always on the vpn

Hi all

My cisco asa 5520 runs on worm asa 9.0 and my mobility anyconnect client is running 3.1

Understand that I can activate a feature called always 'on vpn"so that my pc client users can automatically establish the vpn, and I can also make use of a feature in"always on vpn"to prevent my users to disconnect from the vpn. To activate "always you vpn", do I need to download software cisco store profile editor? I need to turn on this feature we want to use vpn tunnels to secure the notebk. Pls advise. TIA!

Hi Don Li,

You can use the profile on the ASDM Editor, or download the standalone profile editor and do it on your local PC.

You can find the requirements and configuration on the following document.

OpenDNS umbrella VPN is inexpensive ($20 years OLD!), relatively fast, be online most of the time and is effective. The only problem is, as many have said, Apple provides no way to get the VPN settings.

Jailbreaking would provide tweaks to do this, but I don't want to go this way (although I feel that apple encourages this line).

  • readers of connection but the VPN network not showing

I have a couple of Windows machines that work very well, so I certainly have the correct information for VPN.

When I hit 'Connect', it does not seem to connect to the VPN with success and I can see the data traffic in both directions.

After that, I tried "Go to server" and if I navigate or enter the details of the server manually, it will not connect to network server actions.

I think I have the completely straight oblique lines around and I tried to add the username at the end of the address of the server, which is an SME.

    I put as follows

    SMB://server/folder/

    I also tried smb://server/folder/username

No joy. Can anyone help please?

    Thank you

Navigation uses Hello and Hello does not normally work through non-local connections, so it will not work on a VPN connection. It should be possible to connect through a VPN by using one of the following URL format in "connect to Server".

    AFP://192.168.1.10

    or

    AFP://fileserver.domain.com

AFP://fileserver.local will not work since it is reserved for the Hello that as I mentioned does not work over remote links.

Note: Not everyone gets their properly configured VPN system for searching DNS is possible that afp://fileserver.domain.com may also fail but the numeric address should work.

Note: Again according to the VPN configuration, they may need to define a static route and have failed to do so, it would break digital even answer, however if numeric address works for Windows, they must work for Macs.

It is always interesting to try to PING tests.

  • Why users need to disconnect and reconnect to the VPN to RDP?

Most of the time our VPN works perfectly, but sporadically users must reconnect to the VPN to use remote desktop. Is that the user can log on to the VPN and access to things like network drives, but not other features like RDP. If they disconnect and then reconnect to the VPN, poof, everything works fine. No matter if it is minutes or hours in the VPN connection, it still requires reconnection. It seems that it is always on the second attempt at the nick of this post point called 'the second time's a charm

We are using RRAS in SBS 2008 and the problem is multiple users tempting to VPN in XP and Win7 machines. We replaced the switches (now using Dell Powerconnects) and the router (now using Cisco RV042) and the problem persists.

Suggestions or responses are greatly appreciated.

  • We have laptops in the field who use VPN to connect. How can I get these systems to update our DNS when they connect to the VPN?

Our mobile sales are part of a domain but not connected to our network. Cached credentials are used to connect outside the office. Once they connect and view their desktops, they select the card from Verizon and use it to connect to our network via a VPN connection. These generally to enter an IP address but the router that connects and not from our DHCP server. This usually means that updates to our DNS servers are not always instantaneous (or update at all).

When they are done for the day, they just closed the lid of the laptop and he starts in mode 'sleep'. The next day, they open the lid and no lgin is necessary, but they do not need to reconnect to the VPN through their cards from Verizon.  How can I configure my DNS to update more frequently or maybe these computers portable bécon a command "ipconfig/registerdns"?

We have to connect to these systems in the field and it is almost impossible, unless we call the sales person and ask them their IP. We have more than 350 laptops in the field, then this makes it almost impossible to update all the.

    Hello

Your question is more complex than what is generally answered in the Microsoft Answers forums. It is better suited for Windows XP on Technet. Please post your question in the Technet forums. You can follow the link to your question:

  • Should I change ip of the router if I use the vpn - RV110W

    Hello:

My RV110W ip address is 192.168.1.2. Now, I add a line to vpn clinet adjustment table. When I put the button Save page displays "to ensure the functionality.the good router need to change its ip address to 10.x.x.1. So. I need to know should I change ip of the router 10.x.x.1 order to use the VPN? It is very embarrassing because my devices are all set to the range of 192.168.1.x.

    Hello

I'm sorry that you're having problems with your device.

You are right, the router will force you to change the IP address when you try to date a new VPN user, if he always uses the IP address 192.168.1.X, in order to avoid problems when people connect remotely like this subnet is the most used, and if someone tries to connect remotely by using the 192.168.1.X subnet, then the connection will be rejected.

Now, you don't really have to change if you don't want (I have no advice as the function is there for a reason and most likely you will have problems with the connection of users on the same subnet).

What you can do is change the IP address that you want, create all VPN users and then change the IP address to you, this way you fool the router and you can keep your current IP address (even once, this is not recommended)

I hope that was helpful, please let us know help.

  • What determines the performance of the VPN?

    Greetings from the guru,

In fact, what determines especially lan-to-lan, VPN, performance/speed? Is - this physical bandwidth of each side or there at - it specific settings on the devices somewhere?

The reason why I ask is because I'm about to sign a new contract internet for my corp office where I host services, such as an Email/AV/database for my remote offices. I can increase my speed 30Mbps or 50Mbps and the price difference is not much so if it will help my vpn tunnels, that I'm all for it, but maybe it's null?

    Here is my configuration:

    • Corp. office: ASA5510 with 20/20Mbps internet
    • Remote 17: RV325 with 15/3Mbps internet

The internet provider up all my remote offices is on the same basis of provider and I have between them decent response time (on average 30ms). I used to have a 7Mbps on the copper lines before moving to Metro Ethernet to my office for Corp. and the difference between that and the 20Mbps was considerable, but with 2 different technologies I don't know if I'll actually see a performance difference between 50Mbps and 30Mbps but would appreciate your thoughts.

    Thanks in advance!

Unless the devices are not the factor limiting (the ASA 5510 is not for 20/20) it's mainly the bandwidth of the provider connection which limits the flow VPN.

More bandwidth is almost always a good idea, but if the bandwidth is not the limit, then there is no seam.

I would first install a monitoring (like Paessler PRTG) solution and monitor the use of the VPN and the external interface of the ASA. So you see what is the probability that the external additional bandwidth will help you.

  • The VPN client user authentication

When users connect to our network remotely via VPN user name field is already filled with the last person who logged. I know that they just delete the username and enter their own, but is there a way the client can be configured to where the username field will be always empty for all those who want access to the network via VPN? We have an ASA 5510 with version 7.0 (8) and a windows 2003 with IAS server for windows authentication. Thank you!

    Hello

In FCP, you can configure a single line is not editable by the user (or the vpn client).

Simply insert an attack! Like this

    ! Username =

    ! SaveUserPassword = 0

    ! UserPassword =

    ! enc_UserPassword =

Subsequently the vpn client will not save registrations for these settings more.

  • I have a problem with the VPN work is not on the computer.

Hello, I have a VPN from windows running between two computers running Windows 7.  Recently it has stopped working, I can always correctly connect to the VPN and ping ip VPN but my mapped drives now say

"An error occurred when connecting Z: to."
    \\blahblah\blah
Microsoft Windows network: The network path was not found.

This connection has not been restored. "

There is no firewall or antivirus running, and I even resorted to a point of restoration a few days ago, when the network was working.

Original title: VPN doesn't work anymore

    Hi Justin,

I would have you post your query in the TechNet Forums because it caters to an audience of it professionals.

Your question would be more out there.

    Check out the link-

    Thank you.

  • The VPN Clients cannot Ping hosts

I'll include a post my config. I have clients that connect through the VPN tunnel on the 180.0.0.0/24 network, 192.168.1.0/24 is the main network for the office.

I can connect to the VPN, and I received a correct address assignment. I belive tunneling can be configured correctly in the aspect that I can always connect to the internet then on the VPN, but I can't ping all hosts on the 192.168.1.0 network. In the journal of the ASDM debugging, I see pings to the ASA, but no response is received on the client.

    6 February 21, 2013 21:54:26 180.0.0.1 53508 192.168.1.1 0 Built of ICMP incoming connections for faddr gaddr laddr 192.168.1.1/0 (christopher) 192.168.1.1/0 180.0.0.1/53508

Any help would be greatly appreciated, I'm currently presuring my CCNP so I would get a deeper understanding of how to resolve these issues.

    Hello

-be sure that the destination host 192.168.1.x has a route towards 180.0.0.0 by the ASA gateway.

    -Configure the following figure:

capture capin interface inside match icmp 192.168.1.x host 180.0.0.x

capture ASP asp type - drop all

then make a continuous ping and get 'show capin cap' and 'asp cap.

-then check the ping, the 'encrypted' counter is increasing in the VPN client statistics

I would like to know about it, hope this helps

  • Help, please! Cannot access the web after connected to the VPN

    Hello

I'm a newbie on Cisco products.  I configured a Cisco ASA 5505 with VPN firewall.  However, I can't access the web after I connected to the remote IPSec VPN.  I also cannot connect to the bands using the intellectual property.  But I can connect to the internal servers in the office with no problems.

Here is my setup, can someone help please?  Thank you very much

    Hello

    Try adding the following commands

    permit same-security-traffic intra-interface

    NAT (outside) 1 192.168.1.96 255.255.255.240

Is there are always problems with VPN then I would maybe change VPN pool to anything other than something that comes into conflict with the LAN.

In this case, these configurations should do the trick

In order from top to bottom, they would do the following things

    • First remove the pool VPN and VPN configurations
    • Then remove the VPN pool
    • Remake of the VPN Pool with different network
    • Reattach the VPN pool for VPN configurations
    • Configure NAT0 to the new cluster of VPN
    • Remove the old line of the ACL of the configuration of NAT0

no access list inside_nat0_outbound extended permits all ip 192.168.1.96 255.255.255.240

Of course you also have the NAT configuration for VPN pools new Internet traffic

    NAT (outside) 1 192.168.2.0 255.255.255.0

  • Failures of intermittent connection to the VPN 3000 Concentrator

    Hello

I managed a VPN 300 hub that works with happiness for several years with no problems. All users are part of the same group and authenticate on a server RSA. We recently moved from Authentication Manager RSA RSA 7.1 Authentication Manager 6.1. Continuous everthing works well for several weeks, then at the beginning of this week we started having users intermittently failing to connect to the VPN. I don't know if this problem is related to our new server RSA, but we have other devices on the network that authenticate on it without any problem, so I guess the problem is with the Concentrator VPN itself.

When users fail they just get a generic error message 'Reason 427 completed peer connection'. Live event log shows "group = vpn, status = is not off duty" when their connection fails. Other times they connect normally and no error messages appear. There seems to be no real reason, sometimes your connection fails, but if you keep trying you will get eventually in [However it may take several attempts in the course of an hour or two until you succeed, or you can get immediately without a problem].

I don't think that it's a network problem, because I ran continuous for the hub and the RSA server pings while users are experiencing these problems and there are no drops.

Authentication RSA server monitor always shows that the user is authenticated successfully, the connection of users actually succeed or not. I'm tempted to reboot just the hub, but we have tunnels VPN site-to-site connected on it and I'm a little worried if it is faulty you can not come back at all.

Has anyone encountered this problem before?

    Thanks in advance

    Hi Graham,

My guess is that the new RSA server is slower to react, causing the Timeout vpn3000 sometimes - this would explain all the symptoms (nature intermitten's not in service, the success of logs on the server).

I don't have a vpn3k at hand to check, but I think that in the config server aaa where you set the ip address etc. of the RSA server, you can also set a time-out value - see if increasing this value help.

  • Unable to connect to the VPN server

    Hello

I'm on Sierra, iOS macOS 10 and Mac OS Server 5.2 (on a Mac mini).  (All dated September 21, 2016)

Because PPTP is no longer supported, I am trying to create L2TP.  Unfortunately, when I try to connect to the server, I get the error "the VPN server has failed. Please check the server address and try to reconnect. »

I do not think it is a problem of networking: back to my Mac is not enabled, the appropriate ports are transmission (UDP 500, 1701, 4500) and server says that the service is accessible.

When I check the logs from the server after a connection attempt, I find:

    21/09/16 21:08:09.994 raccoon [75993]: can't find configuration.

    21/09/16 21:08:13.285 raccoon [75993]: can't find configuration.

    21/09/16 21:08:16.578 raccoon [75993]: can't find configuration.

    21/09/16 21:08:19.884 raccoon [75993]: can't find configuration.

    Any suggestions?

Does anyone know where the configuration file is supposed to be on the server, so I can look at?

    Thanks for your help!

    Hi Rick,

-Check that the folder/etc/racoon exist and the folder contains psk.txt and racoon.conf.

    -Installed with the operating system.

For some reason Adobe any does always have the latest version of Adobe Reader on its download page. I suggest to use the internal update within Adobe Reader DC Auditor:
