Alienware 15 no power

Hello guys, I want to say my problem and see if you can help me.

So today I came home, tried to start my computer but nothing happened (no lights, no noise fan, nothing as he died), I did a quick search and found this problem was called no power problem, so I called support, after an hour and a half exposed, they said they couldn't help me because I'm not in the USA or the Canada (I live in Tbilisi, Georgia).

So, what can I do about my problem? (Alienware 15 R2)

P.S., The computer is still under warranty.

Ok

You can try to do a drain to everything first. To perform a drain of power supply, follow the steps below.

  1. Power the system off and unplug the power cord.
  2. Disconnect all external devices (mouse, keyboard, monitor, etc.)
  3. Disconnect the battery.
  4. Press and hold the power button for 1 minute.
  5. Connect the new and turn on the system.

Once that is done, try to test the battery only / AC adapter / CC only or both at the same time.

Check if the led on the AC adapter lights up when you plug in to the computer.

Finally, please follow this article as the last troubleshooting step.

Concerning the transfer of the warranty, the end date remains the original.

  • Need help for upgrade R2 of Alienware x 51: card graphics, RAM, power supply

Hi, about a year ago, I purchased the Alienware R2 x 51, and I want to improve.

Im a bit new to this so I need help, so I came on the forums.

Current form (these are the parts I want to improve):

    GeForce® GTX 745 with 4 GB of DDR3 memory

3.4 GHz Intel Core i7-4770 processor

    8 GB OF DDR3 MEMORY

You want to upgrade to these parts:

    GTX 960

    16 GB OF DDR3 MEMORY

    I'm not sure things:

-I don't know if I currently have a 330w power, I heard say that because I have the R2 version of the x 51 Alienware, I 330w power (but I'm not sure so if someone can help with this, or tell me how do I know if I have a 330w PSU)

-Ive seen someone use this card with his alienware x 51 and it worked perfectly and I was wondering if it would work with my alienware too

    www.Amazon.com/.../Ref=sr_1_5, qid = 1437994445 & sr = 8-5 & keywords = gtx + 960 + msi

    • This card will fit in my alienware x 51?
    • It will run smoothly?

-Last thing is I need help with the ram, I want to buy two 8 GB sticks and replace them with two 4 GB ones I currently have. I'm not sure which RAM should I get (if someone can help with this and leave a link) which is compatible with my x 51 alienware.

If you had something but the 645 GTX, GTX 745 or GTX 750 ti, you 330w POWER supply. The PSU is determined by what GPU, you, you no what revision. If you want to upgrade to the GTX 960 (the one you accessed is good), you must supply 330w (what I describe as a big black brick with an oval green LED). You probably have the 240w.

Most desktop DDR3 RAM should work with the X 51. Some will not be because they do not match (heat sink (?) too thick and rounded).

  • Area 51 - R2, choice of power supply?

    Hello

I'll buy a new Alienware Area 51 tonight. I decided to put one card video in for now and upgrade/add later.

On the Alienware website, it says that there 850w for a video card and 1500w for several video cards, but I can't choose to take.

If I buy a single video card, I can supply 1500w? Or is there a software in the Alienware to change power?

    Thank you for your reply,

    Antoine Bedaton

    DELL-Chris M
On the siteof USA, I choose food, but you must also choose the correct CPU for the power supply.

Well well, what do we have here Mr. M? This looks like something for me. Is the way to this Alienware to say than those who choose the Cpu Hotwell & "match" power supply - as if such a thing could even exist within our reality - until later, when the buyer prefers to upgrade to Bwell Cpu, their power will be, what exactly? Not approved?

A wiki article, operation / well are two processors of tdp of 140 watts. What could be the problem requiring different "options"? Why not make all power supply purchases of "approved"? I see no mention well v. Haswell requirements or revisions on Corsair ax1500i EVGA 1600 (or) Newegg or online, while D850EF-00, D1500EF-HU850EF-00-00 the site of 80Plus PlugLoadSoltions say 850/1500 have no change since their certifications 2 years ago. The search term ' Broadwell-E approved (or certified) power ' doesn't produce any meaningful information to the public, certainly from Intel. Facing no new Broadwell-E approved power supplies released at Computex 2016, asked how all overclockers took well to extreme overclocks of liquid nitrogen (LN2) at the Intel-sponsored by using "old Haswell" overclocking event power both strive for & then achieve these records of the world. Not that I'd buy it, but the Thermaltake 1500w titanium, unveiled at Computex last month, makes no mention of being Broadwell-E approved; a strange situation titanium now their coronation, ostensibly in free use at Computex to show itself

I smell something here, or here, something that falls on the advantage of the consumer in the future later when choosing operating cpu & 'box' in 'outdated' operation single power supply

I would like to label these types of non-descript as unacceptable antics for a particular reason: asked about Facebook to explain exactly what that ships inside the Area-51, the public is directed to the sales page area - 51.com. the screenshot of your above don't tell us anything about the hardware itself. When asked to point blank that ships inside new desktops Broadwell, Joe Olmsted declined to comment, has refused to help raise awareness about the most expensive non-descript present hardware options or not to this day. It's unbearable, given the outdated and ambiguous to the actual sales page, both CGI & text

If our points of sale, which are intended to evaluate the public of what they buy cannot come from Facebook where the question itself is removed from public display by employee Alien - RC (documented), cannot come from the sales Page, & cannot come from the Product Planner himself on Dell.com, what are we going to do Mr M, in order to better inform us about the material & its specifications? Are we to go it misleading error CGI & ambiguous text? Are you able to contact Alienware for a response & post their response to us here, in order to better inform the public what new operation v Broadwell supply means or can mean for the consumer, past present & future?

Knowledge in itself can help the buyer choose between 5820 k c. 6800 k for example, as a simple decision made scalability now when it's appropriate, or, in the event of the loss of scalability an opt - in operation now in the face of any literature or deliberate or business help in social media or other outlets to be informed, making the consumer that is unaware of a decision that had to be do now when it reasonably & affordable can. If I ask this question to the Technical Support Arena under my username, can I be guaranteed a timely response or will I ignored as is done in almost all of my technical questions it last year?

What makes well 850/1500 '? "than the 850/1500 only

Of some importance is the following: can u get the new 850w / 1500w numbers - if they exist - and if they do, please post them here for the public, so past operating & future buyers may have the "approved" Broadwell from manufacturer to purchase now or later. 850 buyers may like the 1500 later, perhaps accompanied by the warning not to install 800GY 'approved' 1500w operation, but only install 'new' well 1500

Is the safety of the products, EMC and environmental datasheet now obsolete?

Yes or no: can we expect a revised report of the compliance test for 'new Broadwell' approved psu?

Mr President, here & now is as good a time & place as any to make these distinctions, if they exist. The doubting Thomas is waiting with impatience the results of your research in these areas above & below

As all the previous Area-51 R2 buyers are the last people on Earth who still can not spend processor Broadwell-E due to no support Alienware a month after the debut of well, This is due to a 'no-Broadwell-E' authorized unsuited to the American system power?

If past operation of buyer power is sufficient to run well Finally, why are new buyers well requested option to a power of good, while the new buyers of Haswell are prohibited to?

If the power supply of the new buyer is not enough to run well Finally, why are new buyers Haswell prohibited access to it at the time of the purchase?

Why is well approved psu an element of equal access to all buyers & most of all, why is not backward compatible with the Hwell? Why two options of PSU & the only "best option"?

What are the documents will be produced - and when - announcing & confirming that all systems of eqwipped Hwell sold currently passed & future are also in fact approved material - & otherwise approved - why not

Can you provide a majority or all of the above, or should we stay on Facebook & Twitter?

    At your leisure...

    Oh. There is more

Please find & view the reference number of the new Aurora R5 850w, which is capable of powering of double - 300 watt cards & is far superior to the Area-51 850 watt who cannot supply double cards of 250 watts. There may be in the population of Area-51 owners who want to "pass" to Aurora R5 850 watt later in order to run double 250 watts or cards double 300 watt, without incurring the high cost of the 1500 watts

We would like to know if the 850 watt in Aurora is also Broadwell-E approved, in order to better integrate into a system if it is the fault of the owner - either by a X 99 micro-ATX card mother swap to Aurora - or simple plug & play in A-51, regardless of whether an operating system or. Compatibility seems in doubt

Is Aurora 850w approved by good: If so, why Yes... If not, why not

('we don't test Skylake R5 with good compatibility, no response from here ', I heard u say?)

Note: Aurora R5 is not "Skylake approved", or Hwell/well approved: it's just one power supply like any other we beings humans are you use to run an Intel High performance after 2013 & my little finger tells me that it is exactly the same one as it was still inside the Area-51, even now. The 850 in R5 should not have to be tested for compatibility with Hwell/well, he should just "be a known" as opposed to marked a "unknown" "untested". What kind of technology company can't know if their power is compatible with all Intel processors or not. Exactly. Google 'the great 2013 Haswell PSU compatibility list'. Transparency. The qwestion is not what what can he do inside the Aurora, but what can he do outside, like a stand-alone. Certainly, it has been tested both within the Aurora & A51 for full compatibility Sky-Hwell-well, to say or think otherwise is absurd

Option of the A51 Haswell 850/1500 before = compatible: Yes No as above

  • Replacement graphics Alienware x 51

Hello, I realized for the series Alienware X 51 power is VERY limited, and I was wondering if this graphics card:

would work in the R1 series.

You have a 330w PSU? If you do, it would be better to get a GTX 960.

If you do not have a block of 330w POWER but the 240w PSU, the best you can get is the ti GTX 750.

  • Alienware x 51

I bought my Alienware x 51 in 2013. Since then, he had questions where once it is plugged in it turns on and turns off, sequel and repeatedly, every second until it is unplugged. He is not able to start. This will be repeated for a few days and then will be fine for a few weeks and be unusable. Then repeat. Dell has sent two tech guys (who were both very nice) which replaced the map graphics and motherboard... does not solve it. Recently Dell asked me to send to their tech guys working on it. They sent back and it has been fixed, said... This was not... as soon as I plugged it it he went... off... on... off... They have once again, replace the card video but now reinstalled Windows 7. I called tech support to let them know that they had not fixed and they said they would have the lab trying to understand and to contact me within 24 to 48 hours. No one has contacted me...  Any ideas what might be the problem?

  • Replace the block to POWER Alienware

Hey guys, I bought an Alienware Aurora R4 in early 2012 and the PSU is at his last breath, there problems by giving enough power when you do pretty much anything, I get the screen flicker, pilots does not and PC plant, not ideal. I know that you might wonder how well do you know this and that, I spent the time to understand and it is indeed the PSU I used the software, I checked everything manually to see if it's fine. So with that I need a new power supply, I can get a replacement? Any other feeds work with the R4s wiring?

I would really like to hear something from maybe those who have upgraded to a better diet, I know there a good number of you who have done work on some Alienware cases. Thank you new guys and I hope to hear from some of you soon. PS sorry if this gets asked a lot I do not know this, but all the help I can get is very appreciated if.

the only one able to work with the harness business supply Aurora are the models 1000/1100/1200 w Area - 51 longer R1, but u lose a disc hard bay in the attempt because of the length. link included below, as well as most of the material of this forum swap. • Power Alienware 15 R2 delayed on

    Hi all

I have a problem with my brand new R2 of Alienware, when I arrived, he ran ok for the first day and then just stopped turning the next day... so they gave me a replacement :) and told me that I had a mother FRY... the problem is - I think the replacement is going down the same path, it turns very well on repeated use , but when I turn it on after 4 hours of non-use, there is a significant delay between me hitting power and no sign of life from the laptop... after like 5 seconds I start to hear the fans turning / or is it HARD?... anyway... I'm afraid one of these days I'll turn it on and it just will not... what could be the cause? should I send the rear unit?

I read somewhere that BIOS might be the cause, but mine is on the latest version of the driver, however I reinstalled the driver, nothing done... the other two possibilities that I have read is a defective power SUPPLY or the motherboard block...

    Can you please advice?

    Hello

Because of some updates to the Bios, it is a normal expected behavior during post for Alienware 15 R2 and R3 of 17.

You can also run a test of ePSA/diagnosis on the system, if you want to be sure that everything works well. Click here to see a Dell article that explains how to run this test. Let me know if you receive errors.

  • Alienware 15 - R2, brand new, AGA, after power cord

    Hi all

I just got last Friday my brand new Alienware 15 - R2 with AGA (Alienware graphics amplifier) and GTX 1070. All the work perfect, except the food. For some reason any after brick power play is connected after a few hours just unplug its self. Plug is still connected to the computer laptop but is jump light blue on the cord and laptop said to use more performance please plug power adapter when the adapter is connected.

For now the only solution is to unplug and plug it in again and the light and laptop power is back, could someone help? BIOS has been updated twice and is more recent, I swapped the power cable from the amplifier and did not help.

    UPDATE:

I found that I can play so long and everything seems to be ok until what I stopped game, power cord loses all power (the blue led turns off) and to get the power back to my power brick, I need to plug out and plug it into the wall.

OK, so the problem was solved when I replaced power :-) run all day on the new power brick and no problem.

  • Upgrade to power Alienware X 51

Can I supply the Alienware X from 51 to this? http://www.Amazon.com/Corsair-Builder-series-Watt-CX600/DP/B0092ML0OC/ref=cm_cd_ql_qh_dp_t

According to this message, it would be the best diet for her.

It is also an internal power source.

The largest power supply available for this computer is the AC adapter / CC 330W.

The NVIDIA GeForce GTX 760 isn't a card for the X 51 R1. If you want to upgrade your video card, that I recommend that upgrade you to one of them:

    NVIDIA AMD
    GeForce GT 545, 1 GB Radeon R9 270, 2 GB
    GeForce GTX 555, 1 GB
    GeForce GT 640, 1 GB
    GeForce GTX 645, 1 GB
    GeForce GTX 660, 1, 5 GB
    GeForce GTX 660Ti, 1, 5 GB
  • The Alienware X 51 R2, 970 GTX and power

    Hi all

I'll get straight to the point here.

Can the Alienware X 51 R2 run the 970 (stock) GTX?

    Must be downclocked to run?

Is 330W power enough for the 970 GTX?

    Thanks in advance

    Ray

Many people have the upgrade to the 970 fine GTX without too much effort (read: no downclocking) on their X 51 R2 with 330w POWER supply. You should be fine.

  • Alienware x 51 used to power up

My son has a 51 x and tried to change the processor to an i5. Now the computer wont power up. All what it will do is lights comes on for a second then it off back and won't do anything except its unplugged from the wall and plugged back. We have tried to put back in the old processor, but it does the same thing. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I called technical support, all I wanted was a schematic of the MOBO if I can find the pins to start my computer. I'm not "enter into a long history here because overall, it's irrelevant. But I will say that after 20 minutes with Tech #1, he sent me a PDF of the manual which is not a schematic representation of the MOBO, then it suggests that I'm getting a new chassis... what?

A new chassis, are you kidding me? On the outside I could (and it is a great power) need a new front Assembly of I/O. At that time, I asked for one and L2 or supervisor.
