I went in lightroom and can't find my photos. I lost the link before and did the right click to find and they have been found, but it's different.

I bought an external hard drive and copied some elements but did not cut their.  I did a back up on my external hard drive, but even once did not move them. I did the simple troubleshooting and it doesn't work.  I'm trying to find the original by right clicking the? on the folder LR and once I find the file it tells me that Lightroom has this file already in the catalog - and I want to merge. I tried one and it disappeared or moved. Help!

Use the file Explorer to see if the images are still in their original location. I suspect that move instead of copy them. This can happen if you drag you the.

I found that it is best to use either right click on a file or folder name and select copy then right click on the drive-destination folder and select Paste or use keyboard shortcuts to copy and paste folder and files from one disk to another. The keyboard shortcuts are the CTRL + key C to copy and Ctrl + V to paste in the selected destination folder-drive.

  • I would use the external drive to download my photos, documents, etc. but do not know how to proceed.

I just got my old crash (desk top) computer. I knew it would, so I transferred all my information on an external hard drive. I bought a dell 2020 with windows 8, only bought a few days ago. I would use the external drive to download my photos, documents, etc. but do not know how to proceed.  My old computer won't start at all, that's why I got the external drive. Could someone please help me with this task. Thank you.

    Original title: confused

You can simply plug it in, connect the external hard drive, make sure it is turned on.

Then copy and paste on your files.

In Windows 8, start File Explorer

Highlight all the files and folders

Click on copy on the Ribbon (Home tab)

Then then paste into their respective folders

    Press Windows key + R

    Type: %UserProfile%

    Press enter

  • Convert.exe works with the portable USB drives?

Back when helping people spend 98 or ME to XP, there is a utility called convert.exe which could convert not destructive HDD FAT32 to NTFS.

This utility will work with a hard disk of laptop USB instead of an IDE drive? Some utilities are skittish about the material, and he did for years I've used this utility. I need to convert a portable hard drive 320 GB in NTFS for a virtual machine to run with VMware Player for a night school class, and I would rather not delete it if I have to.

    SlickRCBDsalvation,

Yes, it is possible to convert the file system fat32 of NTFS for a USB hard drive.

    Reference:

Convert a hard disk or partition to NTFS format

Warning: formatting a volume will destroy all data on the partition. Be sure to back up any data you want to save before you begin.

  • How to make a portable USB drive use the same drive letter all the time

    Original title:

I have many removable hard drives from Toshiba.  Use them for photography.  I usually connect simply, transfer photos from the DSLR camera (images raw, very big, not a camera point/rod).  When I plug in, computer automatically selects a player... F, g, H: by M or N.

Then, I use Adobe Lightroom for adjustments.  Once they are imported into Lightroom it keeps track of this record, they were on.

    PROBLEM:

If I unplug the removable hard drive, plug in at a later date, computer can randomly choose a different example M instead of H letter.
LightRoom is so impossible to find photos/images.  I would then have to re - import and start any setting completely from the beginning.

    Question:
How to direct the computer to select the same drive when I plug in a removable hard drive.

Plug in a hard drive removable, computer selects H:, can I import into LightRoom, I disconnect the removable hard drive, a week later I want to make adjustments more photography, connect the removable hard drive and FORCE/DIRECT COMPUTER TO SELECT H: AGAIN (or whatever of the original letter was).

    Hope it makes sense.

    Hello

There is a way to assign a static drive on an external USB drive letter, so you always get the same drive letter for the drive.

Click on the following link and follow the steps to change a drive letter.

Change, add, or remove a drive letter

  • Can I use old portable portable USB Drive on the new computer

My old, revered, laptop computer dv1240 gave the soul.  I suspect a motherboard problem, not a hard drive problem.  I have since bought a m6-1045dx laptop and I was wondering if there was anyway I could connect my old laptop computer as a USB drive to try to recover the data.  I like everyone swore I would be back up tomorrow, thank you!

    Hi Forum,

I just removed the HD of my dead MBP 2008, installed in a USB enclosure and connected to my iMac.  Work of HD, can open it.  How update the software / firmware on it or should I?

  • the simplest to copy some photos on DVD?

OK - I have about 50 set photos highlight in my library...

How can I easily burn it to DVD for a back-up of June?

but I support - up to a month at a time because I have 35 GB of photos

I think you have misunderstood.  He didn't want to save the entire catalog; he meant export * as * a catalogue.

Select the photos you want to export.

Select "Export as catalog" follow the instructions to make a _new_ with only your photos currently selected catalogue (keywords, changes, etc., etc.).

Then empty * who * the dvd catalogue.  Images and all.

If you have to recover them, you simply load the dvd on a computer, select "import the catalog" and everything comes back.

That has meaning today?  Hope so!

    See you soon!

Is it only happens using USB drive?
Have you tried other disks USB, key USB flash or other USB devices?

    > I tried to check my RAM with memtest, but it restarts my pc once he starts the first tests.
    Hmm... It's strange...
The problem of memory could be responsible for BSOD, but if this BSOD appears only using USB drive then I would recommend testing other external USB HDD.

You should also try to update the driver from chipset since the chipset USB ports driver controls

  • Copying files to a USB drive stops at Midway

Hi I have a windows 7 (Home premium 64-bit) Laptop drives and two USB ports (a Kingston 16 GB data traveler and another 4 GB Cruzer). I also have an XP laptop. On the XP laptop, I can use the two USB drives to copy files of any size. Both are partitioned NTFS.

But on the win 7 laptop only cruzer 4 GB works without problem. Whenever I try to copy a file to that drive 16 GB from win 7 playback starts without problem but stop somewhere between the two. It does not shortly after. I tried a number of solutions, including a fix suggested in this forum and still having the same problem. If I copy a file very small (a few MB), she can finish to copy without any problems.

    Can someone please.

  • Access denied on USB drives

I just bought a new HP ProBook 450 G1... running Windows 7... I inserted a USB stick to copy some of the files on my another computer and got the Windows Messgae "You have currently access to open this folder", then I press the button "continue' and get the message"you have refused permission to access this folder", and he says"to access this folder, you use the Security tab.

I click on the link to the 'security' tab, but there is not any tab 'security' in the Properties menu for the flash player.

My connection is the administrator and checked all access "."

I also tried other flash drives and USB hard drive, and has been denied access on each of them.

Not sure if this is a Windows 7 problem or a problem with the HP software pre-loaded, which I probably will unistall, but is waiting to see if you have an easy solution for this?

It was the pre-installed "HP Device Manager" causing the denied access.

For some reason, as a first step, good ball messages were not disaplayed, but later, after a few restart, I noticed the message.

So I uninstalled it and I now access external drives... of course do not need that hassle to enter my password every time I attach a flash or external hard drive driver (and it only giving me access for 15 minutes).

Maybe there is a way to change the settings in the HP Device Manager... but people don't have the time!

  • I want to copy all my jpg files to another directory (a portable hard drive) with some of the same names of JPGs, but not necessarily all. What will happen? The word 'COPY', will be some of the deleted files be added or nothing at all.

I have a LOT of pictures in my computer (over a thousand) and I want to put them on a portable hard drive, I bought (1 terabyte) but I won't write any of the names of existing files with different images. IS THIS POSSIBLE? Do I need software or special hardware? I tried the copy/paste standard as well as move files to the new directory, but it seems that I can lose files. I'm not sure if the files that are missing (or lack, in my opinion) are not copied. When I finished emptying the directory, it shows that it is empty but the new directory does not seem to have any additional files that should be there based on the counting of the files before and after.

Thanks for any help you can provide, Bill

1: right-click and then drag the pix on the external drive. Release the right mouse button and choose copy here. They are there?  Now remove it from the computer.

2: you can see pix of the same name overwrite each other, or be done with (1), (2), etc.. But even in this case, they will be interspersed with the former. If keep you them in separate folders with different names, that should not happen. Personally, I rename all the pix before storing them. You can select the set instead of the code of the camera and a group, rename the first holiday 2009 yo and the rest will be renamed holiday 2009 and each havf will one (1), (2), (3), after them.

It is also a nice freeware tool which, among other things, can rename a group of photos easily.
