayback stripped, which involves an external file that has code, and which is not allowed in the iOS. Either your H.264 video, which works in Flash player, but not in the iOS.

    If you play FLV, try to adjust the skin of the component to zero, see if the video will be displayed.

    When it is run on the simulator of the Air, it works very well as expectedand the file is successfully downloaded to the server. But when run on iOS devices (in my case, iPad), as I explained at the beginning, no event on the file upload handler is executed and not the http request has even hit the server. So I think that the problem may come from the client side.

    During my attempt to solve the problem, I found something complicated about this problem on iOS7. In other words, if you call the URLLoader.load method (although the URLLoader.load points to an address non-existed) before calling the File.upload method, the File.upload will work as expected on iOS7. Specifically, when the above OnTrickyButtonPressed method is run before the OnUploadButtonPressedmethod, File.upload will succeed on iOS7. But this only happens on iOS7. On iOS8, File.upload still refuses to work, regardless of knowing if the URLLoader.load is executed before.

    I think in my case, the problem is not the problem of sandbox or a session of Firefox problem described in the two links below, because not even a http request hit the side server. It seems that the Air SDK for iOS comes to fail send the http reason request any.

    To make my problem clear, I list my environment below:

    • Development environment: Windows7 (64-bit) / Mac os 10.9.4 (tested on both OS platforms.)
    • IDE: Flash Builder 4.7
    • Air SDK: 3.8 / 16.0.0 (after that I have updated to the latest Air SDK 16.0.0, problem persists.)
    • Application server: Tomcat7 + spring

    Finally, I want to mention that download the file using URLLoader.load isn't an option in my case because I want to download large files in the future, which cannot be addressed with the URLLoader.load.

    I struggled with this for days. If I really appreciate it if anyone has an idea about this.

    The command-line ADT package for iOS fails when I add the two '-Yes hideAneLibSymbols ' and '-useLegacyAOT no ' and if it also contains the native extensions of .ane, which have been updated to support iOS arm64.   • Loading of local swf files with actionscript on air for iOS

    I apologize if this seems like it has already been asked, but I'm not sure that having understood the answer, not on the Adobe site, or elsehwere.

    I am developing an app for iOS, targeting the last 3.9 SDK

    I have a main swf file that loads the local swf files. These local swf files have code actionscript in them. I use Flash Professional CS6.

    I publish the application successfully and everything's fine. When I start the app on the iPad, is the main swf and all is well. When I click on the button that loads the local SWF files, nothing happens. They are not loaded.

    It seems that this has been answered, but I'm losing my mind. I don't know what the problem is. I know that, in version 3.9 Air, it is now possible to load local SWF files are actionscript.

    Air for the Android version works perfectly with these local files loaded and unloaded like a charm.

    from the air, 3.6, you can load swf with actionscript and that run actionscript.  before 3.6 air that was not allowed (without additional work).

    To enable the option of the sampler, you need to put it in the publication settings dialog box. Open the settings dialog box post and select the option 'Enable detailed telemetry' under the section advanced for the Flash (.swf) option. Now, you will find the telemetry option to activate sampler activated in the AIR for iOS dialogue.

  • How do external swf garbage collector in the Air for iOS?

    My app uses a lot of external SWF (although they are actually included in the application with a file, but they are not shipped) and does not contain any bitmapdata, only of vector graphics. The problem I have is that they seem to never be garbage collected and System. privateMemory continues to increase while the application loads more SWFs.

    As sovereign wealth funds contain vector graphics, I cancel all just all the variables that are now the reference to the SWF file and call it system.GC()... But it doesn't seem to work. What should I do for the garbage collector to clean sovereign wealth funds?

    I use Air for iOS 3.5.0.1060 and ActionScript3.0.


    Ago - I found that they are not always collected garbage when you expect to be. It is not that they are "missed" just AIR decides to wait before waste collection. I found that continuous application to run they will eventually be garbage collected at the same time very unpredictable, as long as you don't have really any remaining reference for them.

  • How to reduce the suttering in Air for iOS GPU mode?

    Currently, my game runs at 60 fps on iPad 2 and has no problem concerning the rendering speed, but I'm rather annoyed by a constant stutter that causes the game to stop for 0.1 to 0.5 sec from time to time. The stuttering behavior is similar to when the garbage man is run and I assumed this is casued in Exchange for GPU memory as my game uses a lot of bitmapdata.

    Problem is that my game goes one scene to another scene seamlessly without stopping animations in the game screen leaving old-fashioned scene slide off the screen and new stage sliding in. There is therefore not the time to preload/precache active graphics used in the new scene. After various scenes of transiting a few times, the game starts stuttering trying to show new images.

    My game works fine without stuttering on old PC but on iPad 2 is quite obvious. Could someone tell me some tips to reduce stuttering when using Air for iOS? In the game, all vector graphics are drawn pre bitmapdata (so no vector graphics are shown) and the size of the active graphics that each scene is approximately 2048 * 1024 pixels. There are about 10 scenes. In addition to this, there are ways to graph common interface that are used in every scene and the size is about 30 x 400 * 400 pixels.

    I know that the game uses a lot of graphics resources. What makes the game preloads the assets before transiting to a new scene will eliminate stutter but I want to see if I can keep the scene transition seamless on iOS again.

    I am currently using Air3.5 + Flash CS6.

    * I mean cached prior/preloading displaying actually (addChild and visible = true) on stage and make time for GPU cache. All the graphics data is already loaded.

    Have you tried playing with the StageQuality class? Setting to 'low' solved my problem of rotation and orientation screen bumpy...

    I've developed an application with Air 3.4 for IOS and it seems that the iPhone 5 automatically centers the application using the settings of the iPhone 4 960 x 640, rather than 1136 x 640. Is this correct? I have full-screen enabled in the settings of my 3.4 Air.

    If you include the splash [email protected] image, which would be a 640 x 1136 (your boot of landscape image rotates 90 degrees), it is enough for the iPhone 5 knowledge to fill the entire screen.

    However, if you have downloaded the app to iTunesConnect then, it would probably fail. This is because the standard AIR 3.4 ADT.jar file does not use iOS SDK 6.0. You can move using AIR 3.5 (http://www.adobe.com/devnet/air/air-sdk-download.html), or by getting the patched the ADT.jar file version (see this thread: http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1073656, in particular the "correct" answer upward).

    Once you have built with either 3.5 air, or used the ADT.jar of AIR 3.4 patched version, and you have the picture of [email protected] included, everything should be good.
