alternatives HyperTerminal in windows 7

How can I connect to another device via hyperterminal in windows 7.  I could easily connect XP to program the devices with which I work.  I can not find the network connection or hyperterminal anywhere... Help, please!

Hi ediegelman,

Welcome to the Microsoft Answers community.

HyperTerminal is not included in this version of Windows. There are several options that are discussed in the article below.

  • Need an alternative to hyperterminal for Windows 7

Microsoft has all the programs like hyperterminal serial data transfer?  I tried every way but hyperterminal is simply not the same thing in Windows 7 although I copied all the files from my XP computer.  I can't save the settings as I have before.  Now, I have to set up the connection each time before to collect my data.  This means more time, my client expects.  PuTTY I tried, but it did not work right.

Look at the response that has been updated here for detailed instructions:

It can solve your problem, it worked on my machine (Windows 7 64-bit).

  • HP Mini 1140NR Vivienne Tam: available alternative or upgrade to Windows XP from stock

Having obtained his computer BIOS password unlocked, she asked me if there was an alternative/upgrade to Windows XP that would go on the unit (HP Mini 1140NR Vivienne Tam Edition). Correctly, she heard that XP is no longer supported.

Somehow, I doubt that 10 Windows is running on the device and do not know if anyone has any success with another OS on this particular unit.

I tried a version of 'live' of LUBUNTU 16.04 a bootable USB key. However; It does not seem to start properly and also to present messages of needing a wireless driver that is missing.

Would appreciate any advice. The unit still works with XP (although there is no protection against viruses and is not easy to manage) and I don't want to make it unusable by playing with it without a reasonable chance of success.

    Hello;

Let me welcome you on the HP forums!

I read your post about an alternative to XP and wanted to help.

I'm not surprised Ubuntu 16.04 has problems on your PC - I've been running various Linux distributions for more than ten years, on a variety of desktop and laptop computers, and it has problems on my machines, as well.

My best guess is that no new Linux distribution will work on a computer laptop xp - era.  I have such a laptop and the latest version of Ubuntu that worked well was 8.04 - April 2008.  After that, they made changes to the kernel, and then later, changes in xorg, such that no new distributions would work well.  Finished restore XP and then later, the upgrade to Vista, then to Win7 - which worked very well!

Win10 is almost certainly NOT going to work, because it requires CPU features that were not widely available when the XP machines are out.  I tried it on two of my computers laptops xp - era and it would be not installed on one of them - but in all honesty, I also tried Win8 on both, and while that installed, it does not work well.

My suggestion for an alternative is Win7.  Even if Ms changed templates driver in Win7, they kept intact existing compatibility - that is why my computer laptop xp - era worked very well, even if it used xp video drivers, video drivers to no Win7.

Oh and once you get Win7 installed, download and install this to prevent MS to force an upgrade Win10 on you: RCMP | Never10

    Good luck

  • Alternatives to Windows Media Center

Microsoft has an alternative program to Windows Media Center?

Or even a non-microsoft program that is reliable?

    WMC is really terrible...

Bad reading, synchronization of lag issues, audio, high resource use, bad control layout and options... I'm pretty sick of being honest!

Whenever I want to watch a DVD I always think twice because I can't be bothered with glitch / and my fans having an adjustment of all 10 minutes!

Does anyone know of a good alternative to the WMC, you've used yourself or have been recommended?

I not looking for solutions to problems with WMC variants, just reliable ;)

    Thanks in advance!

  • I would like to go back to xp opperating system of my windows 7

I would like to go back to xp opperating system of my windows 7

The short answer is that you need to do an installation of Windows XP by booting from the XP CD and do a complete, 'new' install XP ofd. You must then install all the applications you want to use with it and all your user files (documents, photos, videos, music, & c).

It is a good guide to clean XP install. There are others.

    1. Depending on your needs, alternatives that removing Windows 7 - install XP system could better serve you:
    2. Run XP to 7's 'XP Mode '. Available only to users of Windows 7 Ultimate and professional.
    3. Launch XP 7 on a virtual machine. Usable by all using Sun Virtual Vox or VMware or similar.
    4. Set up a dual boot so that you can use a few times 7 and XP, others by starting the system that you need right here.

  • (Windows cannot configure this wireless connection. If you have enabled another program to manage this wireless connection, use that software.)

That is the message in the WINDOW of WIRELESS CONNECTION. I was using internet last night when I turned off computer. Booted up today and the message above is all I get. No internet. Where should I go from here? I tried to fix IT.

    Hi cjh44,

The error message can mean that your hardware manufacturer has provided you with its own software to wireless as an alternative configuration to Windows Wireless Auto-Configuration service.

I suggest you follow the steps below.

Use Windows to configure wireless settings
Step 1: Go to the start menu and select run
Step 2: Type ncpa.cpl, and then click OK to open the menu of the network connections
Step 3: Select your wireless service and choose the option change settings of this connection.
Step 4: Go to the wireless networks tab and check use Windows to configure my wireless network

    Launch Windows Zero Configuration
Step 5: go back to the start menu and select run
Step 6: Type % SystemRoot%\system32\services.msc/s, and then click OK
Step 7: Double-click the Wireless Auto Configuration option
Step 8: Then go to the startup type list and click Automatic. Click on apply to confirm the changes
Step 9: That's why click Start in the Service status section and then click OK to apply the changes.

    Hope this information is useful.

  • Windows Mail suddenly stopped to receive emails

I can send emails fine, but still get the tag number new Messages even if I know emails were sent to me. It worked fine for 3 years; This happened out of the blue.

After closing of Windows Mail, a box appears saying that Windows Mail has stopped working, says as he checks for solutions, while she will close the program, even if I just closed. Sometimes Windows Mail then will reopen, but usually another box appears titled Problem Reports and Solutions. He says that there was a problem with Windows Mail which caused the stoppage of work and suggest to download the most recent Windows updates, which I did, but it makes no difference.

    Bravo for your entry.

No response to your problem of Windows mail, just suggesting an alternative:

Download Windows Live Mail 2009: http://news.softpedia.com/news/Download-Windows-Live-Mail-2009-14-0-8089-0726-Update-119591.shtml

Windows Mail (WM) will coexist with Windows Live Mail (WLM)
When installing WLM, it will also automatically transfer all your data WM, i.e. contacts, emails, etc for WLM.
Just the WLM name as default e-mail client.
You can still use WM if you wish. It's still there.

P.S., WLM is supposed to be menat to replace WM. So, time to go? For the benefits of others looking for answers, please mark as answer suggestion if it solves your problem.

  • Change of the position of the context menu ALT - TAB (change active windows)

    Hi all

I would like to know if there is a way to move the position of the menu that appears when scroll you through the windows when you press ALT + TAB. Currently, it appears in the center of the screen, but is it possible to move to, say, the left side of the screen? (The reason why I'm doing this is because unfortunately a part of the LCD screen is broken).

    Thank you!

There is no way I know to move the chart of Alt + Tab to another area of the screen to avoid a damaged screen area. You can try the alternative method of Windows key + Tab to see if it gives you results, you can work with that.

FWIW, the price of repair/replacement of a laptop screen went incredibly in the last year or two. If you think it's simply not worth replacing, you might want to investigate on what charge a reputed store to replace the screen or even do it yourself if you feel up to TI (there are many You Tube videos on the subject). If you think that the cost is half (or less) of what you expected already that it is.,.
