• Firefox slows down for several minutes, as if (possibly), it seems "reoganise".

  Hello!

  Every once in a while, Firefox slows down a lot, the use of the CPU (for Firefox) exceeds to 95pct and there is a lot of drive actuvuty. Then after a minute or so, it starts again to normal.

  What does Firefox do? Is this normal/expected behavior? 'Help' Firefox if it needs to have something cleaned?

  Some quick ideas (in the order that I would try them):

  • Clear your cache. It is possible that some of your cache files are corrupt and Firefox chokes on them.
  • Try to disable the Flash plugin. My experience with Flash on Linux has been less than stellar, and I would not be surprised if it causes problems. If it turns out that the Flash is the issue, you should try grabbing the newest alpha/beta 10.2 and see if that fixes it.
  • Try to open Firefox in safe mode. Which will disable your extensions and many custom settings.
  • Try to start a new profile (be sure to keep the old). There could be something wrong with your current profile (which contains all user-specific data).

  It will obviously be a pain to test if it happens only once a day or two, but that's all I can think about. Best of luck, it attaches, and with a little luck, someone else will have a more specific patch.

  If you bought new when Vista is out and it's a brand name computer (Dell, HP, etc.), are you on your C: partition is only 19.5GBs?

• Update library items are slowing down for great site

  I'm working on a large site (several thousands of static pages). A large part of it is old and was created and edited in BBedit. We have now several "subsites" that were created by a provider using templates and library items in Dreamweaver. These subsites are the root of the main site and the folder templates exist at the same level as the root of the subsites. Not very clear? Here is an example.
  
  HTML is the root of our entire domain and is the site which I've set in Dreamweaver
  / html/templates/contain all models for all subsites
  / html/ukaliq/is 'root' for one of the sections
  
  Here's my problem. When we want to change a model or a library item, its usually not site wide. It generally refers to one of the sections, but Dreamweaver wants to check the entire site for cases where this template or library element is used. It takes an unbearably long time. I know that it is used only in the folder "ukaliq" but I can't tell Dreamweaver to only check this folder. I can? I tried to create a new site for each of the sections, but since they are not really subsites, it creates problems. These are: templates do not appear as part of the site (they have a higher level) and the subsite is really just one distinct and different from the main site. It cannot exist without links and the content of the main site. The root is not really root.

  My Vista OS slows down to about 15 minutes of logging. If I clean the registry, etc. I see a lot of files, namely .mdmp, .log, .wxi, .wer and .evm files. These occupy a lot of space and appear to be responsible for my computer slowing to a point where I have to wait about five minutes before I can click on my mouse again.

  Method 3: try to clear the history of the system

  Step 1: Clear TEMPORARY folder:

  a. click Start , type run in the start search box and press enter.
  b. type temp in the Run dialog box.
  c. delete all files in the temp folder.

  Step 2: Clear file folder:

  a. click Start , type run in the start search box and press enter.
  b. type folder in the Run dialog box.
  c. delete all the files in the folder %temp% .

  Step 3: Clear folder Prefetch:

  a. click Start , type run in the start search box and press enter.
  b. in the Prefetch folder, delete each entry, and then restart your pc.

• Satellite S500-10F - slowed down and need BIOS update

  Hello, I would like to know if anyone can help.

  I work for a Borough Council IT Department, so it is quite safe to say that I know a fair bit on THIS and the side material things. We had an about 12 laptops Toshiba Satellite S500 delivered, 11 x S500 - 11 c and 1 x S500-10F. As we do not yet support windows 7 so he must rebuild in Windows XP, install the drivers etc, and send them to schools.

  All S500 - 11 c were built and work without any problem at all. The only difference I see is that the model 10F doesn't have bluetooth so that the model 11 c. Model 10F take image ghost, created from the 11 c, but he likes to be restart every 5 minutes approximately and is extremely slow.

  So I rebuilt the model 10F using our licenses CD XP SP3 Microsoft and started to install drivers etc. When I installed the software of card reader Ricoh the laptop again slowed down (about 5 minutes to start Windows). I used to have a similar problem with a model on the A300 range and I've updated the BIOS which cured the problem. I downloaded the one and only BIOS update on the Toshiba site for the S500 and when I want intsaller, he returned with a message that says "this computer is is not supported.

  If someone at Toshiba can tell me where I can get an update of the BIOS that works for my S500-10F or indeed why my system slowed down to a snails pace after having installed the Ricoh card reader software I would be very grateful. I removed the software and now and disabled without success card reader devices.

  I can see for this Satellite Pro model 2 drivers are available. The second is O2Micro controller version 1.1.4.207 card reader.

• iCloud photo library stuck in an interminable loading which slows down and stops my entire network.

  Last month I've upgraded successfully to El Capitan. Since then, after choosing to automatically download and store my entire library to the cloud, the download process caused a lot of problems. First of all, I had to leave the laptop on day and night and connected to the internet to complete the download. He has almost completely downloaded (with several modem restarts because the massive data download accidents caused connectivity) but then I had a planned trip and had to shut down the process. I tried to start again when I arrived at my destination, but it seemed to have started the process everything again (see below where the progress bar is at the very beginning again when previously, it was almost completely to the end) and close network of my poor host several times AND he ate all my CPU activity slow down and even stop any other activity of the laptop. Finally, I had to leave the process altogether for the rest of my visit. When I returned home, I studied the problem and learned how to fix the library by pressing the command and Option keys when I turned on the photo program. Once, the process started all over again and this time, he showed an any number of items to download (there was less than 25 000 points before this download now it shows more than 26,000).

  

  Finally, I got it at the Apple Genius Bar, in the hope of a quick solution. He, even, fixed the library as well as a few other permissions by using Apple's Diagnostics. Everything seems to be working again, but the process had to start all over again for some reason any and he told me to connect the laptop to the modem via a cable and left running overnight until the process completed. I did it. The first night, I was happy. It seemed that 25% of the process had already been completed. At this rate, it wouldn't take another 4 days. He told me that when he gets in, he would never to do it again. HOWEVER, after the second night of leaving it night directly connected to the modem, I checked it this morning and it seems to have started all OVER AGAIN FROM THE BEGINNING! Still, he hangs up my entire network. I can't watch the Apple TV, or use my iPad for work or my iPhone to access and other plans. Currently, there seems to be a nightmare without end of download and spoil my network (and notice that there are now more 28 000 points).

  

  This is intolerable. I can't live in this endless loop of photos download crashing my network and slow down my programs. I understand that this is not a problem isolated to me. So, did anyone found one simple solution other than its use onedrive or flickr or another synchronization photo program?

  28 000 pictures takes a lot of time - it took me ten days to 7000 and whenever you try to 'fix' it do you it longer - I stopped mine during the day when I was home so it wouldn't screw up my internet access form other devices, defined the Mac not to go to sleep and turn anytime I don't have internet

  Basically, your choices are to turn it off and not use ICPL or use it and let him complete without constant interference and restart the process

  You get a slow down because you are filling the shape to your drawing with vectors and never cleaning. You need to publish periodically a drawing.graphics.clear () to clear all these vector lines. You can play with it, but as a simple solution, you can replace the line:

• Open my pictures slows down the entire computer

  I have a Windows XP computer that missed anything when I open my pictures. There are probably only 50 pictures in the file, but get the thumbnails to fill takes all means, making the computer unusable for 20 minutes approximately.

  Thanks for the return of the response.  You only experience this problem with your folder "my pictures"?   You ran analysis complete with your antivirus software and possibly some type of removal of malware?

  Try the steps below and let us know the status.

  In Windows Explorer, select 'Tools', then open "Folder Options".   From this window, select the "View" tab and check "not to put thumbnails cache.  When you reopen your file, it might take some time initially, but see if are able to open the folder quickly after it fills.

  Try a system restore BEFORE it starts and see if that returns things to normal and eliminates the problem. If the first attempt fails, try again using a restore point earlier. If you use Windows 7, see:http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/700-system-restore.html. If you are using Vista, see:http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-vista/using-windows-vista-system-restore/.   If this does not work, we will check your system and hard disk for corruption files and test your hard disk and RAM to make sure they work properly.  Follow these steps:

  Go to start / all programs / accessories / command prompt and right click on command prompt, and then click Run as administrator.

  Type sfc/scannow, go and let it run. It will scan and try to correct some of your system files. If all goes well he comes complete with no corruption, it could not repair (if it has these post of corruption here or try to analyze it to find the problem or files using http://support.microsoft.com/kb/928228).
