[AS / CC] Resizing a box and image content

Is there a method of resizing by percentage ro a box and the image inside?

My code for this is:

(first line of the box, second for the image)

resize selection in inner coordinates from top left anchor by multiplying current dimensions by values {0.75, 0.75} with resize individually and considering ruler units
resize image 1 of selection in parent coordinates from top left anchor by multiplying current dimensions by values {0.75, 0.75} with resize individually and considering ruler units

But unfortunately, if the image is shifted, the result is not what we can expect: the image is resized, but misplaced.

Any suggestion?

I just updated my indesign to CC of CS5. One thing I notice which is annoying is some text boxes and images go live. For example, if you close a text box in CS5 you close the box you see reformat the text to set the new size. In CC, the text does not reformat until you are done change the size of the box. It's the same for the images when resizing or rotation re. You don't know what you have until its finished. If you are a little guess instead of see what you're doing while. Is there a way to change this, or does anyone else have this problem. Maybe it's just what does CC. But I'm not a fan... Can anyone help?

  • Help on resizing text boxes and the General image techniques

    Using CS2.

I have two fundamental questions.  We have to do to get the best images to vector (with text) that I can for placement in InDesign documents.  The other relates to the specificity of work with text in FW boxes.

The easiest way for me to produce vector images has been using PowerPoint.  I do all the graphic work, and then save it as a gif file.  I don't and then cropping in a graphic (Irfanview, PS) tool insert or place the image.  As long as there is no resizing, things work fine.  I do not know how things like IPR are controlled using this technique but I'm assuming that would be also with the graphical tool.  I know that Irfanview allows the CIO to clarify when resizing.

The problem starts to appear when the gif object is resized.  Things are distorted and I lose the freshness of the image content.  I'm certainly not an expert on the graphics but I thought either, there is no resizing (just a cropping) or 2) to work in a tool such as FW where (I guess) so I need to make 1) actual size charts PP size of the final image placed there are better abilities to resize the vector images.  My feeling (again, not an expert) is that converts the process I use for vector graphics in PP to a bitmap image in the gif and resizing does not work as well for bitmap images with respect to vector objects.  Don't I have that right?

    Go to question 2:

Can the text boxes be resized in FW without distorting the text?  Their size is visible when initially drasing them?  Maybe spoiled by PowerPoint, I like to define the width of the vector objects (e.g. rectangle) and the width of the text it will fill at the same size.  (I know that PP has the opportunity to put borders on text boxes, but when you work in FW I need to work with 2 objects, the rectangle and the text box).  I have a wide 81px rectangle.  Can I set a text box to 81px wide without distorting the text?

I tend to want to control the dimensions of the real object so I can get good spacial alignment.  For example, I tend to set the width of a text to an odd number of px object so that any line that comes out of the text object coincide well with the text.  I must admit that it was perhaps time for me to use a different technique in FW (for example an alignment more than objects multiple vs knowing dimensions and locations seting).  My approach does need improvement?

    Thanks for the tips

    Tom

As I wean out of PP I started watching FW and Illustrator (I have both).  I did a logo or two in FW and have used it to build simple web graphics (e.g. buttons, menus).  It can, I believe, be a little more complicated than what I need in this case.

Given that the PP is not a graphics program, its drawing capabilities are very limited. As a result, all graphics applications will have many more features that you are used to see and more that you need for a project.

I did a little experiment with Illustrator and my first impression is that it will work better for me for this job.  It seems a little more intuitive.

Is a general rule to use FW for graphics for the web and Illustrator of what I was doing in PP?

Your suggested orientation is good. Also note that if you make a logo or a vector graphic in Illustrator (saved as .ai format), you can import into Fireworks and work with it as a vector object it. FW can import and use, simply create no, files and .ai objects.

FW has some vector tools, they are hidden under window > others > Path. Because the FW is intended to produce Web graphics, it is a hybrid, capable of vector and image/photo editing application. Given that she has some of both, it is not necessarily what is Illustrator, nor all that Photoshop has. It has most of the features of the two programs, as long as the feature is useful for a Web graphics designer. For pure photo retouching Photoshop has the edge; for pure illustration, Illustrator has the edge. Both Photoshop and Illustrator supports profiles of colors and other important features for printing which is not the fireworks. All are good programs, but there are reasons to prefer one over the other according to the type of graphics, you need to create or work with and what is your intended use of the work. (But none of them will be greater than PowerPoint!)

I'm not sure I can unravel the mystery with the resizing of text box.  I suspect theres an option is selected.  Knowing that it's possible, it's enough for me to do some homework.

Maybe... don't think that text boxes at all. You have text objects. The object has a bounding box which is determined by the underlying definition of the police, but he is not in an text box. (Sometimes swooshs goes beyond area of definition of a character in the police, but that's another question). The bounding box of the text object is similar to the of a circle or a star or an irregular shape bounding box. There is a reference to the dimensions box, but the text is not inside some other independent container.

To resize it, select the text object and change the font size using the Properties palette or using the tool of the ladder hanging out on a corner of the hierarchy (different from the bounding box, and I don't know why, sorry).

I think that with Illustrator, you can set text (or other) boxes and fill them with text. * Research * Oh... Like these: http://school.tatoland.com/illustrator/aitype.html

    Cheers!

Editing in the browser can you create new areas of text and images in your muse site? Or can you only replace pre-existing text/images?

You can only replace the existing content, do not change the structure of the page. See the respective help sections.

  • How to resize a document and its content?

I'm having trouble, only part of this page, on my document and resizing of a single page.

First details: my page dimensions are 800 x 1200. On this black background, there is texture layer measurement 760 x 130 up (for the declaration of name/logo/misson of the site) and 760 x 990 below (for content and graphics of the site). There are 20 px border (between textured layer and background) on the top and sides and 10 px border at the bottom. The gap between the top and the main textured areas 50 px is for the navigation bar.

Now the problem: I want to resize a page at 800 x 1250 px. And to complicate things, I want to only push the lower part of these 50 px, so that the layer of texture which measures 760 x 1040 (I need to add something to the main content of the page, so I don't want to influence the size of bar of navigation or the name/logo of the site).

Instructions for adobe (http://help.adobe.com/en_US/Fireworks/10.0_Using/WSAE41683F-ED20-4488-9389-79DC28BD7CE0.ht ml) were not much help. I go to modify > canvas > size of the Image, change to 1250 pixels, Unsnap "constrain proportions" and click on "resample image" and "current page only." When I do this, enlarged both the black background and the layer textured to the size I want. But it also:

1 change the entire page - in other words, it pushes the navigation bar and the areas of logo as well as the main content section.

    and, strangely,.

2 layer textured on my two dozens of other pages is growing, but not the black background. In other words, I change the background and the layer size on the page I want to edit, but I inadvertently as the textured layer (but not substantive) on all my other pages. (If the texture on all other pages now spills on black background).

So my question: How can I resize only the main content background and layer textured on one page? Is it still possible?

A big thank you to all those who can help. And my apologies for the long explanation.  But I am new to the Web design and Adobe Fireworks, and I tried to be as clear as possible about the problem.

PS Si importantly, I'm using Fireworks CS4

OK if this rectangle is on the master page, but must be in a different location on some pages, you need to delete the master page, add it to a page in your design (on its own layer) and then share that layer to all pages except those who are different in the dimension.

Add the object to the longer page (not shared this time) and scale it as needed.

Sharing layers to pages is much more flexible than the application of objects to the master page.

  • Box and stopped scaling content?

    Hi all

I think Ive messed up a setting somewhere cause it worked yesterday, but it is the box and the content in InDesign on my Macbook...

    Hold Alt-shift + command

    https://DL.dropboxusercontent.com/u/404696/MacBook.mov

    And this iMac Indesign...

    https://DL.dropboxusercontent.com/u/404696/iMac.mov

No scaling proportionally, I'll have to manually scale the box, then the image inside.

Reset preferences but still no change... and automatic adjustment is checked on both (I hate that)

    Any ideas?

    Thank you

Often third-party software can interfere with the strikes.

To test, restart your computer. With no other software running, run InDesign and try again.

As a general rule, the browser plug-ins may be the culprit.

  • I may as well resize canvas and image?

    Hello

I had a situation where I resized a photo to 7 x 7 inches and needed a canvas of 8 x 10 for treatment of photos at retail. I had to sign up a friend to make this happen for me on his photoshop product. That prompted me to upgrade to a new software product. Photoshop elements 12 will allow me to do? If this is not the case, what product will be?

    Thank you!

    Denise

    Hi Denise

Yes you can do it in the elements. Open your image of 7 x 7 in the editor and click on:

Image > resize > canvas size

Change the width and height 8 x 10 inch by typing in the boxes and make sure that all the arrows of the anchor are directed outwards on all sides and corners, and then click OK.

  • CS4 - resizing the frame and content in "width" transform range...

We must picture resizing placed, but the framework and the content at the same time with writing accurate dimension in "width" transform range. Problem is that this single image is resized. If we choose the photo with the direct Selection tool, only the content is scaled.

Write your dimension to the percentage field (the one with the number 100% all the time) and press ENTER. Don't forget not to put inches or mm with your numbers... otherwise indesign thinks you want to use percentages. Close the chain icon if you want to limit the proportions.

Set your DPI up to 185, I set mine at 185 and the issue went away.  anything between 185-200 and the problem comes back.

185 is an acceptable DPI, just a workaround solution.

and a little faster than a SFC installation or repair, which solves the problem.

I'm trying to reduce the file size of a jpeg file, but the dialog box under image > image size reflects a much smaller that the file is. I saved the image after resampling and simplistic image, the pip size reduced to 72 and lowered the low quality only to see the minimum file size reduction. Why the dialog box in photoshop gives me a different file size than my computer and how do I solve this problem? Thank you!

The Image Size dialog box dialog box shows the uncompressed size.

Your operating system (Explorer/Finder) shows the size compressed. (size on the disk)

If you use save for Web, you can see the compressed size, but also an overview.

It would be the default path to wrap the text with the image when you work in Design view.

  • Photoshop CC: Have a template that I transferred the image to.  The image is too small.  How to resize the image in the template?  Or I have to go to the file original image and resize here over and over again until I have found the right person?

I have a model I am able to plug different images at different times.  The problem is when I plug an image in this template, I think that the image is either too big or too small.  Is it possible to connect the image in the template and resize the image (and not the template itself) OR I have to go into the file with the original image and resize them it there and then try to plug it into the model to see if it fits - and if it does not fit, return to the original with the image file and resize it again and see if this fits - and so on and so on...?  "" I tried the "image size" option, but it's all or nothing - especially miss!

    Thank you!

First, make sure that the original image is larger that you need. It is easier to delete pixels that so add nonexistent pixels.

Place the image in the template.

In the menu filters, choose Convert to smart object. (Make sure that the image layer is selected before doing this step)

Now reduce the size of the image of what you need (ctrl-t or cmd - t) when satisfied click return/enter.

Because the image layer is a smart object, you can replace the inner image in another image and the scale will remain the same. You will find the option to replace the image in the layers > smart menu object.
