  If you do a Get Info (command - I) on Mail and Maps applications, what version numbers do you see?

  Try a reboot.

  Make a backup using Time Machine or a cloning program, to ensure that data files can be recovered. Two backups are better than one.

  Try to set up another admin user account to see if the same problem persists. If back to my Mac is enabled in system preferences, the guest account will not work. The intention is to see if it is specific to an account or a system wide problem. This account can be deleted later.

  Isolate a problem by using a different user account

  If the problem is still there, try to start safe mode using your usual account.  Disconnect all devices except those necessary for the test.   A word of warning, do not use Registry cleaners, Registry Booster, fixers registry or something like that - none of them are any good, and many of them can cause a lot of damage.  If you have everything installed, removed and never to use again them if you are evaluating your registry and your system base.  It is common knowledge among the 'technicians' but is not widely published.  I've been involved in routed where it causes so much damage that we had to do a clean install as our only option.  Vista does very well on its own.  Don't risk your system by using such a program.

  There is no way to reinstall all Windows Mail.  To reinstall Windows Mail, you will need to rei - install the entire Vista operating system (there is no download separated - it is built into the system).  I don't think you want to go this route if you will not even consider a system restore.

  I set Thunderbird as my default email client. I have three accounts and they all work very well. However if I click on a link to the email address of someone in another application, it opens MS 'Mail' in point 8.1 of Windows. I tried to delete accounts in Windows but it tells me that the removal of my primary e-mail address account, will affect my loging in Windows?
  So far I have copy and paste other email addresses in Thunderbird, but it's a bit a work around.

  Can anyone help please? (Not a power user).

  • Flash Player for Ubuntu (apt) 11.2
  • Flash Player 11.2 for another Linux (.rpm)
