"An unauthorized change was made to Windows.

I get a pop-up/notification saying "an unauthorized change was made to windows, you will be notified is more about changes to...". (something, lights). I got it for a while now, maybe a week or two. Never paid much attention to it, just let it slide. But now after rebooting my computer, it doesn't will not let me reach my desk, or do much. That just pops up and now I'm in safe mode, ask for directions on how to solve this problem. I tried Googling answers, but not being is not very "computer wise" I need some simple guidelines step by step on how to fix my problem. I read about how people ran this program, and I think it should help someone understand what is the question. If she is here;

Really weird... He simply disappeared after a day of non-use of the computer... I waited to respond to see if he's coming back, but it didn't. Anything else I should be concerned? It's gone, and my computer seems to be fine now.

  • Why my computer keep telling me that an unauthorized change was made to Windows?

Almost everytime I start my computer, I get to the login screen, connection & then I get an error indicating that an unauthorized change has been filed with Windows.  Then it gives me the ability to check online for more information.  I then close this window and restart the computer.  Most of the time, the error will return repeatedly until I'm able to get Windows to load.  I am the administrator on my computer & I did not any changes to Windows.  This has all started after I made my first backup of my files on my computer.

    Hi imlost29,

You may have to reactivate your copy of Windows Vista.

For more information, see the link below and follow the steps provided:
  • Error - an unauthorized change was made to Windows. Windows found a change which will result in limited Windows in Windows Vista functionality.

Original title: it says windows can not be real.

I think I had malware/a main recorder so I reinstalled Windows Vista yesterday and did some automatic updates of windows today. He said some updates have not been configured right, restored them, set up updates again, when it is connected, I had a completely black screen, and a box pops up saying, "an unauthorized change has occurred in Windows. Windows found a change which will result in limited Windows functionality. Use the link below to know how to repair Windows. He has an option "more online.' and then 'Close' option. I clicked on learn more online and the site tested my windows to see if it was authentic. He repeat that test was interrupted and takes me to a page to buy Windows 7. I used the disc that came with my computer when I got it. I can't do anything on my computer, it's just a black screen with the box to help, I can do something to fix this?

    You have some problems-

    (1) software license Service is not running

    (2) you have a Tamper of Auth Mod present (TTS error)

I suspect that this might have been caused by install you a new antivirus? (which one?)

If so, you need to uninstall and upgrade of Windows Vista SP 2 level of updates to Windows, and then reinstall your anti-virus again.

If it is not the anti-virus, it may be malicious, or any other program that you have installed 3 days before the problem appearing. Yet once again, uninstall the software and see if this removes the problem or try a system restore to about 6-10 days.

post back with details and another MGADiag report.

  • A popup saying "an unauthorized change was made for windows.

It gives me two options 'learn more online' or 'close '. When I click Close, my Windows restarts, making me to reconnect. When I click the other option, it sends me to a site that gives me the choice to buy Windows 7. I restarted my computer and now nothing but the pop-up appears. I can't access my toolbar or anything either. Help, please!

  • Receiving an unauthorized display was made to Windows and my system will not be validated.

When I turn on my laptop, I get a 'feature' pop-up. I say "more" AND THEN...

It says "an unauthorized change was made to the windows" I click on learn more. Then he said: 'try to validate' the page never finished trying to validate. I use firefox, but I can't use another browser, since I'm stuck in this process of learning more and an endless loop of postings that will not validate... help! did I mention that it's VISTA.

Do you by any chance use Avast?

  • "An unauthorized change has made for Windows".

I have a computer that is running Windows Vista Edition Home Premium x 64. When I start it, I get a prompt indicating:

    Activating Windows

"An unauthorized change has made for Windows".
"Windows found a change which will result in limited Windows functionality. Use the link below to know how to repair Windows.
When I click on 'Learn more online', it leads me to a page that runs a check to make sure that my copy of Windows is genuine. However, the audit only runs under Windows 7, according to the site, and after that it says verification failed, the computer tries to connect to the wide but remains stuck in a loop. When I force, start the computer, I do not get this prompt and all is well. I doubt he was everything I installed, because first of all it happened the second time I NEVER started this computer.

  • Unauthorized changes were made for Windows: download crippling update Microsoft Windows Defender

I read to post my report MGADiag here.  What he does? Is someone from Microsoft will sent me the equivalent antiparticle of this unauthorized change message and restore my computer to function?

My computer is (was, now it's a door stop), a Dell Vostro 1500, with a Vista Home Basic, Version 6 operating system. It has an Intel Core 2 Duo processor.
Reset on my computer now says it does not work. So, it's not a solution. I tried to scan/remove this "message", but since it seems that they have generated by Microsoft, security is not recognize it as a virus, (too bad). Reset did not help either.  I now work in Safe Mode, I ran the diagnostic and repair of this window with no change in the problem. I have discs with what seems to be my Vista OS and Drivers, so if Microsoft does not respond to the report of the Forum. I intend to throw out and replace my operating system. But, Hey! This date of security worth it.  A non-functional computer is about as safe as it can get, (laughs).

  • I have Windows Vista and I receive "an unauthorized display was made for Windows. What is c?

This does not happen every time, but I understand not often true.  It messes up the printer and it wont let me load all programs.

Something (malware?) has made changes to the operating system.

I would start by checking for malware

Please download the free version of Malwarebytes.
    Update immediately.
Do a full scan of the system
Let us know the results at the end.
