  I received an email saying that I can get a free update of Windows 8 to 8.1 now I just see that if you download the upgrade through Windows there are a load of HP. It is a HP computer brand new so I thought that maybe it's a promotion at HP and I want to just make sure before I download it.  Has anyone already received something like that?

  Currently, I am working on a big project little documented in the jargon of the Director / without having built myself. So, I am facing a lot of issues and problems.

  (I work with the German edition, so maybe that some of my Director translated English terms are not correct.)

  This time I am facing a very strange behavior of the application. There is a parent script named "PersonalZelle" (personal cell) that has a function named "switchCameraCB". I have not found any call of this function by text search in other scripts. I've tried choosing to search "all members of the distribution" (German: "Alle Besetzungen"). But placing a breakpoint there and debugging, this function is actually used in the currently running application! How can O.o this be?

  So my questions are:

  (1) are there any 'hidden' scripts/code beyond the cast members? If so, how can I find them?

  (2) otherwise, how is it possible to have a function/method used if no code is actually not called it?

  Second example:

  In another script, there is a variable named piVideoNum. This variable is NOT instantiated, and no value it is given in any of the code. But he debugging, there always the correct value that it should have. How can this be? O.o where it takes the value of? As much as I know there is no interface user-part with this fixed variable. In the user interface, you have three videos which you can klick, and if klicked, the correct number of video is recorded in piVideoNum. But in the script attached behavior, there is nothing. The method that handles the klick calls another method and sends the piVideoNum - without having changed before. Perhaps it is also done by some code/script 'hidden '?

  Well, not exactly.  The beauty of 'ownership' is that each sprite that uses this behavior has it's own, unique value for this property - that is not as a global variable.  So, whenever you click on one of the videos, it will use its own value for this property.  It seems that in your case, they never change, so one of the videos always has a piVideoNum property whose value is set to 1, and another video is configured to use the number 2.  You get the idea.

  They are essentially of three different variables, and you can see it by going to the frame and then typing in the message window:

  put .piVideoNum sprite (1)

  put .piVideoNum sprite (2)

  put .piVideoNum sprite (3)

  (except, of course, use correct sprite numbers), and you will see 3 different values.

  Windows Media player is completely missing in my Windows 7 Ultimate install!  In the Windows features turn on or turn off, there are no Windows Media Player.  When I try to run it with wmplayer on the command line, it is not found.  It is not in Program Files, it is not in Program Files (x 86).  I can't download from microsoft.com.  I can't find it on the installation disc.

  Just figured it out. I installed Windows 7 Ultimate N, which is said to not have one installed (not true, that it is IE 8) Web browser or Windows Media Player (true).

I try to go to the site and me this Windows Media Center 2005 and the Web site links to the download of Windows 7, which we do not want to do, with a link to "Download Windows Media Center now. Which takes me to a page explaining how to use WMC, then gives me a link to get the WMC, which brings back me to the download page of Windows 7, to infinity. There are no Windows Media Center on this computer, and we would like to get Windows Media Player for XP. How this is done?

• No sound in windows media player (11.0.6002.18111) only trying to play mp3 files. No way of fixing/uninstallation or reinstallation. Need advice!

  I recently encountered a problem with Windows Media Player 11 (a specific version in the title of the topic) where no sound play atall when you try to play mp3 files. When trying to play a track of the progress indicator moves VERY slowly and jumps in a stuttering mode and no sound whatsoever is coming through the speakers. He is a recent problem.

  All audio files work on other audio programs like Real player, quick time e.t.c. and the sound comes from the computer normally. Only the sound that I have are with windows media player when you try to play mp3 files. Still fine read video files, wav files play fine. How boring is that he suddenly decided he likes are more mp3 files!

  More annoying, I stumbled upon the fact that I can't uninstall the reader as in Vista, it is part of the operating system literal, I can't download and install WMP install package from Microsoft because I tried and it tells me that I have a more recent version of Windows media player and therefore impossible to use the downloaded Setup program to install or repair windows media player. It is therefore impossible for me to get an installation package that is newer than the one on the computer, you would have thought that the downloadable installation on the microsoft Web site would be the more recent but no!

  I can't think of a way to solve this problem. For me it feels strongly a Codec issue to do with MP3 and WMP but I don't really know about Codecs enough to go on the setting of the specific Codec with the question, or even track down which codec it is perhaps whether she "is" a codec problem in the first place.

  I tried settings with the menu of options in WMP 11 troubleshooting unsuccessful (obviously), I also tried an audio tool / repair of breakdowns than microsfts audio troubleshooting prompted me to try, that of no problems with the actual audio devices on the system... I KNOW, his problem with WMP and mp3 files!

  So, to summarize, WMP doesn't read MP3 files, I can't run a repair tool that there is no 'installation' to WMP 11 package, it is not an uninstall utility is which means that I can't uninstall it to reinstall a new, I can't download the installation package and run it as apparently I have a more current version than is available on the microsoft Web site. Then what should I do?

  FIXED!

  randomly enough rate and bit depth format sample somehow has set high in the sound control panel, advanced driver.

  After hitting "restore defaults" it resets the depth of rate and little sample return at: 16 bit 44.1 khz

  The sound now plays perfectly.

  Weird it performs only mp3 files!

  Thanks for the help people, it seems that I ended up sorting out on my own though! Yay for me! haha

  The latest version of Windows Media Player that could open almost any multimedia file was version 6.4. Starting from this version, Microsoft have not been allowed to allow WMP to play almost any type of media file, and they were taken to court top.

  That's why Microsoft does not now permit. Apparently, the decisions of the Court are there to give other media players, including Apple stuff, a foothold in the market. I don't think Microsoft 3rd party codecs use same lawyer in case they have trouble.

  The .wpl files are probably Windows Media Playlist files... not real music files.
