  You may have dropped the HARD drive or memory loose when you dropped it. I open the doors on the bottom and check them. I hope it will be as simple as that.

  I love my Aspire 5750 (I use to make this post), but I'd love to upgrade the DVD Blu Ray.  Are there specific readers recommended out of the box, or are those I should avoid due to hardware compatibility problems?  I know that I can get parts and readers about anywhere online, but I would like to know what should I look for in particular.  Any help is appreciated.

  I found a Blu Ray drive for your computer laptop here, but it is a company based in the United Kingdom (but they do an expedition around the world!). As it is designed for the 5750, there will be no compatibility issues. You'll need is a software to run Blu Ray movies.

  I can easily play these files with RealPlayer or VLC so I don't think it's a driver problem, and it wasn't a corruption right after installing the other players. WMP seems to work OK when playing music or AVI. And there is no harm to hear a sound (wav or midi) in Windows for various system events. Have already uninstalled/reinstalled WMP without result.

  I have since determeined the problem comes from an updated codec package I installed a few weeks ago. These codecs were from Shark007 which I believe is a Microsoft MVP. Use the codecs from this site for a number of years without any problems so I did not initially suspect it was the source of the problem. I uninstalled the codec pack and installed K-light package and everything seems to be Ok now. Now, I'll be in contact with the members of this forum.

  I don't think that any of these covers exist, but you can cover the points of contact in battery with insulating tape.

  Check if the HDMI Audio is listed in Control Panel.

  Click Start ==> Panel ==> Sound ==> Playbacktab Select. If HDMI Audio is listed here, make sure that the green check mark is listed. If not, just click on any space and select show disabled or disconnected devices. Then right-click on the HDMI Audio and select as a default device.

  May be that the video file format is not compatible with Windows Media Player.

  Options: -.

  1] download and install VLC Player. It's free and supports file formats more than WMP.

  2] download and install the codecs

  Personally, I prefer VLC Player-if you have that then not need to download and install the codec of any third party.
