Aspire E 15. the NumLock key

The number keys on the right are locked and I can't use them.  When I press the NumLock key it sounds right and a lock open and close on the screen.

Can anyone help? I bought this laptop mainly for these keys.

Control Panel---> Ease Of Access Center---> make the keyboard easier to use---> uncheck the box, "turn on mouse keys"
You can also change the setting for the mouse keys to activate only when the NUMLOCK is off.

The mouse keys is a feature of Windows that allows to use the keys to move the cursor.

  • How to turn off the NumLock key?

Yes, I googled this! I spent two hours Googling that!

I followed the instructions on editing my registry and changing the settings of the BIOS. I came to the conclusion that these solutions don't change the start-up for Num Lock. But I want the Num Lock is completely disabled. When I press NumLock I won't do anything! I don't want the 6 on the num pad button at the right point... I don't want the rocker!

    What should I do?

    Hi neverendingnoise,

You might have tried it before, but here's how to disable it through the registry:
    1. Click Start, click run, and type regedit to open the Windows Registry Editor.
    2. In the registry, open the sub folders.

      HKEY_CURRENT_USER\
      Control Panel\
      Keyboard\

    3. In the case of keyboard, you should have a string value named "InitialKeyboardIndicators" to a value of 0, 1, or 2. Here is the explanation of each of these values.

0 = NUMLOCK is turned off after the opening of the session.
      1 = disable caps lock.
2 = NUMLOCK is enabled after logon.

  • When I restart and press f8 to go into safe mode, I can't scroll to the top I use the arrow keys, but she will not go up

It shows the possibility to go in safe mode, but I can not just ride to select

Try using the arrow keys on the numeric keypad (key '2' and '8'), but for those to work, your "Num Lock" must be disabled.  (Press the NumLock key, until the light Verr off Num).

If this does not work and you are able to boot into normal mode, you can configure so that it starts in safe mode using "msconfig":
    Start-> Run-> "msconfig".
    Start msconfig, click on:
Win.ini (tab)-> and then place a check mark in front of "/ SAFEBOOT"-> click on 'OK '.
    Restart your computer.
He will then start safe mode.

  • How to disable the NumLock on the keyboard of laptop

    Keyboard

I am running Microsoft Vista Home Premium on my laptop, Th, question I have is when I touch my keyboard letters it outputs numbers instead will be on some of the keys, if I hold down the fn key it works ok, I can just get out of the letters without hold down the fn key

This is normal behavior when the NumLock key has been pressed. Try pressing it again. On some models the Fn button must be held down when you press the NumLock key. There is normally a light on the keyboard to indicate the number lock is enabled. The digital lock key may be marked Num, NumLock, or something similar. If in doubt, consult the manual of your PC.

His name is regedit.exe and you can get to by typing in the search
    box of the start menu.

However, to be * very * careful. Whatever you do in regedit is saved
immediately, and a mistake can leave you with a computer that won't start raining.

  • Pavilion 17z-F200 CTO: How do I change turn on the num lock (NumLock) key have a State by default to it?

How do I change turn the num lock (NumLock) key a Pavilion 17z-F200 CTO to have a State default one?

System BIOS has no setting for it. By another post, I tried to set the value of register in HKEY_USERS\. Default\Control Panel\Keyboard for "InitialKeyboardIndicators" of "2147483648" to "2147483650. It seems not to change after a reboot.

Yes, the BIOS settings was the first thing I checked. But BIOS seems to only contain States in order for the locks of keys on the new HP Pavilion or Envy laptop.

I did more research and found more credible sources to TechNet asking to change the same registry value to 2. I tried it and it works a fact/do.

If I want to I have to hold down the FN key and shift at the same time key to get capital letters uppercase letters.

Looks like your laptop is a numeric keypad incorporated in the standard keyboard.  So, probably, you have NumLock to be able to use this feature.  Find a way to turn off Num Lock.

It would be better to a question in a forum of Acer...
    Or simply look in your manual...  (page 19); }

  • Activate the NumLock at startup - like X 360

    Hello

Is there a way to activate the NumLock at startup for HP envy x 360?  It's frustrating for him, I use the method of axis on windows 8, simly because his character only 4 and I don't have to hit enter. There is also no light on the button to indicate its status.

    The BIOS details:

    Insyde, version: F.06

    Exit the: 12/06/14

    Hello @wmhp ,

    Welcome to the HP Forums!

I appreciate that you try to find a way to activate the NumLock feature on startup.

    Try this simple regedit:

    1. run the registry editor. (Windows key + R, regedit, OK)
    2. navigate to (and click on) HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Keyboard
    3. change the value of the InitialKeyboardIndicators from 0 to 2.

NOTE: Always back up the registry before making changes. Make it open regedit window and click file > export... Save the file to a location that you will remember. If something happens after editing the registry, you can start in safe mode and Open regedit to import the backup version.

The registry should remember if the NUMLOCK is turned on or off when you turn off your laptop. Make sure that the NUMLOCK is turned on before you turn off your PC.

Let me know if it works for you.

  • Aspire E1 - 572 - original product key preinstalled Windows 8

I bought my Acer Aspire E1-572 in March 2014 with a Windows 8 preinstalled. I upgraded to 8.1, then Windows 10. Then a friend noticed my laptop computer running very slow and proposed to create a separate partition for all my personal files. He wiped everything clean without realizing that preinstalled Windows does not come with a label old-fashioned of the product key for Windows, so now, I have a version of Windows 10 which cannot be activated. The seller referred me to Microsoft, they referred me to Acer, but... I am out of warranty. I'm afraid to try to refresh my laptop because there is no previous version of Windows 8 on left to return to. Pleeeaaaaase HELP!

  • Aspire V 17 Nitro - function keys not working do not after Windows 7 installation

I just recently picked up an Aspire V 17 Nitro and immediately installed Windows 7 above. Everything works great so far but I noticed that the function keys do not work. Those where you hold down the "Fn" key and then do things like adjust volume.

Someone knows how to fix this?

    Thank you.

    I thought about it.

I had to install the program "Launch Manager" from Acer.

And I had to go back a few versions to find one that worked with Windows 7.

  • Cannot access BIOS when OS disk encrypted w / Bitlocker, starting on the USB key is not unlock disc

    Hello

I enabled Bitlocker on my Acer Aspire 5315. The system partition is encrypted and the data partition. My motherboard doesn't have a TPM chip, so I opted for the unlock with a USB key.

When I start the PC or wake them from their hibernation, the splashboot (with the logo of Acer) BIOS screen does not display the information below on how to access the BIOS (press F2) or the boot menu (F12). And therefore I can't access those as I used to.

BitLocker does not account for the USB key, then asks for the password to unlock the HARD drive. Then Windows starts very well.

However, restart (by a Windows or after you have entered the wrong password Bitlocker too many times), the BIOS splash screen is normal (with how access BIOS and boot menu), I can access BIOS by pressing F2 AND succesfully Bitlocker unlocks the HARD drive with the USB flash drive without having to ask for the password.

So, my question is how Bitlocker unlock the HARD disk automatically via the USB when the PC starts?

    Thank you for reading.

Note: I posted this question on http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/w8itprosecurity/threads they suggested that I ask the Acer support.

Thank you also get answers in the TechNet forums.  I'm sorry that you were unable to get a more complete answer it.

We suggest that you uninstall BitLocker and decrypt the drive to determine if this restores your ability to access the BIOS.
