Audio playback in a PDF file

Audio playback: when you try to play audio data from a PDF file, an error message appears to indicate, "build-in the Windows Adobe Reader cannot read this format as the required decoder is not installed on the system." Where are acquired necessary decoders and where are they placed in service? The original files were probably created in 2005.

Activation of Windows Media player is the solution.

  • How can I improve the quality of video playback in interactive PDF files?

I make a PDF from InDesign CC iInteractive with a few videos included. Everything works well except the videos shakes a little compared to play in quick time. The videos are in HD_H264.mp4 format. They are very large files, playing on a new Mac Book Pro with 8gig of Ram. I tried different things to improve reading, including setting up the PDF file to read in a floating window (which slightly improve things), but I prefer their largest.  Any ideas would be appreciated.

There's not much you can do. The Acrobat family is 32 bit and acceleration hardware 2D is no longer supported - HD video playback is a battle. With the help of a floating window, you can make sure the video is a true 1:1 scale, which helps as she stops to Flash Player having to re - sample, but that's all.

Today, I got my new laptop.  Downloaded Adobe Acrobat Reader DC.  My pdf opens but no sound and nothing happens when I push the play button.

    Hi Keith,

Try again after you disable the Safe_mode in the CD player. (Menu-> preferences-> Security (enhanced) Edition-> uncheck (turn the Mode protected at startup) and restart the Application)

    Kind regards

  • my HP Pavilion laptop 2249wm g6 will not read PDF files on audio disc why?

My HP Pavilion laptop 2249wm g6 crashed twice in 2 weeks. When he returned from recovery he had nothing in it but windows 8 (I have upgraeted to 8.1) she does not restart right. It will be not also offer PDF files that are on the audio disc now I have to download something?  It blocks also almost all clicks on links how can I stop this. all this for now thank you.

    Hi Cj97Lj,

I'm sorry you had this much trouble with your laptop.

I send you the HP Pavilion g6-2249wm Notebook PC product specifications, it will let you know what came with this computer. I also want you are trying to open HP Pavilion Notebook PC Maintenance and Service Guide of g6 because it is a PDF file. If you open then we know that you have installed Adobe and that something else is causing the problem. If you can't open it, then download and install Adobe Reader from my previous post and then try to run your audio discs.

I also send this document for recovery software (Windows 8) Options , which explains how to do the recovery.

I have my fingers crossed it works for you, keep me posted.

Thank you and have a great day!

  • Audio playback USB and device names record - the enumeration of devices, device INF file or required device driver?

My gadget usb audio has two "playback devices" and a "recording device".

It works with the usbaudio.sys driver, but I want to give each channel separate namespaces.

I found a way in windows 7 to rename the audio device using UI actions (right click, properties, etc.), but I want to do it via usb enumeration, instead of requiring the user to do.

USB enumeration has a "output terminal device", which has different categories of devices, but these don't map with different names.

    1. is there a a way to change the name of an audio playback and the recording device using the usb enumeration data?

    2. can I do this automatically on a usb hotplug?

    3. an INF file help?

    4. or I have to write my own driver to rename playback and recording devices?

    Thank you

Since the update of my pc based system with 10 windows and install the last Prime Minister CC when I drag a clip on the timeline audio does not come with it. I can hear audio playback in the preview window of small file so the audio is there, but it does not appear or play on the timeline. I can drag an audio file of Ms on the timeline, but I need audio from my original file to synchronize my audio file recorded independently - used to be no problem... any ideas what I can not edit now?

    Hi Neil,

Drag / drop may not work if you don't have any enabl; e source patch or did not target the track for the same thing.

  • Audio commentary in PDF files

I use the audio comments button to insert audio files, but I wonder about the quality of 'default' for the audio files.  The comments created sizes of files of very large proportion (up to 25 meg with only two audio commentaries, as well as any other text inserttions).  Is it possible to "reduce" the audio quality in order to keep the size of the file?  Thank you!

You insert new multimedia annotations in Acrobat X Pro using the Tools pane of > content panel > multimedia button, which opens a context menu for video, sound, 3D files and SWF.

Acrobat Pro XI, it is moved to the Tools pane > Panel objects interactive and every type of media has its own button

Select the appropriate tool (for example sound)-draw a rectangle on the page where the player appears, and then choose your file, or enter a URL, if you want the media to download 'live' for the Viewer.

As for decoupling - the issue isn't with this you have got installed when the PDF is created, this is what your audience have installed (or not) when they open the PDF file. From the point of view creation, rich media is actually identical between Acrobat 9, X and XI outside the key is transferred to a new Panel. If your audience have Adobe Reader X it play seamlessly. If they drive XI and you have not previously opened to any content PDF with Flash inside, it will tell them to download the plugin. For now, sound does play at all on the mobile version of the Adobe Reader software.

  • You can save the audio of a video embedded in a pdf file?

I can't find anything about this, so I'll ask. A customer sent an interactive pdf of company produces us and wants us to use the audio of a video clip that is in the pdf file. We asked for the audio clip, but they don't know who to pick all this up and keep just by saying that it is in the pdf file. While others try to explain that a pdf and mp3 files are not the same thing. I can look in a fall back position to try to extract the audio (or video). There is no question of copyright here. Peon customer just can't / won't get the right file.

Maybe someone can help or point me to the info that says that's not possible.

    Thank you.

There is software available to capture anything that would play through your speakers by capturing the output before it hits the speakers. On Mac, I used Audio Hijack and WireTap Studio. I'm sure there are similar programs for Windows.

  • Cannot display PDF files, automatically download instead

I use the pdf viewer integrated for centuries without problem. Today, for the first time, I found that I could see is no longer notes pdf for my Korean online courses. Instead, a record/download dialog popped up.

Initially this problem included all THE PDFs that I tried to open it in FF. It has been about 6 hours at this point, which is crazy - and I went through a considerable amount of solving the problems of methods (not necessarily in that order, apart from the last two):

    • Installed Schubert PDF Browser Plugin.
    • Disabled the PDF Viewer integrated via preferences > applications and move to a different Viewer: schubert... always had save box.
    • Installed the plug-in Adobe PDF... couldn't use (I use a Mac os x 10.7, + the plug-in Adobe is buggy and not a viable option for me)
    • Delete the mimetypes.rdf... no changes to the file.
    • Launched FF in safe mode... no change.
    • The built in Viewer again activated via preferences > applications > portable document format (pdf) > Preview in firefox.
    • Check that "pdfjs.disabled" has been switched to 'false' in subject: config... It has been.
    • About: config I have reset "plugin.disable_full_page_plugin_for_types" by default, and then change the value to: ' video/mp4, application/pdf '.
    • Delete the mimetypes.rdf file.
    • Re-initialize the plugins database.

The problem continued until I reset my plugin database and tried to delete the mimetypes.rdf again and make another restart.

Now it seems that most pdf opens fine with the integrated Viewer and schubert. However the site which I fell initially on the problem with: http://www.koreanclass101.com doesn't open PDF and still opens the Save dialog automatically whenever I click on open the pdf links. It also does the same thing when I get the pdf directly in the address bar.

I have to pay a subscription so I'm not sure, you can go to this link without being a student, but here it's just in case: www.koreanclass101.com/pdfs/BB_L5_051611_kclass101.pdf

(to note this page of links to another pdf file that is not hosted on koreanclass101, and this pdf that opens now fine for me.)

I tried to clear the cache and cookies to koreanclass101, but even after this, the problem persists. I wonder if the fact that it has Korean text on the PDF of the questions at all? Although I don't know why he would do.

I really need a fix for this! The teachings are based on the ability to switch at the back of the audio in pdf format IN my browser. When I open the PDFs with preview and run interactive lessons in FF at the same time, FF slows down to a crawl and begins to hang whenever I go back and forth btwn programs.

As you can see, the Content-Type is correct, but a download prompt is forced with the Content-Disposition: attachment header. Install the add-on from InlineDisposition, then click on the PDF link again. It should then behave as you specified under Options - Applications.

    You are welcome.

  • Why not download and read .pdf files

I never had no problem download and playback of .pdf files to what I 'upgraded' Adobe reader version 11. Now all the downloads of attempts fail because "I don't have the necessary helper or same C:\DOCUME~1\Will-o\LOCALS~1\Temp\Back channel II - betrayal of the Viet Nam - ch. 1 & 2. PDF cannot be opened, because the associated helper application does not exist. Changing the association in your preferences. What in the world is happening and how to fix it?

Under "Tools - Applications - Adobe Acrobat Document, the I chose 'Use Adobe Reader'." However since I also have Adobe Acrobat 8.3, I tried substitution, for the reader, but which does not work either. Help, please.

    You could try the following:

    (1) change your preference for 'Preview in Firefox' and use the download button to save the file. But it's an extra step.

    (2) change your preference to "Always ask" and see if you can get the file to open it in this way.

    (3) delete the file from your application's preferences (it is sometimes damaged) and try again. Note: these are only the preferences for which applications manage what types of content, not all your Firefox preferences.

    To do this:

    (i) open your current Firefox settings (AKA Firefox profile) folder using

Help > troubleshooting information > "view file" button.

(ii) switch back to Firefox and the output. Your Windows Explorer window should go back to the foreground. Pause while Firefox finishing its cleanup.

(iii) and rename the mimeTypes.rdf something like mimeTypes.old

(iv) restart Firefox. It is likely you will default to 'Preview in Firefox' and I hope that the paths for Adobe Reader and Adobe Acrobat will now be correct if you choose one of those.

    A little luck?

  • Editing pdf files?

Hello. I downloaded a book on my computer which is a pdf file. Anyway to change this to something that the "rocket" will recognize so I can load my rocket? If so, how?  Thank you very much!  GLO

A pdf file is a document, not an audio file.  Think about it like asking you how to get a real book on an mp3 player, it will not happen.  You can save yourself read lol.  Try to find an audio book, which you would be able to listen in on your rocket.

  • each download will in pdf file that opens in windows media center, I can not pull up or the play .i see the file but do not know how to access the media center.hope it makes sense.

I have media library but do not know how to open files that is downloaded.

Media Center does not open PDF files and PDF files have nothing to do with playback of music or videos.  Somehow, downloads do not create the appropriate file types.  Where are you these downloads?  Can you give me a website?  You want to download (images, videos, music, what)?  What version of Media Center do you use?  What version of Vista are you using?  How do you download files and if you use a browser, which is the name and version of the browser?

    Thank you!

  • Buzz audio playback from any computer in the House

In the last day or two, suddenly my laptop Dell XPS Windows 7 had this weird behavior: when playing audio or video, on youtube or other sites, or locally the MP3 files on my computer with Windows Media Player, every once in a while, there's a hum, kind of like when the judges love not something on one of these talent shows and they ring the buzzer.  It's as if Simon Cowell is right there inside my computer, buzzing just once in awhile, at random moments.  It continues for about half a second, and then the video or the audio continues.

Then when my wife got home, she was complaining about the same thing on his laptop, which has just begun to happen in the past day also.  She had the same problem that watching videos online, or talking to someone on Skype.  She usually use Chrome or Firefox to watch videos, while I was using IE.  It seems that any software or computer is used, and if the file is local or online, happens as long as there is audio playback.

Doing some research, I notice that someone described a similar problem happening after a Windows Update 4 years ago, and this person had to update some other driver to be compatible with the Windows Update.  I noticed that there was some very critical updates in the last days, and I wonder if they are responsible.  If it is a driver incompatibility problem, I don't know yet how to solve it.  Any help is very appreciated.  Thank you!

YES!  I was wondering if it was a question of Dell and would make troubleshooting more tonight.  (I needed to understand why Dell DataSafe kept fails, too).  I had noticed the pop-up blue Dell SupportAssist a couple of days, but don't connect it might have caused a problem.  It seems that it is the culprit, because I've been without buzz since I dropped it and restarted.

    Thanks for the help!
