I tried a reset, but that did not work.

- reset
- Search again---> new available updates updates---> installed
- reset!

Not done prior backup of phone to date. And have not tried to make a backup and restore again. Has been hoping a solution faster or better (and also wanted to report this problem).

Have you tried a forced reboot. Hold down the home and Sleep/Wake buttons simultaneously for about 15-20 seconds , until the Apple logo appears. Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it rises. You won't lose anything.
