• BlackBerry Smartphones WARNING: Do not wipe your Alpha Dev with early release BB10

  Just a quick warning,

  I had to spend BBID on my Dev Alpha running the latest alpha BB10.  The instructions inside BB10 advise you to do a security wipe.  DO NOT do this.

  Life Dev Alpha at the beginning, you can enter a problem when you have a secure erase.  This has caused your device is unusable, and you had to install drivers and force a debrick manually.  This trick WILL NOT work on the alpha version of BB10.

  With the Alpha BB10, make a secure erase deletes all your applications and access to these applications.  It also removes the options and settings screens.  It removes access to everything other than the browser.  Try to start the option screens in any method of causes a failure like the application options can not be found.  It stops also send USB signals, which means that the Device Manager / application loader can not detect a USB device at all.

  The application loader custom RIM will reject any connection USB with an unrecognizable PIN (your PIN is not passed when it is blocked like that).  This prevents the it to your Alpha Dev rewipe.  In addition, Blackberry Desktop Manager (who will recognize as a dead BB device) will attempt to reinstall the OS so that your Dev Alpha turns off.  However, as we know, the BDM cannot actually move to the BONE.  Which means that it will not work.

  I haven't checked with Dingle Bay to see if I can manually get the OS to an earlier version, but this is probably the only way to save your Alpha Dev with BB10 and a secure erase Insider.  Will post here updates as needed.  I have just this Chuck in a box and ignore it, but my 64 GB PB also died this week (out of battery power). I don't want to send "RIM" for repair, because they will out simply swap with a new stock, and I want to keep the data on the hard drive.  Because of the way that the battery works with the motherboard, make a backup is not easy with a dead battery.

• A selection of Alpha channel with the color of foreground fill layer

  This question is more theoretical, because I found a work around. On a layer, I have a gray color, that I sample, and it becomes the desired foreground color.

  I would like to fill a selection in an Alpha channel with this gray color.

  However, when I view the Alpha channel, my forground color is lost for black and white, I understand, because the Alpha channel is a grayscale image.

  But I'm able to taste a shade of gray to a foreground color, but how can I keep my chosen original Gray selected from a layer? The only way I know would be to make a new shade and then use it when I'm in the channels.

  Don't know what you're saying. Sampling the RGB would eventually produce the colors 'Sales', aynway. This apart, of course sampling one color produces 3 values for all 3 components that define the color that can be applied directly onto a single channel a sense or the other. If you must have an 'academic' way to fix, you need to associate mathematics channel as for example combining the Red layer with Alpha using calculations of the image or creating a separate channel which holds the light / gray value. However, if your swatch method works for you, I see no reason to geek. Sometimes simple, hacky techniques are most effective...

  You want alpha RIGHT in almost all cases. Avid, FCP, organization, AE and any other composition or editing app I've ever used prefer straight alphas.

  Create a custom template that is using, for example, QuickTime JPEG2000 and choose 32-bit like that.

  

  You'll find yourself with a straight alpha QT which will work properly in any application. If you multiplied before, then you must use the mark to make and to beware of the edges when compositing.

  Bug Synopsis: CTRL + SHIFT + Alpha shortcuts do not work in LabVIEW. In particular, CTRL + SHIFT + Z, CTRL + SHIFT + E and CTRL + SHIFT + S

  Test installation: 32-bit LV2012 with the patch of f1 running on Win7 64-bit inside a Parallels VM in OS X 10.8.1 8

  To sum up the tests, I tried:

  • Several different combinations LabVIEW, guest OS and host OS all fail, including:
  • • LV2012f1 32 and 64-bit and 32-bit LV2009
    • Win7 32 and 64-bit and Windows XP x 64
    • Parallels and Parallels 7 8
    • OS X 10.7 and 10.8
  • Capturing the keyboard to the virtual machine
  • Turn each keyboard setting possible on Parallels, guest and host
  • Reinstall the keyboard drivers
  • Connect a checked keyboard that works on a native Windows machine
  • LabVIEW.ini deleting and letting it regenerate
  • Remapping the shortcuts, for example, CTRL + SHIFT + E to CTRL + E - in this case, 'Show project' works, so this may indicate that it is a problem registering the shortened press, do not invoke the action itself.
  • Sending via the keystrokes on-screen keyboards of guest and host

  • Here's a kicker: CTRL + SHIFT + Alpha shortcuts work very well on other windows programs (I tried 4 different programs, including Chrome, Notepad ++, Paint.NET), but it does NOT work for VIPM with CTRL + SHIFT + C. This means that only two programs where there are CTRL + MAJ + Alpha bugs are both related to LabVIEW.
  • Here's a better: it is only CTRL + SHIFT + Alpha shortcuts with the prob - CTRL + SHIFT + 3 properly active / deactivates grid alignment and the "tools > Options > Menu shortcuts" will record any shortcut CTRL + MAJ + Non-alpha; He was not only meets the shortcuts CTRL + SHIFT + Alpha.

• Derivatives of Focus 50mm 1.8

  I love dabbling with astrophotography from time to time, and I would try my 50mm lens. But if I try to manual focus on something to infinity and then take a timelapse of the stars, I only usually get 5 or 6 pictures until my lens focus drifted infinite completely spent. Is this just a problem with this lens, or something is loose on mine?  I know that others who have used it to do this, so maybe I use it just wrong? Thank you.

  This sounds like something is mechanically loose inside the lens (gambling) and vibrations are enough to pass.

  When we focus catadioptric telescopes, the large primary mirror at the back of the telescope has done to move forward or backward along a deflector tube to focus the scope.  Since the large mirror can move, he can also "shift".  So this is a common problem of 'focus' and then start to use the framework to find that the mirror is installed and now is out of focus again.

  The technique to combat this is to deliberately take the fuzzy instrument, which brings the mirror too far "backward" and then reverse the development and push it forward so that it is evenly supported by below (so we always focus in the same direction.)  This means that the mirror is basically established and shouldn't move on us after achieve us focus.

  You can try the same technique with your 50mm lens.  Update the goal all way since infinitity until it hit the hard stop (which pulls back the elements of development) then go back and adjust very slowly until it comes back to focus (it pushes the lens before... but if the camera is pointed upwards it should remain "standing" and I hope that used to pass after a few clicks).

  Have a sloppy focus is not a good thing and normally I would say it needs to be repaired, but the lens is very good cheap and the cost of the service would almost certainly exceed the value of the lens (in other words, it's probably cheaper to buy just a new lens.)

  Basically, if space allows, use a longer lens with a wide aperture, you can get a relatively blur the background. To be more specific, consider your gears and the venue.

  Some basic facilities as a rebel with a 50mm F1.8 camera could do the work well for beginners. You may need to remove a little of the larger opening (f2.2 to f2.8) to get the best sharpness of the subject. If you are satisfied with the result of f1.8, then keep wide open.

  Get reasonably close to your target, which must be far enough away from the background. Experimenting with it to get the best result.

  I am buying an Alpha since early December of the Canada. I know this is supposed to be a forum of USA customer care but I can't find the same thing for the Canada.

  Long story short, I have real problems getting a response or the same service the customer among the support persons to Canada until now. Either I don't have answers to my questions at 1/2 or I do not even have the answers when I was told they would.

  No chance, I could order it from us and get it delivered here? Even if I pay extra for shipping.

  It's really frustrating and lasting for more than 4 months. In 4 months, I couldn't get a straight answer when the Alpha will be available again.

  You could get the steam engine which is the Alpha but with Steam OS.  You will need to provide your own keyboard and mouse, and the Windows operating system license, but maybe it's a solution.

  I use AE CS6 home and CC to work. I'm out to h264 with alpha channel to create a lower thirds for use in of Telestream Wirecast. I used to use only the queue rendering but now forced to use Media Encoder with no visible value to RGB + alpha. I'm on Windows 10 with a date limit.
