  • Problem to create the Internet connection sharing between Windows XP and Windows Vista.

    Original title: Internet connection sharing between Windows XP and Windows Vista.

    Hello

    Recently, I plugged a laptop running Windows XP to a desktop computer running Windows Vista using a standard Ethernet cable with the intention of use sharing of Internet connection. The notebook contains a wireless connection that I've routed to the office via the cable said.  While the initial phase of installation went well (I was too lazy to do it manually, so I just used the Wizard "Set up a home or small business network" Windows XP,) I had to turn off the host computer to install a program. When I tried to set up ICS again, I couldn't connect to the Internet by using ICS. After this failure, I tried to configure the properties of TC/IPv4 (IP, gateway by default, etc.) manually, but I still couldn't run.  I am able to access the shared host PC and client files. It seems to me that some service essential to the proper functioning of the ICS may be disabled in some way, but it's just speculation, as I have no evidence of such a service. Help would be most appreciated.

    Thank you

    FG-man

    I tried this before using a laptop to share internet with my 360.  problem is there was Nat on the router, and it is in contradiction with the ics.

    Anyway long story short I did some research on the Internet and discovered that if you're behind a router ICS will be confllict with her, as ICS also does routing. a much better option is to "bridge the conections ' on the laptop.

    http://www.Microsoft.com/resources/documentation/Windows/XP/all/proddocs/en-us/hnw_bridge_install.mspx?mfr=true

    If you go this route, you need to set a static ip address for the office,

    Either that or if you want to continue using ICS put the laptop in the DMZ in the router may help, but it will be less secure.

    Hope that this helped good luck

    The Vista installation disc is a DVD. Apparently, you don't have a DVD player. You would need to purchase/install a DVD-ROM or DVD - RW to install Vista. Are you sure that your hardware supports Vista before doing this?

    Even if a minimum of 1 GB, the requirements in the real world Vista requires a minimum of 2 GB of RAM to run without problem. You will also need Vista drivers for all your hardware.

  • Security and Windows Vista

    I had problems that someone told me that Malware Bytes would take care of... the trial version is free and it helped.  When the problems started once again I had to get the paid for version - back in Oct.  Well today I went online and there was a MB message saying I should check the box... etc.  But it does not work.  I spent several hours trying to fix it, and finally I deleted it from my computer.  Except that he would not go.  I get the message "he is not on the computer"... but it's always on the opening screen and control panel and it won't go anywhere.  I had to delete Mozilla Firefox because I couldn't use it because of Malware Bytes.  It's crazy.  I'm currently waiting for the help - hoping that someone will tell me how to reformat the hard drive, so I can just start over and reinstall Vista.  I do not have a more recent (Windows 10) but I learned not to use it again.  If anyone of you have any ideas on how to get off my computer from the Malware Bytes please let me know.  Thank you.

    Hello

    The free version of Malwarebytes is free to use as long as you want at the moment.

    If you have problems with paying them for the version, you will need to contact their support.

  • What is blue screen and what to do and how to fix this with out taking back to factory setting and reinstalling Vista

    What is blue screen and what to do and how to fix this with out taking back to factory setting and reinstalling Vista

    When a BSOD (Blue Screen of Death) the system failure occurs, for most users, there not enough time to fully record what he says. the exact text is important for anyone trying to diagnose what is wrong. You can save time when the error occurs then by following the procedure described below.

    If you already did it disable the auto reboot system error. This should help by allowing the time to write the code to Stop error and related information correctly. Select Start, do a right-click on computer select Properties, advanced, system settings startup and recovery, system failure and uncheck the box before automatically restarting. Re-do not enable automatic restart in the event of system failure after obtaining this information, this setting is the best left to not allow an automatic restart.

    If the failure occurs during the initialization of the computer, you need to try a different approach. You can access the Advanced Options Menu of Windows on multiple computers by constantly pressing the F8 (key) key when starting and selecting the option - disable automatic restart in case of system error. This method is not always easy to use because it may be difficult to press the F8 key at the right time. Try again if it doesn't work the first time. On some computers, a different key must be used.

    Transfer Vista Business on XP Pro computer.

    I have a desktop computer with Vista business I want to upgrade to Windows 7 and install Vista on a laptop that has XP Pro but is Vista capable.

    Hello

    If you use the Vista licence as part of the upgrade to Windows 7 you cannot use the license of Vista anywhere elsewhere

    It is part of the upgrade process

    and also read this on licensing rules;

    If Windows was preinstalled on your computer, Dell, HP, etc., or you bought an OEM/license disk, they are both classified as an OEM license and are not transferable.

    The Windows OEM license is linked to the original computer it is installed on and dies with the computer.
    You cannot transfer it to another computer/laptop

    If a retail Windows license, you can transfer it to another computer/laptop.
    But it can only be installed on one computer at a time.

    A single license is a single Installation.

  • setting up a dual XP/Vista with a copy preinstalled Vista and no vista CD

    When I learned how to do the dual boot about 10 years ago, I learned that you first install the oldest Windows (95, 98, etc.), and then install the latest copy of windows (server, 2000, XP).

    I just got my hands on a laptop with Windows Vista. He has an unused partition that I would use to make a dual boot with my copy of XP Pro because I don't have the vista installation DVD and it should work better, because the laptop has only 1 GB of RAM. A decent amount of RAM for XP, but not enough for Vista. There are questions I mentioned here , and I hesitated to choose this option as I used my copy of XP pro for a virtual machine to play with she was attending night school

    How can I go about installing XP? I guess if I boot my XP CD and select drive D, it would replace the boot on drive C sector and install mess up Vista Home Premium.  I have no way to reinstall Vista HP that I have only a gateway 64 bit OEM CD rather than an Acer 32 - bit OEM CD and if Vista is something like XP they do not accept other product keys.

    SlickRCBD salvation,

    You're right, Windows XP will replace the Vista boot sector; However, there is a solution. See this link from my Web site:http://vistasupport.mvps.org/install_windows_xp_on_machine_running_vista.htm

    It seems that if the CD is read correctly, but if I interpret your message right, you have problems to install the software.  And if the facts are that it is a product of 16 - bit and Vista is a 64-bit operating system, you won't be able to install it.  Support for older, 16-bit software was removed from Vista and Windows 7.  You would need to consider using a product such as Microsoft's Virtual PC or VirtualBox from Sun Microsystems virtualization to run - and if it were a game, same virtualization may not work.

    Impossible to uninstall and reinstall vista

    Read the info below;

    Vista recovery media obtain and/or use the Partition Recovery Vista on your computer to the factory settings .

    There is no Vista free download legal available.

    Contact your computer manufacturer and ask them to send a recovery disk/s Vista set.

    Normally, they do this for a cost of $ small.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    In addition, ask them if you have a recovery Partition on your computer/laptop to restore it to factory settings.
    See if a manual provided with the computer or go to the manufacturer's website, email or you can call for information on how to make a recovery.
    Normally, you have to press F10 or F11 at startup to start the recovery process...
    Another way I've seen on some models is press F8 and go to a list of startup options, and launch a recovery of standards of plant with it, by selecting the repair option.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

    Also ask them if it is possible to do the recovery disk/s for the recovery Partition in case of a system Crash or hard drive failure.

    They will tell you how to do this.

    Every computer manufacturer has their own way of making recovery disk/s.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Or borrow a good Microsoft Vista DVD (not Dell, HP, Acer, recovery disk/s etc).
    A good Vista DVD contains all versions of Vista.
    The product key determines which version of Vista is installed.
    There are 2 disks of Vista: one for 32-bit operating system, and one for 64-bit operating system.
    If install a cleaning is required with a good DVD of Vista (not HP, Dell recovery disks):
    At the startup/power on you should see at the bottom of the screen either F2 or DELETE, go to Setup/Bios or F12 for the Boot Menu
    Go to your Bios/Setup, or the Boot Menu at startup and change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order, then reboot with the disk in the drive.
