• InDesign encounter error when locking of objects on the master page

  I have CS5 and love it. But after the moving objects on my master page between the layers (don't ask me why, just thought it might be a good idea) I can't lock without blocking InDesign objects (Ctrl-L). He meets a mistake and locks upward. I use the Task Manager to shut down and start over. You are not allowed to move objects on the master page between the layers? Do I need my mouse slapped?

  What is the error?

  Why do you need to lock the object? It should be locked on normal pages? I was wondering.

  We need to see a screenshot of the page master and a document page, but it seems to me that you put the page marker in a primary text block. I don't think it will work. Markers must be in an ordinary setting which does not thread with something else. You can put other static text in the frame with the marker, however, if you wish.

• My navigation links on some pages and not on others. All bearings have a link page, in the master page.

  Layers. There is other content on top of your navigation. Even the transparent part of the other objects will block the mouse events to reach your NAV.

  At this point you probably just 'Layer 1' in the layers panel. Content on the layer 1 on the master page will always be behind the content on the layer 1 on the page to that master is applied.

  Create a 'layer 2' (which will be on top of the layer-1) and go to navigation. Now the navigation will be on top of the element on the layer 1 on your page and these elements will block are more mouse events to reach your NAV.

  This problem is usually caused when objects are located above the Navigation bar, so that you are unable to click on it.

  To resolve the issue:

  (1) open the master page with Muse

  (2) create a new layer using the layers panel

  (3) move the navigation bar at this new layer: select the navigation bar, click with the right button on it > go to layer

  4) to ensure that this new layer is on top

• Change the properties of the presence of an object on a Master Page

  Hello...

  Question: When I change the presence of a subform that resides on the Page1 (templates) of hidden (default) to visible, I only see on the first page of the form.

  ORT_Form.resolveNode("#pageSet[0]"). Page1.SubLock.presence = "visible";

  I set the visible Subform subform tab and then used the code above (changed to hidden) in the case of the initialization of the subforms.  This time, page 1 has been hidden and the rest were visible.

  I assumed that all parameters of the subform would be global across all form pages on the master page.  This does not work as I expected.

  To test yet... I placed a button next to the subform with the image on the Master Page, with the same code above.  I put the hidden and then subform when I tested, I could make the visible image by clicking on the button on each page.

  So, how I click a button and get this image to toggle the presence on all pages?

  Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.  This isn't a big deal and if it be eaten at the end of the day.  I just want to understand.

  The button works on the main Page because you work in the same context. You need only supply the full path to the object of the xfa.resolveNode statement... as you had in your original design.

• How to make an object on the master always appear in front on my pages?

  I can't seem to find a way to make an object on my master to always appear in front on my pages. I watched a video on lynda.com muse essentials and it says to select the master then select the object, then go to the tab object in the menu and select move to which I did and it just shows a greyed out layer1, on video, he showed moveto > master forefront

  You just need to move the content of your master page to the top layer of most in the layers panel. And the content of the pages of content in the other layers to be able to manage easily. This shoud keep the contents of the master page at the top.

• Menu on the master page.

  I have a question, I've done my menu on the master page and created all kinds of individual pages. Now, I want to be able to use the content in the site properties menu, so I could choose what is happening with my links page or after your visit. But because there are all the individual pages it reloads all the time and nothing happens. I hope I made clear what I mean and can someone tell me how to do it. So the objective is to have a menu on the master page, very simple just something like:

  In the properties of your site, you can set the styles of link. Select that box for visited italics and "BOLD" box for the assets.

  I had the following problem with an automated data merge document. He reads only the first row of cells in the document. That's what I did.

  On the master page, I made a layout with the folling containers. The diagram below is for 1 item.

  I copied the three containers on the page which resulted in the master page with 40 containers for each item.

  I went data merge and connected the TXT document to the first set of containers. InDesign reads the data and place it correctly. But Indesign doenst copy the data in the row of the cell in the following sets of containters. If I connect the document to the next set of containers that indesign don't bed that the data of the first line of the cell which results in a document that contains only the same data.

  I suspect what happens, that's what I described in my previous post, PARAGRAPH:

  If the merger on a standard page, static elements must be on the master page. The advantage with fusion on a master page is that data remain linked. The downside is that a page can contain variable data in the merged file.

• Cannot change the text in the Master Page

  I don't often work in InDesign.  I had created a template file for a book back in December 2011 (initially created in CS3).  I opened this file in CS6 today and did save as.  Now it's time to change a few things to customize for this new book.  So, I went into the Master Pages to tweak things.  But, I can't edit any text.  I can click on some pictures (not all), but no text is selectable or editable.  What in the world happened to my account?

  I have also returned for the final files for the book that I did in December (not the template file, the files of actual work).  Those who give me the same behavior.  Text that should be editable is not selectable.  Once again, some photos can be selected and moved, etc. but no text/text box.

  Is there a conversion that takes place opens a CS3 file to the CS6 which causes this?  How should I do?

  You can always open the objects individually using either the layers panel (which is been updated, too), or by clicking on the lock icon on the object itself (near the upper left corner).

  That said, you'll be happier if you cahng Evos preferences to allow selection of locked objects. This essentially restores the beahvior you are used to see - post is locked, but you can still select and put the content in a frame.

• Insert the Page without re - apply the Master Page

  Hi, using InDesign CS5, I try to insert a page after page 1 of a catalog without re - apply the master page to all pages that follow - is - possible? I have set up in the master that I would delete not instead of text boxes.

  Sorry, I know that this was not clear.

  When a page switch sides in the spread of the elements of the template that have been overridden, as blocks of text in which the text has been flowed, will be maintained, but the new position of the page also has main objects and these masters objects will all be there.   People in my office are calmly a new problem with some documents - if we want to edit a Master Page to a page item, we do our usual command-shift-click to remove the issue of the master. In the past, this would result in the element becomes editable. But now when we command-shift-click, InDesign creates a copy of this issue, that it sticks on top of the Master Page element. There seems to be no way to change or get rid of the issue of the Master Page.

  I tried different possibilities in the Pages menu, for example, by selecting the page in question and "unpin all objects of the master". No help there.

  Is the damaged document or have I missed something?

  Are there workarounds to accomplish twisties on a section of the footer of a master page without using an external .js file?

  I may try a road .jquery if I can't get HR to behave, but would like to just use the page master itself without other files.

  I finally got drop downs working inside a .hts which is then inside the .htt footer section.

  I discovered that the problems in the CSS I posted in the pictures above are attributable mainly from my own CSS problems.

  However, when I tried to add images twistie, bad new...

  Twisties are all or nothing in RoboHelp. You apply all the drop Downs or None.

  That won't work for us, since our footer is a background more dark.

  So I created my own downfall personalized stockings with jQuery and CSS.

  And they worked!

  Well well, mostly...

  Long story short: it has been a painful week and the other half, mostly spent trying to get this .hts of footer to the appearance and behavior of the way I want it too in my chm. I had to do a LOT of trial and error and additional testing to figure out something that works.

  Things I've learned:

  • Square pegs can go in the round holes with a lot of hammering and a lot of mess.
  • CHMS are old. They are not easier to work with when it comes to the use of styles. Many things are not taken in charge you can do in a normal browser.
  • Under the hood CHMS use IE 7, so you have to use CSS that matches that version.
  • You can work around some limitations that HR requires using methods and tool parts.
  • Use a repository. If you make a mistake or fall a path that you want to cancel or put on the shelf for later, you can do it easily. (I'm really happy that I did. I could come and go between my revisions and see what the code worked and which did not easily).
  • In a repository, use a test project that mimics your production project, including the folder structure, but on a much smaller scale you can do faster chm builds. (I got my footer to work Monday, but when I moved it into our real project, the footer did not work on CHMS in subfolders. So I had to build a workaround for this. I would have seen previously had I better imitated my directory structure.)
  • Don't get so sucked into approach that you neglect other tools or methods that might be simpler. (I spent a good amount of time trying to get HR drop downs working in HR footer when jQuery, once I figured how to make, provided a simpler approach.)

  By clicking on the small triangles in the bar of breakpoint on the layout page, which represent the masterpage breakpoints.

  MasterPage breakpoint are not automatically applied to layout pages, because the masterpages content can "break" so many different places that the content of your layout pages. Just think about 4 images now on the master page, which would have need of repositioning on smaller screen sizes and a simple text on layout, that does not need any breakpoint at all.

• How to edit a page that uses the layout of the master page?

  Hi I made a layout in the master page and its now on all pages, but I want on some pages of the stuff away but I can't edit this more or its not let me remove/resize or else its not let me I have just to see the layers I can turn their market but I there is no arrow I can click Open all that is inside.

  This is how works the master page. You cannot change the things that you put there on normal pages.
  On master pages, you should leave that parts of your layout which sholud look the same on each page. Other parts of the layout must be placed directly on the pages.
