8770w: hp elitebook 8770w warranty
Hi all!
I had a 8770w has last week, still under warranty hp. If I want to improve the memory, I have to disassemble the laptop. A hp technician told me that if I do this, the laptop will lose the guarantee of hp. Is this fair? So how could I upgradde memory? Call the technician on site?
Please give me the answer. Thank you very much!
1. guarantee is not void if you open Notepad and improve memory yourself as long as there is no damage to the unit
2. If you want to contact HP and then ask HP Certified Engineer doing the same thing, this can be done as well

I have a serious problem with my EliteBook 2760p!
About two months ago, my EliteBook had a disk failure hard and after more than two weeks of control and test.
the hard drive has been replaced, and I received my EliteBook return.
I immediately saw that the previously installed Windows 7 with Croatian language pack and MS Office starter edition
has been replaced with an English version of Windows 7 without the starter edition of MS Office.
I also noticed that my EliteBook was significantly slower than it was before the change of hard disk!
This situation was unacceptable, and I took my EliteBook serving for additional repairs.
The gentleman of the function COS ZEL in Zagreb took a week or so more to test and verify everything
out and then he said that "they are not the error I described, and I can now pick up my EliteBook.My EliteBook is always in this State and is considerably slower than it used to be!
Even more, the screen does not "flip" when I turn. In addition, the buttons at the bottom of the screen,
do not work.I would like to know where I can go do my EliteBook restored to the exact state as I initially have bougth inside
or be replaced by the new EliteBook under warranty because this state my EliteBook is online is not
acceptable or feasible.Kind regards

I have not found a similar case in this forum.
I have an EliteBook 8770w, that I just rebuilt, new business of Win7 64 bit. The problem is that I did not find the HARD drive (500 GB) principal. I just have the ability to install software O.S. years in the SDS (SDS Samsung 804 series). Now, I have just 111 GB (total), just as I had no HARD drive.
Whole issue of Bios that I missed before or after the reconstruction of the machine?
I would be grateful if someone could help me.

Hello, I recently bought an elitebook 8770w (LY562ET #ABU) and use it to write music. I was think Purchasing UAD 2 satellite firewire to use with my DAW, but do not know if it is compatible with my Elitebook. The satellite UAD2 has 400 and firewire 1394 slots in the rear that are compatible with Firewire 800. I was wondering if you could tell me whether or not my Elitebook would be able to connect to the satellite? because I read somewhere that a similar Elitebook model wasn't compatible 800 firewire.

The firewire port is on the right of this photo, and it looks like standard firewire400 for me. There is an Expresscard 54 expansion slot, and you can use an ExpressCard firewire800 to establish the connection. In other words, if you have firewire 800. I gather firewire 400 will also work and there is cable adapter to connect any type of firewire 400 buses to a firewire 800 connection. In other words, I think you can connect the camera to the laptop with a cable. If you can post a photo of the FireWire on your device, I can find you an adapter cable. Here is an ExpressCard for you give a 800 firewire if you absolutely must have that:

EliteBook 8770w: Windows 10_Code 28_base system device
I installed an update of Windows 10.
I used the HP Softpaq Download Manager to install all the drivers available for WIndows 10. The following drivers are installed:
Device Manager indicates a device system due to error (code 28).
After trying everything I'm kind of desperate. I would be very grateful for any help.

I tried to clean my laptop and reinstall Windows 7 Prof
I bought the laptop with standard HARD disk and a professional editing an SSD immediately. It migrated everything and changed this specific ssd and so on.
Now, I want to renew the win7, but:
1. the HP restore does not work. Don't know why?
2. I want to install a win7 disc now, but where will I get the right drivers and so on?
How can I do exactly?
It will work like this:
(a) install win7 disc
(b) install hp support assistant
(c) leave SA HP find all drivers?
If not, how should I do this? I have all the original HP discs, so I don't know how to get all the necessary drivers for my laptop.

Scanner HP Elitebook 8770w fingerprint driver
The device is listed as working in the Device Manager, but does not attend biometric devices or software SimplePass.
Windows 7 Enterprise 64-bit
The scanner appears as VFS491.
Currently installed driver is Validity Sensor v4.4.228.0
With the help of HP SimplePass Identity Protection v 7.1.5.9
Any ideas?
Using Version 7.0.1.1199 of the HP protect tools and 4.4.228.0 the Validity Sensor driver version I am now able to authenticate with a fingerprint. However nothing appears in the Panel-> biometric devices, the management should be done through tools of protection.

You may not use SAS (serial attached scsi) you need a SATA SSD and Yes, it works perfectly. If you are willing to spend a lot of money to get the best, I suggest a Samsung 840 Pro.

The spec Evo not quite as fast as the Pro, but one is very fast. In fact, it's really hard to go wrong with a SSD SATA-III.

You can improve your workstation to a network card Intel using ac 802.11.
Who would work is theIntel Networkcontroller AC3160.
The downside to this card is that you lose the feature WI - DI. Not streaming on a HD Smart TV. Personally, I would not lose this functionality. 802.11ac is not as wonderful as you think it is. It has its limits. 802.11ac, does not as easily as 802.11 g and 802.11n drill through walls.
Since your workstation is a 2012 model, there is no present whitelist in the BIOS to prevent upgrades.
A candidate wifi adapter that will be compatible with your workstation must have a mini PCIe interface.
There is no wifi m2 adapters that are compatible with your workstation, since there is no slot m2 on motherboard of your workstation.

EliteBook 8540p: HARD drive, out of warranty failure
Our laptop Elitebook 8540 P gives a terrible warning about the imminent demise of the hard drive.
Failure ID is 90F953-5B67SD-XD7U3A - 60A 503
Product ID is XT924UA #ABA
Capacity is 320 GB
So, looks like it's time to replace the HARD drive. I saved the document, making a system image and a repair disk. My question is, how do I proceed from here?
It would also be nice to know why the warnings are produced. Operation seems normal.

The warning is a good thing - in a bad situation. The hard drive is under surveillance and warning is always a heads-up before he finally dies on you, so you can get a backup.
You can buy a Mobile SATA Hard Drive to install and then start with your repair disk to restore the Image of detail. Just be sure to get a capacity at least equal as the 320 GB or more.

This is to inform you that all professional laptops HP Probooks as EliteBook have tighter security than the consumer models infact they do not produce ' stop codes ', the password cannot be derived from the serial number and the
code is stored in a memory not volatile to remove the cell RTC does not reset the password in this case.

- Please Contact HP Business Notebook of support they should be able to send a SMC.bin custom file that you can use to reset the password at startup.

I have experienced some weird behavior of my EliteBook 8540w twice in the day: during labour, the whole of windows (not only) crashed suddenly without any previous error message, the machine, stop completely and instantly, like someone would have turned off a light bulb. Can you please explain what is causing this weird behavior? Any cure? Please feel free to ask back in case you think that my question is not clear enough.

Like that sounds sudden questions as a potential problem of h/w. is the system on battery or plugged when closing occurs?
In addition, before opening a case of pension (these systems come with a 3 year warranty), I encourage you to make the updates of drivers and bios
Better, however, is to use the Softpaq Download Manager (www.hp.com/go/sdm) to install all the updates available and required for your systems. Just a word of warning only select and update h/w driver and BIOS (must be made independently of the other updates) with SDM, a great tool that does not do the WRONG thing

I suppose Yes but I'm not 100% sure and I can't comment on the HP policies which are different for different countries - the call itself could be free because HP has the number free of charge for many countries around the world. Simply contact the HP Support and discuss all the options available.

Edit - I just double checked with my resourses and what we found is that assistance chat/phone HP for class cases PCs should be free (even if your warranty period has expired). With the warranty expired only parts or services will be paid. Of course, if you want something dedicated, complicated or more special and not directly related to HP products (for example not issue of BIOS password or specific Microsoft product issue, for example), HP can offer, you paid services such as Smart Friend.
