Andor Neo sCMOS and IMAQ

Dear all,

I currently work with an Andor Neo sCMOS and IMAQ camera to view the image. To get the pointer to the pixels of the image of the buffer, I use IMAQ GetImagePixelPtr as shown in the snapshot. And this pixel pointer and the imagesize (byte) is sent to the queue of buffer of the camera. But because of the transfer of the camera interface, each line of bytes must be divisible by 3, the total size of the byte transfer must also be divisible by 8. For example the Mono12Packed mode which is 1.5 bytes/pixel bytes/line is which is divisible by 3 for the imagesize 3840 3840 * 2160 rank = 8294400 bytes. Mono16 mode which is 2 bytes/pixel bytes/line is 5120 which is not divisible by 3, so the imagesize (5120 + 1) * 2160 rank = 11061360 bytes.

However, IMAQ GetImagePixelPtr function with width = 2560 pixels, height = 2160 pixels and an I16 picture (which is corresponding to the mode Mono16 because I use this mode only) is to give an imagesize 11059200 bytes (= 5120 * 2160). It is possible to do without GetImagePixelPtr and only to convert the table of buffer given by the camera to an Image, but the GetImagePixelPtr method is simpler.

Do you have any idea how to solve my problem

Thank you in advance

Hi mnemo15,

What is the value returned by the stripe width indicator?

What is the value returned by the indicator of the size of the pixels?

As you can see in the help of LabVIEW,'LineWidth (Pixels) returns the total number of pixels in a horizontal line of the image. It is the sum of the Resx to the image, the image borders and alignments of left and right of the image, as shown in the following figure. This number does not match the horizontal size of the image. »

  • DAqmx and IMAQ pallets do not appear in my palettes of LabVIEW 2011

    Hello

I use LabVIEW to my University via a Campus license since 2005. I installed it on several computers.

My problem is related to a new LabVIEW installation on a brand new computer.

I have the license Site LAbVIEW 2011 Academic just installed and validated (via the License Manager) in this new machine running 64-bit Windows Seven.

[I also installed the DAQmx and the "distribution of February 2011" IMAQ drivers (downloaded from OR) as well as the NI Vision Software (version for LabVIEW 2011, the same distribution as the LabVIEW 2011).]

I launched LabVIEW Ant checked to see if everything was there, specifically the DAQmx and IMAQ functions, since I have the cards OR to make the acquisition of data and images. Note that I have not yet installed these cards in the PC. I m going to do only when I would have ensured that all the software is ok.

The subpalette DAQmx in measurement of i/o functions palette is missing.

Also, if I'm looking for the NI-IMAQ subpalettes in the range of Vision and movement functions they also lack.

Notice that all other subpalettes in the range of functions of Vision and movement are OK and there appear (utility of Vision, Image Processing, Machine Vision, and Vision Express).

Then, I checked if the installed drivers are really there. For this I used the MAX or (measure explore), and it looks like it all everything is there.

I mean, under NI MAX > my system > software I can see these articles:

    NEITHER Vision TERM 2011

    NOR-IMAQ 4.5

    NOR-DAQmx... several entries

I checked if the forum or knowledge base in NOR have any clue on what to do, and I found somewhere by the idea of trying to fix the installation via the Windows 7 Control Panel > programs and resources > OR software.  I did this procedure twice, just in case...

I also tried to remove and reinstall all software (including drivers) and NO, I did it twice. The result is always the same.

    Any suggestions?

When you install the drivers, you include support for LabVIEW 2011?  If this isn't the case, you won't see the LabVIEW screw in your palettes even if the software is installed.  Normally I expect that the Setup program automatically adds this support, but he can't do it, especially if you have installed the drivers before installing LabVIEW.  See the image below:

  • Anyway to adjust the weight of a Coverstitch IMAQ and IMAQ Overlay line?

Is it possible to adjust the weight of a Point of recovery IMAQ?  I find it odd that this is not an option.

If you mean you want a greater 'dot' or more online, as it takes a bit of work, because this option is not built on the.

Instead of using the overlay point, use the the oval, then you can set the RADIUS want. or you can draw two lines (one vertical and one horizontal) crossing the coordinates of your point.

I know... It's a bit tedious, but that's all I have in stock.

  • use of display and IMAQ image memory

    Hello

I wonder how much memory is used when updating from imaq image display.

I need to display images (512 x 512 size) acquired by a camera in real time. But I don't necessarily need show each of them so that can save me some memory. The camera runs at 50 fps and I can live with display rate 5 frames per second.

Right now my image display is updated from the buffer (updated at 50 fps) continuous (Snapshot mode off). I guess I have 3 options:

1 use the lifestyle snapshot and say explicitly on the screen to update. Whenever the display is refreshed, a copy of the image is created. But I guess that the previous copy is destroyed at the next update. If this method costs an extra copy of the image in memory.

    2. create an extra copy of the image that is updated only at 5 fps and connect it to the display of the image (Snapshot mode off). I think this is equivalent to method 1, with respect to the use of the memory.

    3. in the State. No additional copies of the image is stored. But the display is updated at 50 fps.

Which is more expensive, update the display 10 times faster or holding an extra image even copy of the memory size?

    Thank you!

It is not really a memory problem: you have an indicator to display images. Display an image requires additional resources, but there is no continuous memory allocation! Once the resources are allocated, the use of the memory of your application will remain stable. (Otherwise, something goes wrong and need to be identified and fixed.)

  • Strange problem with the KING and IMAQ find right 3 edges

So first of all, I noticed that the KING produced by KING features seems to have an incompatibility with the entrance to find right IMAQ 3 edges:

In my code, I have the strange problem "IMAQ find right edges 3" is the production of edges that lie outside the limits by the wired KING specifided: "."

In this case, a return on investment, defined by a rectangle, I [476, 1559, 752, 1779], but the best line produced by VI shape is outside this rectangle (see ordered 1876).

    How is that possible?

I finally thought to it - it was my fault. I was updating the global rectangle in the KING entered correctly, but not the contours.

I fixed the wiring and now it works fine.

  • Extremely slow camera in MAX and the software response

I am in the process of upgrading from a piece of test equipment that uses two firewire cameras.

Currently, the software is written in LabVIEW 7.1, it uses NEITHER IMAQ and is quite catchy, with little perceptible delay in the passage between the cameras in the software. Same MAX opens up the cameras relatively quickly and you can turn on or take a few seconds of clicking cameras and quickly change between cameras.

Without changing the external hardware to the computer, but with a new windows 7 PC in place and update the software to use OR-IMAQdx simply by replacing the IMAQ works with IMAQdx in 2014 of LabVIEW and install the latest version of MAX led the software becomes unusually slow in the passage of the cameras. When I say exceptional, I mean that it takes up to 30 years to set up and run each camera. Bearing in mind that the vision process takes 0.5 seconds or less is unacceptable. It is just as painful changing between cameras in MAX.

I noticed that on another system that uses a camera USB 3, simply by clicking on the camera icon in MAX takes a LOT of time answering to allow you to do anything.

On the old windows PC with MAX 5 and IMAQ clicking a camera brings the dialog boxes fairly quickly.

Someone has an idea, what happens? Is it something IMAQdx? Of course, this is not normal?

    Can anyone offer advice please?

    Thank you

Your post, I shared with my colleague FireWire camera (which is out of town, but regularly check the email), and here's his reply:

Three cameras at 25 frames per second, with RGB channel separated because of the bandwidth.  We take avi and pngs simultaneously on several channels.  My suspicion is that their former Council might not be fully compliant with the standards. Not all the work of commissions, I tried a little on-site, then chose the one that is recommended by the seller.  In addition, no hubs as they can also stifle bandwidth.

    Hope it will be useful.

  • where the copy IMAQ?

We just installed Labview 2009 and the copy IMAQ function is missing. We have had a request from 8.6 to use it and now it seems to have disappeared. What happened, or what can be used instead?

    Thank you

    Bob

You must install the Vision Development Module, and IMAQ copy will come back.

  • Photo image variable (IMAQ)

I'm trying to convert a type 'image' in 'image type. The 'image' type comes from the Toolbox graphics & Sound and image type comes from the Vision and movement of Toolbox.

Writing in a jpg file and rereading such that an image is not an option.

The picuture is a color or similar XY trace.

As suggested at the forum, but not confirmed by everyone I tried to use the trio: Picture it Pixmap, Pixmap Unflatten and IMAQ ArrayToImage. Well, no error but when I tried to view it, nothing appears. To be fair, it displays the field once in black and white and never again. I tried to use all kinds of combination of the ports between Unflatten and IMAQ without a bit of luck.

I use LB 2009 SP1 and I'm somewhat familiar with the IMAQ stuff but I'm missing something here for sure. Y at - it a more detailed explanation of Unflatten Pixmap output ports and ports of entry of the IMAQ ArrayToImage?

    Thank you

The solution is... to read the small print. ArrayToImage IMAQ does not have colors.

When ArrayToColorImage IMAQ is used, everything is fine.

Confuse quite well. It would be nice to combine these two, or provide a better description.

  • IMAQ installed, but not found in LabView

    Ladies and gentlemen,

We have a 2012 faculty (student) University of LabView license and want to use a digital camera with Labview. LabView has been permitted, also installing IMAQ 4.6.4 produced any errors. It is recognized by the NI Measurement and Automation Explorer as you can see in the attached PDF file.

However, IMAQ features are not visible in the window function LabView and our VI test cannot find functions IMAQ (pages 5 and 6 of the attached PDF file.

We reinstalled twice, LabView makes sure the antivirus has been disabled. We have also tried to install another version of IMAQ (4.6.1), but with such problems as described above.

Today, I realized that we have a version of 64-bit Windows and LabView has 32 bits?

Thank you very much for your help.

Here's the most likely explanation of our problem: IMAQ 4.6.1 and IMAQ 4.6.4 are not compatible with LabView 2012:

  • 'Create a Subvi' movements labels (LV2013) IMAQ image controls

    Hello

I noticed a strange behavior in LV2013 (x 64 and x 86) what SubVIs creation from a selection containing Image IMAQ son:

The labels out of place of obtained characteristics Subvi on IMAQ controls/indicators, see the illustration below.

    This VI

is impaired by creating a Subvi for copying and masking as follows

The Subvi created has a façade that result that looks like this:

All labels on IMAQ orders/lights are completely irrelevant. I couldn't understand, what appears to be a function of the new position of the label. In any case, it is quite annoying, because labels sometimes moving out of the main visible portion of the public Service and you have to go and look for them (through the window). -You must identify all the labels with the command/indicator to put everything back in place.

One of my colleagues has confirmed this behavior on a different windows PC, using the same version of LV in x 64 and the same version of Windows 7 Pro)

Of course, a simple method of MoveToDefaultLocation on all PS elements cause they go where they are expected to be, but how tedious... I remember not such behaviour in LV2011 where I used 'Create Subvi' loads of times with IMAQ Vision functions.

I'd be happy if someone such color in it. Thank you very much.

Cleaning of façade create a Subvi is performed, but it's not explicitly change the position of the control and indicator labels. There seems to be a bug in VI server when setting the position of the refnums IMAQ. This bug is independent of the function to create a Subvi. When writing of the 'Position' of a refnum IMAQ control property, the label seems to throw himself in a weird position. I've not seen this with other types of control with other controls, their labels always remain in the same relative position when the control is moved.

I'll drop a CAR against the Position and IMAQ refnums property. In the meantime, you can use the VI attached to this post to solve the problem. Follow these steps in LabVIEW 2013 or later:

1 copy of the VI attached to the following location: [LabVIEW 20xx] \resource\plugins\CreateSubVI

    2. restart LabVIEW.

Once you have done, the position of the label IMAQ refnum to correct every time that you perform an operation to create a Subvi.

  • IMAQ vs NI Vision

Hello...  First of all a question about IMAQ...  I've seen many examples of LabVIEW which includes IMAQ VI...  What is necessary to own or buy to access these IMAQ vi?  Second, what is IMAQ versus NI Vision?  NEITHER Vision a more recent name for what was IMAQ or is it something else entirely?

I have a Developer Suite license and thanks to that I have many versions of LabVIEW Professional Developer Suite (PDS) LabVIEW through LabVIEW 2011 7 (does not have 2012).  But I don't have any specific modules vision/image...  All I really want to do is open a specific. TIF image and view this image on a LabVIEW front panel led.  Short of owning any IMAQ or NI Vision vi, made the main PDS provides the tools I need to do this simple task?

And again, I'm lost in the word soup.  What is IMAQ as compared or contrasted with NI Vision?

    Thanks bob...

    Hello Bob,

There is a lot of information to analyze through this question, let thus starts at the top.

NEITHER Vision is the platform of any vision that NEITHER has to offer. This can be broken down into two basic categories; Hardware and software. Hardware includes our smart cameras, Vision systems shipped, Frame Grabber cards (PCI, PXI, PCIe, SMU) and other material. The software can be decomposed into Vision Development Module (VDM) and the Vision Builder for Automated Inspection (VBAI). Sorry to throw in acronyms, but it will save some typing over the long term.

Vision Development Module, is the great global toolkit for LabVIEW Vision applications. The Vision Development Module includes several pieces of small software. These software include Machine Vision algorithms and several other pallets of treatment as well as the software of Acquisition Vision (SAV), which can be broken down into three additional parts. Here's where we come to the VI IMAQ, Vision Acquisition Software includes IMAQ IMAQ i/o and IMAQdx. IMAQ and IMAQ i/o are free software, and IMAQdx isn't.

    Here's a quick preview

    OR Vision

    • Hardware solutions
      • Smart cameras
      • Embedded Vision systems
      • PC and PXI systems
    • Software
      • Vision Builder for Automated Inspection
      • Vision Development module
        • Machine Vision algorithms
        • VI image treatment
        • Vision acquisition software
          • IMAQ (free)
          • IMAQ i/o (free)
          • IMAQdx (paid)

Now, as for your specific application the Vision Development Module is not included in the Suite of developers at least that specifically added to your package. However, you will be able to acquire and save an image with the base IMAQ VI.

IMAQ means Acquisition of Image and is a driver package for communications standards of different camera as well as several basic image manipulations. With the free IMAQ driver, you will have access to the VI listed in the knowledge base following.

The screws are installed with NOR-IMAQ and Acquisition of Vision Software?

    http://digital.NI.com/public.nsf/allkb/1c4ed6177ee566d68625794a007ba160?OpenDocument

You can download the latest version of IMAQ here:

    http://Joule.NI.com/nidu/CDs/view/p/ID/2758/lang/en

Alternatively, you can download a trial version of the software for Acquisition of Vision and then allow the functions of IMAQdx paid become invalid at the end of the trial period.

    http://sine.NI.com/NIPs/CDs/view/p/lang/en/NID/12892

Once you have the IMAQ VI installed you should be able to open the. TIF file and display it using the ReadFile.VI IMAQ and an indicator of the image.

I hope that clarifies the differences of our Vision, and how you can access to the. TIF file.

    See you soon,.

    Joel
