Using OSX 10.11.4

Once again, no Community logic on the list of options of this post too. Apology.

I reposted this request once the expected solution did not work.  I am repeatedly delete the same emails only to find many reappear and several times in the weeks after they have been deleted. I looked and changed that recommended such Mail preferences. I also used the "Clear deleted items" option on the mailbox, to try that, but emails are not permanently deleted it either.

I have a smartphone sync to be able to read emails, too. Could be the problem?

Thanks and appreciation for any help.

Assuming you are using Gmail, it has a strange behavior of default delete messages 3 times in order to make them disappear.

Please describe your settings in Mail to the behavior of the mailbox to the trash? (stored on the server, etc.)

Also in the sidebar, you should have your Gmail account listed. What a show of mailboxes there?

Under Archive, you count Gmail appears here, or if you have only this account, your gmail messages shows in Archive also?

E-mail settings, you also have the parameters to create in gmail. These parameters are crucial as to how it will behave in the Mail application. In addition, settings on other devices can affect this too. If you could provide some insight on the other settings of your device, which would also help.

Provide this info and we'll go from there.

I keep getting messages about low disk space - but I'm unable to remove the number of listed e-mails (delete the folder (4000)) then when I try to send my e-mail messages to the folder delete it adds to the already mentioned number.

    Assuming that Outlook Express...

    1. move all the messages you want to keep out folders, sent items and deleted items, and in other local OE folders you have created for archiving (backup) of such messages.

1B. move 99% of your messages in your Inbox folder to other folders the of OE, too.

    2. Note the location of the store of your identity (http://www.insideoe.com/files/store.htm#storemain).

2B. turn on "Show hidden folders and files" via start | Control Panel | Folder options | View (see http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/tutorial62.html).

    3. close OE.

    4. in Windows Explorer, navigate to your storage folder, find & remove Outbox.dbx, Sent Items.dbxand Deleted Items.dbxfile.

To avoid such problems in the future, comply with the following restrictions:

N ' not use Inbox or sent items to archive messages.  Move them to local folders created for this purpose.

-Empty the deleted items folder daily.

-Frequently perform a manual compact of all OE while records that "work offline".  More on http://www.insideoe.com/files/maintain.htm

-Do not cancel automatic compacting, where it would happen and do not try to close OE via Manager tasks or stop your Automatic compaction machine can take place.

    Hello

For two days, Apple mail displays various empty messages across multiple e-mail accounts.

  • Mailed - by-automatically delete the messages in the trash

I used to set my mail to automatically delete messages in the trash after a week. Since I upgraded my iBook to OS El Capitan (10.11.4 Version), I can't do that.  Why did change that?  I thought that new operating systems were supposed to make it easier, not harder.

It deletes messages immediately, or not at all? Open Mail preferences and verify the setting it. Do you have other devices with this email account? Have you tried to rebuild the trash?

  • Mail is always "Download Messages".

I noticed that Apple Mail is always "Download Messages".  This process will occur approximately every 10 minutes.  This is usually between 250 and 270 messages.  (screenshot)  However, there is no double or extra emails.  In addition, the number of downloaded emails usually does not change (perhaps by 1 or 2 later in the day).

I have 4 email accounts in Mail, which are all Gmail accounts.  I went through each account settings and made sure they are all handled in the same way and have the same options are checked.

I think I found the problem with account, because I tried with the right button and select "Take account offline" when I see that it starts to download the messages.  Once I have put offline, the download stops.  I tried to remove this suspected account and Add again, but it still does the same thing.  Any help would be appreciated!

Hello and welcome to the communities of Apple support, ggerrits.

If I understand your message just Mail on your Mac continues to show that it Downloads hundreds of mails every 10 minutes. I can certainly understand how she could become a nuisance to see permanently who warn even if no new messages are actually downloading. I'm happy to help him to stop appearing.

You've done some excellent troubleshooting already to refine what e-mail account, what's happening with. The next thing that I recommend you do is to make sure that you run the version of OS X El Capitan, which should be 10.11.6. Using your Mac update, take a look at updating the software on your Mac. If you haven't done so already, I recommend also restart your Mac. Test the Mail after doing those two things.

If the problem persists, follow these steps:

    1. With Mail open, select "Mail" in the upper left corner of your screen and select Preferences.
    2. Select the tab accounts.
    3. Select the e-mail account that you are having the problem with.
    4. Select the Advanced tab.
    5. Uncheck "automatically detect and manage account settings."

Next, close and then restart Mail to see if you feel the same way.

Thank you for using communities of Apple Support.

    Take care.

  • Delete messages from Gmail, but keep in Apple Mail?

    Hi all.

I use Apple Mail to download my Gmail via IMAP (Apple Mail 9.3, OSX 10.11.5).

The problem is that my Gmail account is complete. To free up space in Gmail, I want to delete messages from Gmail, but keep them locally in Apple Mail. How can I do? I guess it's the server settings, but I don't know if I need to tinker with the Apple Mail, Gmail server settings, or both.

I tried to delete the messages in Gmail, but Apple Mail sync with Gmail and delete them locally, too.

    Thank you!

Activate the sidebar of accounts, so you can see the hierarchy of depot.

You should see a section here which says on my Mac. Click to show it, then right click to add box to the letters it. Call it something like old Gmail 2008-2014. Now you can select your old Gmails mainly Gmail Inbox and sent boxes and drag them to this mailbox on my Mac (folder). If you move hundreds or thousands of emails, here could be a delay before they appear in the new location, so don't panic.

Note: Many users choose simply to archive old emails, but do in Gmail, still continues to them on the server, if you're not reduce used storage space.

  • Apple Mail 9.3 (3124) slow to move, delete or send messages

Hello, I would like to know if anyone can help please?

I use El Capitan 10.11.5 with Apple Mail 9.3 and feel the slowness in the mail application when moving, deleting or sending a message. I have that on behalf of a configured email which is an iCloud account.

For example, if I delete 10 emails in my Inbox there is a progress at the bottom of the left pane bar say moving message 1 to 10 and it could take as much as 5 minutes to complete. Meanwhile, although emails are moved from the Inbox, if I click in the trash emails aren't there and by clicking New in the box receipt displays the ten new emails. They remove afterwards, but it takes a long time.

Email is the same. Once I click on send, e-mail is displayed in the Outbox but is sometimes as long as five minutes. The funny thing is that I get the test email on my other device almost immediately so email quickly leaves the mac, but seems to be getting hung up in the messaging application.

That's what I've tried so far: a new installation on a clean formatted drive to El Capitan followed a restore time machine of my data, programs and settings. I tried to remove bin records to sand e-mail: ~/Library/Containers/com.apple.mail and ~ / Library/Containers/com.apple.MailServiceAgent. I deleted these files one at a time and disconnected and turn it back on after that every one but did not see any performance increase. I tried logging in iCloud, completely closing and restarting, then signing in iCloud but had no luck.

May I ask, someone else see this behavior before or have any advice or fixes please?

    Just for the record, I use an iMac 27 "mid-2010 i3 16GB.

I'm grateful for any help I get.

    Thanking you in advance.

  • Deletes the Apple Mail messages

My laptop runs on El Capitan... all software are up to date.  Apple Mail periodically deletes messages from my Inbox, with no assistance from me.  I can't find any setting to change this.  Last night (December 17) he messages deleted from early October.  I have only 65 total messages so it isn't like this is the problem. • Cannot delete Apple Mail boxes on "on my Mac": what should I do?

I tried to delete these boxes several times in many different ways, but no matter what I do, they just keep reappearing.

I have 1) clicked and deleted several times; (2) I deleted their through Finder; (3) I've disabled my email accounts and tried to delete the boxes (of which some were successful with apparently); (4) I changed the behavior of the mailbox by the United Nations - by clicking on and then re - clicking deleted emails put in trash box (which some suggested online).

I have no idea what to do next. I have discussions with Apple, but I thought I'd try here to find a solution to this aggravating problem.

    Thank you.

    OK, I've figured this out.

When I imported the messages from Thunderbird to Apple Mail, I've initially diverted to mbox files. I then imported them in Apple Mail through the import of Apple Mail function. I made the mistake to include the mbox files related to IMAP accounts. After hours of trying to delete it, I tried the above suggestion. I deleted every internet account including iCloud. Then I deleted mailboxes mailbox imported that were related to IMAP accounts. It worked, and recreate the standalone mailboxes are now gone.
